Welcome to all the newbies, everyone here is lovely so you will be just fine:T

Rosemary- Glad to hear things are a bit better:) Have you considered Northern Cyprus? Its lovely and hot, simular to Turkey but in my opinion much prettier and less spoilt, there's loads of 4/5 star places too and the food is pretty good, even fussy veggies like me can get by. Its possibly a bit more expensive but Cyprus Paradise often have a good deal or two if you are flexible. I'd recommend hiring a car so you can explore but if you don't staying in Kyrenia so you can walk to nice bars/resturant's etc. I'm not on commission, just love Northern Cyprus and want people to keep visiting:)

just been looking on cosmos at turkey(Italy too expensive) but will see if they do Cyprus as it is on my list)for the past few years we have gone to either tenerife or the algarve and am worried OH may be turning into his brother who has gone to the same hotle for 3o plus years along with wife and son who is now 29:eek:
I think a change would do us good and as I have £730 worth of deals with tesco I can just about afford to go to a reasonaly priced place(sorry princess O.H we can slum it for once:rotfl:!!)once you take into account they bump the online price up and you then pay for transfers....£118 for a taxi:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

OH away tonight for the first time in over two weeks so peace:)still shocked that he has taken a day off in order to pick me up from the airport when I go away with my friend.I am trying very hard not to get at him and only do so in self defense when he says something so fingers crossed we will get better.

Today I have signed up for my portuguse class again(did this last year but due to room probs they stopped it in Oct:(and now may well have to start again at the beginning:()
also signed up for a bead making half day with a groupon I bought last year and am booking a massage to get back to the tpoiletries theme:rotfl:can't get used to my nails and wondering how long i will be able to keep them this lenght.they are now a glittery pink....very girly:)
Jan 3rd and no spends so far:Aam resisting going to town as know will buy stuff I don't need.

tried a new recipe this week whcih went well, souffle baked potatoes(easy to google a version) very yummy will do again
beginning to feel positive for the first time in ages with just odd twangs when think about our relationship.
thanks again for all good wishes they really do help

Happy new year everyone! A bit late but I just dont know where the days are going atm!!

i will be joining again, I disappeared towards the end of Dec but I did manage to stay on track......until the sales kicked in! I 'blame' it on the fact I didnt get ANY toiletries for xmas which is pretty much unheard of, so I then treated myself to the EH cleansing balm (have to use up LE c&p polish first) and some hair goodies - not really needed but all things I've been wanting to try for most of last year. Again just need to use up all the other hair stuff first!

I will repost my list later when I have some free time, I've written it all out in a notebook but am considering using a spreadsheet, I dont have MS office, does anyone use Google docs thingy or point me in the right direction?

And one thing that I've found really helps me is when I start to get to that bored stage of using something, where I dont really like it or want to keep on using it but I have to, I get out the replacement for it from my stash and keep it in view, on my bedside table etc. As I find being able to see the new one, which is usually something new that I havent tried or an old favourite/HG really makes me apply that hand cream every night before bed etc to use it up. Maybe that sounds a bit mad but it gives me that push!

Hope we all have a good jan and can stay on the straight and narrow! x

One of the reasons I want to get rid of my ridiculous stash is because it stops me enjoying new products. I buy something new and really want to start using it and enjoying it, but I am always aware there are older 'back-ups' in my stash that are nearer their expiry date.
  • Can I join in please?

I did post a few times a long while ago, years possibly but I didn't fully commit but I have to now. I have no space for boxes of toiletries and I should be focusing on saving for a house rather then spending money on toiletries (although I could probably build a toiletry house and live in that :rotfl:)

I don't have a stash list at the moment it is in progress though and I shall post when it is complete.

Here's to a successful year of UUs and no INs

    Good luck everyone!

A UU -Pantene shampoo for brown hair WBA because it was only 10p :j as it was when Pantene changed the shape of their bottles. I still have another few (ahem :o) in the stash.
Trying to place an order through Debenhams with a gift card I received this Christmas, it says its not been activated :( so presume there's no money been added to it?
Life is a coin, you can spend it anyway you wish, but you can only spend it once.
Go as far as you can see, and when you get there you'll see further.

  • I had a tidy up in the bedroom and realised there were 3 products that I am never going to use again, let alone use up!

TA: TBS Lemon Lip Balm, WNBA, Vaseline is more effective and pleasant that this.

Burts Bees Lemon Cuticle Butter, WNBA, it's rock hard but really greasy and doesn't sink in at all.

Clairol Volume Booster Mask, WNBA, smells flowery and cheap, makes my hair frizzy rather than volumised!

Just a quick post to say Happy New Year and (in Arnie style) I will be back! Have had no broadband at home since the day after Boxing Day. Sky told us they would have the landline fixed on 31 December but apparently a part had to be ordered so now it's 5 Jan. As MrM needs broadband to work (yes, he was not worrying too much when it only affected me and my sales shopping!! and Emma's stalking of One Direction members on Twitter lol) we have had to apply to Virgin for broadband and the pack has been delivered today so hopefully normal service will be resumed shortly.

Will try to catch up with the December thread and this one later. x
Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

    Hi ladies,

Please can you add me to this challenge.

From my pre-Christmas clean-up of the house, it became clear to me that I have a huge stash of toiletries. I think I might make it most way through the year before I have to buy anything much.

Thank you and good luck, everyone.

I'd be more than happy to spend more on face products if I found any that were actually any better than the cheaper ones. For me that just hasn't proved to be the case. The problem is that experimenting with more expensive products is well, more expensive!

    QUOTE]

    This is the challenge!
I've tried cheaper brands and found alot have made me turn out in rashes and spots (I'm talking about you nivea day cream), but I've also bought high end and only found them 'ok' which is disappointing when you've spent nearly £20! I do find that some well known brands are all marketing hype with a poor product underneath and I wonder how many of us have bought something and been disappointed, leading to us buying another product, more disappointment and the cycle continues leading us to stashes of products. The only winner is the beauty industry that rakes in a packet.

I agree with Hermia - if there were more sample sizes available it would let you try a product without wasting lots of money. But these days I try and read reviews on beauty blogs and make up alley before I purchase ANY product, as fed up of handing over my hard earned money for rubbish products!

I think when I say I want to spend a bit more, is because I want to use more natural products that don't contain parabens etc, and are made by a company that specialises in skincare (rather than brands that sell makeup and bodycare too) and these tend to cost a bit more. But more than open to cheaper suggestions!

Also I must agree with you that I have found this to be a very friendly thread. :)
