cheers , that looks like some thing that may be of use, presume it just picks up all my wifi, including new router n, and amplifies it, and any other wifi too? I will go down to currys, only 5 mins away, ethernet is fine, but does limit me to 2 spots, also got wifi printer, which I use with cable, because of wifi signal, lounge is like my office, oh goes nuts;;;WPS??? Do I still retain my wpa router security ip and pw same, it just boosts the signal

yeah,just a booster really
open it carefully and if its no good, you could most likely take it back
The netgear unit gives you a new wifi spot to log onto
So it can have its own log in details I would assume
I note they also have the TP homeplugs for £28.990 -

I looked at Currys , noticed the homeplugs, but, to me, they are still ethernet, and I have no problems with long ethernet runs in my house as I can access underfloor and roof void, to virtually any room in the house, hidden;;;I may be wrong, but would presume, long cables would be better than homeplugs, there area couple of spurs in wiring, don,t know if that makes any difference.I,ve a lot of steel joists also, due to alterations upstairs, which I know can affect wifi;; Will try the booster, but if pc wifi card is iffy, then perhaps it may make no difference. can but try it. Cheers custardy, much appreciated all this help.:beer:0 -
Hi, Grandsons just popped in from office,SKY, he,s bringing sky box, blueray player, hdmi leads, etc, Friday, and seeing what difference it makes to picture quality, then take it from there;

HI < I,ve just been looking at HD freeview boxes on E-Bay, and there are several refurbished ALBA,and BUSH at half manufactures price.
Is buying refurbed stuff a good idea, as the cheapest I can find is Argos Bush £59.99.?hdmi extra.
Also , they are scart only, no HDMI ?alba
Bush have HDMI outlet, and scart.
I thought HD was only available via HDMI leads, ?
Advice appreciated, as I can get 2 for price of 1 going refurbed route?
Never bought anything refurbed before.0 -
You won't get HD over scart out of those boxes. Go for HDMI. Search for reviews online for the Bush one.604!0

refurb wouldnt bother me
the price for those would though. personal choice.
Our Freeview HD box upstairs is a no name unit. cost under £30. not perfect but its fine for the price
what about a Sony PVR?

BUT, which one, there,s such a lot of choice;;
Obviously, would, like best quality as 1080 will allow,for new tv,s, nothing too complicated, as OH only uses tv,s , and, as cheap as possible.
Plus, don,t want them packing up/freezing, after couple of months, as I,ve had with umpteen ordinary Digi,s over the years.0 -
The Manhattan Plaza HDT-700 seems to review quite well for a cheap, basic Freeview HD box.

Thanks TOG, Am I right in reading the reviews that this box has changed ordinary Tube T,vs into HD. because, my JVC 28" which I have moved to conservatory, is big enough for in there, and a good TV, at that, can be converted to HD, instead of looking at another, flat 32" to replace it ?
You mean upscaling?
Your non HD TV can never display HD
it simply doesn't have the resolution to do so
The upscaling refers to upscaling non HD content on an HD screen0
