  • Evening all, very little flying done here. Family over for lunch and then just chilling with the kids. Boys all dunked and ready for bed, DS1 and 2 cleaning the bedroom before DS3 goes down. :D

DW unloaded and reloaded and enough sticks in for the fire tonight. Gonna go sort through the fridge and sort out an online food shop. Plan to be flying hard tomorrow but tonight will be bed early.

Bossy lovely to hear your feeling so positive, you are such an amazing strong person and i truely take my hat off to you.

Valli love the knitting it looks fab. :T

    Happy New Year everyone.
Lovely and sunny here too (Herts/Essex border) so managed a bit more tidying in the garden. How come weeds grow so fast in winter? I blame the rain.
Hoovered all downstairs and put a few things away.
Still 'baking' pine cones donated by various people who know I'm into flower arranging. Left some in aga overnight accidentally (turned off but keeps warm for a while) and they have opened beautifully; look like little hedgehogs! They will be lovely next Xmas with some glitter....

Went to local garden centre with OH as they had a few offers as well as a sale. Got lunch of soup 2 for 1, free tea and coffee as membership half price if you pay this week. Few plants in sale, plus a pretty pot for a plant I'd been given for Christmas - and membership gave 5% off the total. Think I've saved the membership fee already, and you get a free coffee whenever you go in so that's coffee planned for the next few months..........anyway it was great to lunch and browse with OH as we don't often take 'time out' to lunch together. Watched the small ice rink that is at the centre over Christmas, really nice feeling with music playing and everyone skating (or crashing) happily.

Last night's cold roast and salad next, then we'll do a bit of planning - transfer calendar dates, think about kitchen decorating, think about holiday plans and sort out photos lurking on computer waiting to be made into photobooks.

Down to earth, or rather WORK, with a bump tomorrow. Still, 2 days at college with no students around has to be worth appreciating......even if the Costa bar will be closed.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.

Hi Mumof2 - I usually use BBC Good Food website however, I used allrecipes last Thursday for a Lamb Tagine and it was so good, that I remade it on Sunday for friends we had visiting for a long weekend. It is absolutely tremendous this recipe:-

    http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/5191/lamb-tagine.aspx

I'm going to try out a few more of the recipes on there. Let us know how you get on with the curry.

    TMD xx

This is what I did - http://allrecipes.co.uk/recipe/179/chicken-curry---my-way-.aspx - and it was lovely, really creamy. I only used 500ml of stock though.

Flying wise going to sort out towels to go in WM tomorrow, make beds (I know - my bad!) and pick up yet again. DH is doing DIY and the house looks like a DIY store but the good thing is I have washed up our curry dishes and DW loaded up.

Will do as much as I can this week but realistically can't really start properly until kids and DH back to school/work on Monday.

Am stuffed. Leftovers for tea, a mix of stew (DS had the last dumpling, or dumperling as he calls them:D) sausages and mash. The cuppa tea has just pushed me over the edge I think. Or maybe it was the biscuits ;) getting weighed tomorrow  to see what the damage is...

Back on the wagon for me!

Have just put the spare room back to rights. MIL stripped the bed and taken with her to wash :A so I've remade as a single. Most likely my brother will stay here when he flies in for the funeral next week.

Have arranged with inlaws, they will take the kiddies on Thursday eve, overnight. The funeral is early-ish and we'll be at the hotel (hired a room and catering) by 11.30 so inlaws will bring kiddies and meet us there. They knew my granny too, but I've said they don't have to come, it's the same place as DH funeral so isn't going to be easy. So they are babysitting instead. I didn't want to take the kiddies. It's a burial, and I've no idea how I'll cope so it's for the best.

Anyway, all that ramble was me saying the spare room is sorted!

Kids back to nursery tomorrow (phew). I'm doing a few hours work from home but probably not a full day, I've laundry and I want to take the tree down and get everything away to the loft while the tots are out.

I've decided 2013 is the year of FUN for the moos, and my next list (I love lists) is some exciting kiddie-proof trips. We might even venture out without grandparenting support  :rotfl:

This morning DH and I did everything on my list except
    - Re-make guest bed (will do this tomorrow when I sort the bedroom cupboards and fling DH's outgrown/outworn shirts)
    - WM and TD (piles of washing now sorted and machines running)
    and I cooked lunch.
Friends came, enjoyed meal, and - bless them! - knowing that I was not feeling 100% only stopped 2½ hours and then went so that I could get some rest. I crashed on the sofa for 2 hours and won't be in bed late tonight, either.

Little bits of paperwork need to be done this evening, then I am looking forward to watching MIranda at 9 pm. Not a bad way to spend NYD :)

Congratulations on finding ways round the ironing challenge, SB5! Hope all goes well for you and Flybaby this week. Have you tied green sewing thread to the veggie mixing spoons to help MiL keep the peace? - it won't come off in the DW if you knot it tightly.

I commented to DH this evening that after an excess of roast dinners I am greatly looking forward to a simple meal with rice!

ETA note to Bossy and anyone else interested:

I know the little Moos are active and you don't mind them getting a bit muddy, so have you seen this website? I am going to help my DGC complete some of the challenges - DGS1 and DGS2 are about the same age as the little Moos, and we shall work our way through the list over a period of years rather than months!

Ionafan, that is a good idea for green thread,:T but that assumes that you have someone who is good at following rules...but when you have someone who works on the premise "what they don't know won't hurt them!" it kind of goes out of the window anyway :mad::mad:

but i have some green thread, so I might start winding now....DD2 and DD3 will appreciate the sentiment:T and its something I can do with my legs up in bed
The cold never bothered me anyway

Evening flyladies & gents. Happy New Year to you all.

I also would be interested in a flylady meet if there's ever one in Leeds/York/Hull area.

My list for tomorrow around the paid stuff:

    Wipe hob
    Clean undersink cupboard
    Wipe kickboards/cupboard legs
    Descale taps
    Wipe work surfaces
    Sweep/mop floor
Spend less now, work less later.

Hi there! I can't believe this first day of the year is nearly over - where does the time go?!

Did a S & S round bathroom and kitchen this morning, after sorting cats and birds as usual, and making our porridge, then 2 x WM, followed by 2 x TD, then walked next door's dogs before a quick toastie then work this aft. Bless the residents: most had had a sherry with their New Year's Day lunch, and were really sleepy this afternoon! I put Mary Poppins on in the lounge then did lots of visiting those bed-fast, and gave them a bit extra attention.

Fed cats again on my return home and have chilled out with a drink and my I-pad. Our meal is ready now (pre cooked at the weekend) and smells delicious, so am going to eat right now!

Good luck vibes all round and good wishes too. R x
