    You can split the incoming aerial signal, just as you always could. But AFAIK HDMI has so much built-in to its standard (rights protection) that splitting it is not possible.

    You can get short HDMI cables from poundshops.
    The incoming signal is split, as I use a 5 way booster, and send signal via coax to each tv using seperate coax leads. long runs, 20_30 metres some .Good pictures on all sets though, not a lot of signal loss.

    but you are comparing the arerial signal with HDMI
    its not the same,you can still do the same with the aerial signal
    however the TV(or box) at the other end needs to be able to decode the HD signal from the aerial feed.
    think of the HDMI like the Scart cable you used before
    you wouldnt run a 20-30m scart cable,and if you did it would only carry the feed from a VCR,DVD,freeview box or whatever

    Yes, You are right, that,s why i,ve got loads of Digi boxes, one for each Tv decoding signal. I was forever changing them, I,ve got 1 sonybox that,s lasted a long long time. I suffer inside my house with Wifi signal, so I have seperate Ethernet, 30 metre runs to pc, depending on which room I use it in, Lounge or Conservatory.
    Looks like mutiple Freeview HD boxes then,or none at all; ain,t going Sky or Virgin.

    you mean a laptop?
    you might want to consider homeplugs
    you would then have a hard connection in the room
    then you have the option of plugging it in or consider a wireless repeater
    you can get a pair of homeplugs for £30 or so
    £40 if you want the 500mps versions

    Have a look on the maplins website for homeplugs, they might call them powerline adapters but same sort of thing.

    Hi, Yes, I looked into them when I was having wifi trouble with laptop, gunjack said it is my card, and I think it is When I looked at all options, long ethernet cables were cheapest option,at the time, and as I can get underfloor, I bought 2x 30 metres cables, and ran 1 to lounge and 1 to conservatory, only 2 places I use pc, and it,s fine, ;good speeds,
    I got conflicting advice on how good power plugs are, so opted for long ethernet, until I was sure. Only cost me £4 delivered free for both.Looked at usb wifi dongle, et.al
    Wierd shaped house, that,s why I wondered why hdmi cables didn,t come in similar lengths.obviously, they must be a reason, but, it only carries :signal, same as ethernet?????????wrong again.?????????? :rotfl:usually am
    I also have wifi problems with my boiler remote controltoo.Tried the program that shows all wifi in the area,( forgot name). Wierd;Wierd House.If it can go wrong, it will;

    Did you know that every 2 in 1 of us are Schitzos;;;

    well I use homeplugs to stream HD media upstairs
    thats a lot more bandwidth than net use,and they work a treat(the ones I linked to actually)
    there are some home power set ups that may cause issue but outwith that they work a treat.
    a very easy way to get your network set up a distance away
    As fro HDMI. yes it does seem somewhat set up to make a cash cw for cables!
    I saw this a while back
    http://www.techspot.com/news/39503-ethernet-cables-to-replace-hdmi-sony-others-believe-so.html
    would have been a great set up for all our existing ethernet ports

    That seemed to me a really good idea, because,like my long ethernet cables, as long as you can run them, hidden, they are better than wifi, and more secure.2010;;;looks like the manufacturers have scuppered it, because there,s a lot of profit in set top boxes etc.the number I,ve replaced over the years. I was always dubious of having freeview built in for that reason; Technology is changing so fast, it,s out of date no sooner you,ve bought it. HD is old hat to you guys, new to me;;How long before the Tv,s I,ve bought are old hat;;;they already are;;There,s no logical reason why one central unit could be used to feed multiple tv,s . a cable,s a cable; They run under Atlantic to US, I was on cable laying ships;
    As I,m having wifi trouble with remote boiler controls, mobilephone signal, pc wifi, wifi smart electricity meter;;wifi door bells;;It all adds up. I put it down to house design, Z shaped ; Might try power plugs, pc,s 5 years old now, but fine; might renew it. Sons i-pad, i-phone and blackberry had trouble connecting;to my router.
    I might try Argos set top HD box, if HD isn,t impressive, return it, and stay as I am;;

    HD maybe old hat but 1080p is still the highest display in TV terms
    larger screens,3D,LCD etc come but you can be on the edge of technology or find the point you are happy at
    We have a mid range 50" plasma. not 3D or anything but Im happy with it in £ vs performance
    again my main PC isnt new,but a last generation qad core. still more than enough grunt to be a server to the house without breaking a sweat
    Do you not have access to a PS3 or know someone with one you could borrow?
    Bluray is the best way to see your HD screen at full res
