Re: TBS I've recently finished a 200ml tub of Moroccan Rose body butter that I know I opened in August whilst on holiday and this had gone off so 6 months seems to be the life span for opened TBS body butters.
I would agree with that. Even unopened they don't last as long as other products. I bought a few in the Body Shop factory shop and some were smelling funny when I eventually came to use them. Obviously I don't know how long they had been in the factory shop for.0 -
I also have candle habit and have been out and bought more Yankee Candles on the sales for next Christmas! In my defence they were all half price. YC used to make a minty candle called Jack Frost - may be worth looking on Ebay for one of those. x
I am not buying any more candles until I have used the ones I have got. I must have about 20 candles at the moment.0 -
A little bit off topic, but can anyone recommend some nice home fragrances?
I've made myself super jealous by browsing the bath & body works website (doesn't ship to the UK) - I definitely want a few plug-ins - the yankee ones are all US plugs that you have to convert unfortunately.
Does anyone know if the yankee fragrance refill bit fits in any standard uk plug in? i.e. glade, ambi-pur etc?Alton_Towers wrote: »You can get UK Yankee plug ins, they are fab!
I was going to post that YC sell the plug ins here in UK. I know that the Q sell some kits with refills included. Don't know how they compare on price as I've never bought the plug ins. My MIL used to use them and I found the smell cloying though these weren't the YC ones either.
I too wish we had a Bath and Body Works in the UK too.noelphobic wrote: »I used a Ted Baker scrub and had the same problem. Will try using it before the shower gel next time and see if that helps.
I bought a Gok Wan set in the Boots sale as I wanted a new body scrub and his kit on the sale was better value than buying my usual S&G Sugar Crush. Must say I'm really impressed by it. The consistency is very thin but it has left my skin really soft even after only the first application.Back for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. I pledge to only buy when I run out of a product that is not already in my stash no matter what wonderful emails land in in my Inbox or threads I read on MSE re: glitches!

Evening everyone!
Welcome to all the newbies - you will love it here I'm sure.
I have uu number 3 to report
3 - PCMC - WBA, but no need....... at least 1 in 'stock'. This is a HG product for me and at the mo I'm also using the PC night cream to see if it really makes a difference in these months of dry central heating.
So that is another £1 in the pot. Almost £10 in less than a week!! I think all cash saved will go towards my next hol to the USA..
Maddiemay - what do you think of your Clarrisonic?? Ive had mine a few months now and am really pleased with the results.
Day three and still no spends - doing well me thinks!Scrappie

Hello Ladies!!
Kiplingmonkey - so glad you mentioned the Q. Totally forgot to put my £5 in my jar for not buying the TSV. I intend to continue this for the coming year - saved up quite a bit last year doing this.
I also intend to add £1 to my jar for every UU - that gives me a grand total on day 1 of £7.
I think I will follow your leads and start putting away £5.00 for every TSV I avoid and £1.00 for every UU. I know there is a LE TSV coming up soon. xCharlotteK wrote: »Hello lovely ladies, having been lurking since November I've decided to join in properly if that's ok and a large reason why I've decided to is because there is not an ounce of nastiness/judgement/catty remarks etc on these threads. I've rarely posted on others (as you can see) because the conversation can turn really quickly. How silly to be scared of posting a comment!
Anyway, I've been reading on and off and even though I've not strictly been following it (did purchase the LIB calendar and some conditioners in the sale) it has definitely made me rethink a few purchases. I've almost finished my list so I'll post that soon too. I'm getting married in July and have just bought a new car so need to make cutbacks everywhere I can and toiletries seem to be my downfall so I am not buying anything but the absolute necessities like shampoo and deodorant for as long as possible. Wish me luck lol.
Thanks
Welcome to all Newbies. CharlotteK you are right about this thread. It is a much happier place than most threads on MSE. I very rarely post anywhere else on this site unless it's a support thread of some kind. Good luck with the challenge and with your wedding plans. xBack for the No Buying Toiletries challenge. Scrappie, I am really pleased with it, I went a bit mad with it at first (I do this with everything!), although it did not cause me any real problems I have settled at 3 or 4 times a week, I do use a clay mask on my nose and chin area about once a week, but don't need to use any exfoliant very often (I do hot cloth cleanse). I would hate to be without it and consider it a good buy, even if a bit of a luxury. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Hi and welcome. As others have said S&G seems to go off pretty quickly once opened. Re: TBS I've recently finished a 200ml tub of Moroccan Rose body butter that I know I opened in August whilst on holiday and this had gone off so 6 months seems to be the life span for opened TBS body butters.
ThanksI've had my TBS body butters a while as I bought a lot when I found out Almond Body Butter was being continued
this is why I need to join this thread!
Does anyone else go crazy buying things when there's a sale on or discount? I got caught up in the rush of the Boots sale and now thinking I don't really need any of it!2018

I noticed on the end of the Dec thread that you have L'Oreal Extraordinary Oil as an IN, have you tried it yet? Would be interested in your thoughts on it as its something I've had my eye on and now that I've run out of serum may purchase (although not in the next three months as that's my self imposed goal for no IN!)
I haven't tried it yet, it was part of an order I collected on NYE. I'm awaiting delivery of a Babyliss big hair styler and will try the two products together and let you know my thoughts. Sadly I'm not as disciplined as you, I still have lots of serum and glossing sparays but have never used any type of oil on my hair and wanted to give one a go.0 -
Oh dear tried to multiple quote and it all went wrong.
VALM, thanks very much, there aren't many paydays left. However I now have just under £98 worth of Boots points which have been saved specifically for all the make-up and toiletries I'll inevitably 'need'.
candyandstripes, I try to buy everything I 'need' when there's a discount/loyalty points offer/free gift which sometimes saves money but I have ended up spending more to get to the minimum spend. I did sock up on TBS almond body butter when I found out and I've still got some left! Last year was bad for me as my foundation and primer were discontinued but didn't find out until I'd run out so couldn't bulk buy which I suppose is a good thing.Saving for our wedding July 2013!0
