1 TA today and 2 needed INs.
TA: Too Faced Shadow Insurance. This has separate and is hard to remix as it's in a tube so I just get oily stuff coming out! WNBA, wasn't that great an eye primer.
INs:
MUA eye primer: I've heard good things about this and only £2.50!
Nivea Pure and Natural night cream: this was a planned future purchase as I'm nearly out of night cream (just using samples atm) and this was £3 in Superdrug. I had a few samples of this and really liked it. Yay for my skin liking something cheap!!0 -
kiplingmonkey wrote: »Hello everyone and a big ewelcome to all the newbies. I have been on the thread for a year now and have found it really helpful - it has really made me stop and think before buying. I am no saint and do have INs but at least they are fewer than pre-challenge.
Have a couple of INs to report actually -
2 x Trevor Sorbie volumising mousse - this is my HG product, I don't buy other hair mousses (unless I can't find this) so tend to stock up when I see it in Boots as it is sometimes in short supply. Currently on offer - 2 for £6 so bought a couple to keep me going as I only have 1 in use and 1 in the drawer.
Plus another UU so at least I am staying "toiletry neutral":
Liz E foot repair - WBA but am making a real concerted effort not to add to the stash unless I am on my last of something. Moved on to a Margaret Dabbs foot lotion (old style packaging) which I found in my gift drawer before Christmas. As it was the old orange packaging didn't feel I could 'gift' it to a friend so gifted it to myself instead.
I love this TS mousse too and, I'll whisper this ..... I noticed it in a set in the sales in Boots with Volume Dry Shampoo and Volume Booster spray, all full size plus some sectioning clips and velcro rollers, £18 full price, just thinking if it were to go 75% off.... Would be rude not to!0 -
One IN to report - a pot of nail polish remover wipes. I was out today and realised my nail polish had got badly chipped and couldn't bear to see it looking so messy.
At £1.39 it's not a bad spend, don't have much nail polish remover anyway. Will keep in my handbag in case of future emergencies!0 -
Thanks Ruby-eskimo for starting us off. I am in for this month.
Welcome newbies.
I feel that I had my LBM in December regarding toiletries and spending in general, I haven't purchased a single thing in the sales. I really, really hope I can keep it up. I am still going to have £10 to spend each month on beauty related items, I can carry it forward but not spend in advance. This should just help if I NEED a new nail polish or lip gloss etc.
Good luck everyone.
What does LBM mean? :idea:Cookie, I think you're tame. :heart2:

I've still not done a full list because I'm a bit useless however I've UU a sachet of shampoo and a conditioner one.
Not much but it's another one out of the draw. I'm close to having UU my foundation and I have another one in my draw so I won't need to buy anotherSealed pot challenge 18750 -
So annoyingly I've discovered a few more bits in a drawer hiding under my cotton wool pad stash and I had to throw away the No7 Hot Cloth Cleanser. I very, very rarely throw toiletries away but this was rubbish, didn't remove make-up, left a greasy film on my skin and brought me out in a rash so it's gone. Needless to say WNBA.
Also sorted through all my samples and have put the suitable ones in a box for my sister along with a lot of hotel miniatures (which she collects), the talcum powder and The Body Shop Tea Tree Mask which I WNBA. Although I like the rest of their range I didn't see any improvement with this but hopefully she might like it.
Friday tomorrow :j Will be painting my nails to celebrateSaving for our wedding July 2013!0 -

Was wondering if anyone can help me, how long in general do products last before they 'go off' as such? I have some opened Soap & Glory items, unopened/opened Body Shop butters & shower gels and some old but opened fake tans? Not sure whether they should just be thrown out..
Any advice is greatly appreciated
Hi and welcome. As others have said S&G seems to go off pretty quickly once opened. Re: TBS I've recently finished a 200ml tub of Moroccan Rose body butter that I know I opened in August whilst on holiday and this had gone off so 6 months seems to be the life span for opened TBS body butters.Hello again ladies!
Well, I think this is my thrid or fourth year on the challenge. It's so far back in the midst of time that I can't remember when it started, only that I've been here since the beginning. (Oh dear, that makes me feel very old!) It is definitely working for me, but there's still a while to go, so I will be here until the very end...at the rate I'm currently going I may be buried with certain toiletries! :rotfl:
I was trying to remember how long I've been following this thread/challenge for as well. I'll never graduate fully though cos I love renewing the stash at Christmas in the Jan Sales.
I visited Boots in the Trafford Centre last Monday as well and bought another 2 x the Mark Hill hair kits so have now got a stash of hair products again. The Straightening Cream is very similar to the Hair Rules one that I loved though and can't buy in the UK so wanted to stockpile whilst they were half price and in case of a siege!! lol.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

I've had a couple of mice infestations - I have a rodent phobia so it's been extremely stressful, to say the least - and the pest control man advised me not to use fruit scented anti-bac sprays or wipes as mice 'like' them. I've therefore assumed that they would also like the smell of fruit flavoured candles so haven't bought any. Mice supposedly don't like peppermint so I have bought some peppermint flavoured candles - although they can be hard to source. Don't know if it does actually deter them but it makes the house smell like toothpaste and there are worse things to smell of.
I also have candle habit and have been out and bought more Yankee Candles on the sales for next Christmas! In my defence they were all half price. YC used to make a minty candle called Jack Frost - may be worth looking on Ebay for one of those. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge.
