:eek:Loobylou2 that's a horrendous start to the year! Hope you can get it sorted with minimum hassle - I assume insurance will cover it?

Skinty good luck - hope all goes well, and that MiL doesn't cause too much havoc. I have to say, I sympathise with the young Skints, having myself been made very ill through eating roast spuds I didn't know had been cooked in goose fat. Hoping the green thread does the trick. Oh, and pardon me if I speak out of turn, but if I was working in someone else's kitchen, I'd be extremely careful to put everything back exactly as I found it. This is something I'm totally OCD about in my own kitchen, so it raised my blood pressure slightly to read that MiL would rearrange your kitchen if you weren't careful.

Bathroom day in the Wolf's Lair today; it's taking an age, as I have very little range of arm movement currently, and need to use both hands to lift a full bottle of cleaning liquid. However, we'll get there. Shower head is soaking in a jug of vinegar as I type, then I'll "recycle" the vinegar to deal with loo limescale.;) I need to give the shower screen a good polish, too.:o

Oh, and Hoppy Birdday to Juliejim's DD.

Thanks, to say I'm not happy about it is the understatement of the year so far. We live in a rented property and so have spoken to the Housing People and apparently its a chargeable job so OH is going to have to come up with the money to get it sorted. Will speak to insurers though to see if I am covered for something like this but think we've only got contents cover and am not sure if that would cover me for something like OH flooding the bathroom and causing the living room ceiling to come down!!!! Am sick of having to pay for and sort out his disasters all the time!!!!! Tree and decorations are now down and boxed up for next year though and so I'm off to start on the chaos that is the kitchen!!!!
loobylou2.Proud to be dealing with my debts and aiming to sort out the mess in 2013!!!!

I'm not feeling too happy today so not much done so far.
I had the Doctor (I have a new one now), he refered me for counselling (finally) but just before Christmas I received a letter saying they couldn't give me an appointment  So I'm back to square one and all the Doctor says is I should get back to work (no job to go back to) Obviously all my problems have magically disappeared

After the Doctor's I went for coffee with my best friend and her family, it's her birthday today :) We also got some more bits for her and her husband's blessing (10 days to go), it all seems to be coming together though the girls and I still need to sort out costumes (it's medieval themed).

I'm annoyed that neither of the girls are at home so everythings been left to me to do again
I've told them both that everythings to be done by the weekend or I'm black sacking the ****ing lot :mad:

Well DD is home and the place is covered in abandoned things already :rotfl: She's unpacked and trying to find homes for all her pressies. I'd rather she went for her bath but at least shes doing something. I'm going to do a HHC of making my bed and then some jobs in the kitchen. Hopefully DD will get in the bath this side of 6pm if I'm up there as well ;) Off to see how much she has put away, then tackle making my bed, one of my least favourite jobs! :(

Just a quick question: how do you descale stuff?? Glad its the Kitchen today as I seriously did nothing all day yesterday!!

I use white vinegar, fill kettle to cover element, leave for a few hours, pour away and then boil a couple pints 2 times before using

Can I join in too please? I really find it difficult to motivate myself to do housework and it shows by the state of my house. I work full time and have 3 children ages 15,13 and 7, OH is retired but dosen't do much around the house so it mainly falls to me and often because I have quite a stressful job I'm just too exhausted to start on housework when I stagger in from the office. Any help, advice, hints and tips would be very much appreciated as although I live with 4 other people I don't get much support at all from them in keeping our home nice.

I think you have 2 choices. You either do what you can to get them all helping, rota, rewards etc or you decide you are doing it just for your own benefit and do your best without stressing. You should not be clearing up the mess that your OH has created with the ceiling disaster though!
