Doh. Only just woke up! By postie banging on the door. Glad actually, as I was having a most confusing dream about setting up a taxi business :D

DK can I have a tea please? Just made one here but the milk is lumpy  guess I need to go shopping this morning...

There's dirty washing everywhere, the beds all need stripping, and a clean up operation all round is required. Good job I'm feeling better. Shower first - off I go.

P.S. sb5 glad baby can stay put for a while longer x

Is GREEN with envy (I did the OU course and have some knowledge of this period/group. I have a copy of Silver_favourites.jpg *points* on the wall above and to the left of the PC - bought it from the gallery in Manchester where I saw the original and lots of other PRB paintings

    Update bank account
Check and amend Christmas card list
    Do some planning for work

Have stripped my bed and will be going out when the sheets are on the line.

For the poorly tummy bug types - when one of us has that type I use a spray from dettol for all hard surfaces - so I can spray door handles, loo internally and externally, taps etc. It's available from Wilko, smells pleasant and does seem to cut down on cross-infection as usually only one of us has a tummy bug - with only 1 bathroom I do have to be careful. We also all have our own towels and a separate handtowel for visitors. Which I wash at 60 deg. (My mum was a nurse and taught me infection control;))

    - that wasn't a dream as such - just a prediction - it won't be long before you will be offering the Bossyteens a bespoke taxi service :rotfl:

  • Morning everyone,

Thank you for all the welcomes and kind words; it means a lot. Well yesterday I managed to get through the biggest pile of washing up, put a load of washing on and booked a food shop for Saturday. I was exhausted after that...its mad...this flu really takes it out of you. Im not having a great day today...trying to stay strong for my beautiful children but I worry how I will cope on my own now. I know my marriage ending is the right thing but it still really hurts :( . Someone tell me that it gets easier??? Anyway I am going to give the oven and hob a good clean later, following all the Christmas cooking. Its not my favourite job in the world, but it needs doing. Hope you all have a good day xxx

    Good morning all
    and Happy Birthday Quillion:bdaycake:

I have been doing a lot of lurking and not much flying again this week, and have accepted a large number of spoons from kind FlyLady friends with grateful thanks. The second course of ABs is clearing my chest infection at last and I'm coughing less, and less "chestily" IYSWIM :)
I have stayed indoors almost all week, as I find that changes of atmosphere (even opening the front door) make the cough worse, but I did manage 10 minutes outside yesterday, emptying the rubbish into the dustbins and refilling the mealworm feeder (so robin is happy!).

However, I think all the coughing fits may have caused me to crack a rib (I had very similar symptoms a few years back when I had a bad chest infection), and *of course* it has to be on my right side, and I'm right-handed, so I am being careful about lifting and carrying - especially the Dys0n ;)
The night before last I had to sit up in bed to sleep, feeling like Queen Victoria (definitely not amused), but managed a better sleep last night with the help of painkillers. Also, we had been out for a meal yesterday evening with the Choral Society and enjoyed excellent food at a very reasonable price and excellent company :)

DH has been an :A this week, doing odd bits of shopping, carrying baskets of washing up and down stairs for me, and even bringing me flowers :T
The house has stayed tidy, and I have even got the Christmas cards down and sorted, though the rest of the decs will stay up until Twelfth Night. I love my lights in the dark depths of winter :xmastree:

Yesterday I planted the 2 amaryllis bulbs (deep pink and almost black) - already shooting - which were my Christmas present from DS2 and DDiL2. They will be in bloom by mid-February :j
And I have 2 bowls of 3 hyacinths plus 4 singles ready to dot around the house as soon as the tree comes down. We have hellebores, winter jasmine, polyanthus and even a rose in bloom in the garden to keep me going until the spring.

This morning I am beginning to feel even better and (without painkillers) have already
    - S&S'd kitchen
    - S&S'd bathroom (not a full clean as per list for above-mentioned reasons)
    - checked my bank account online and phoned the bank about a credit card payment which they have failed to take
    - tidied our bedroom
    - plumped up the sofa cushions
    - done 1 WM load and sorted out another
    - sorted a large box of craft materials and a box of other bits and bobs and started making lists of their contents

Most other jobs to be done today are computer- or at least desk-based so I shall [STRIKE]clear my desk of junk, [/STRIKE]make myself a :coffee:, clear my desk of junk (prioities :rotfl:) and get on with them asap :D

Hope that all with the sickness bug are recovering. I can offer spoons today where needed, though hugs may still be beyond me.

SB5, delighted to hear that FlyBaby is able to stay put for a bit longer. Hope you are OK too - take care of yourself.

Baby ratties sound cute, froddy - how many are you getting?

Mammoth post to make up for lost days :p I'll catch up with the thread later. Hope everyone has a good day today.
    :coffee: on offer now :D

You will cope - you are already coping as much as anyone with an ounce of sympathy will expect you to be coping at this stage. Yes, it does hurt like h*ll right now. Yes, it will continue to hurt for quite some time, depending on how involved your ex is with the children. (FWIW, my advice would be to treat him like the stranger he has become to you, whilst trying to accept that for the children he is still Dad and therefore not to be criticised in front of them - i.e. don't use them as weapons in your war.) And yes, it does become easier - though often so slowly that you don't realise it until you can look back a year or two.

Sending you vibes for staying strong - but don't think you've failed if you break down occasionally. Tears are good for releasing tension, and you've got us here to support you.

Some flying to be done today and then we are going to have a craft day with DD. Not sure what yet, she got a small sewing machine for xmas but grandma scared the life out of her with tales of fingers sewed together on industrial machines (stupid woman!)

Hugs to everybody who needs them.x

  • Morning everyone, and a special hello to all the newbies joining this week.....

Going to put the kettle on for a brew - DD3 brought breakfast upstairs for DS earlier and a bit of toast for me, but someone has moved/consumed my orange juice for taking with my iron pills so I need to go on the hunt for it or send DD3 round the corner shop for some more.

Will be back for a lurk again in a bit - I have decided to report all flying here at the Skint Ritz with whoever does it, so I don't get too down about not being able to do anything myself

Oh well - let the fun and games commence:D:D:D
The cold never bothered me anyway
