Do you have a barrats near you? Can you not just drop them into the shop? If not, asking for a prepaid postage label sounds like a good idea x

I don't honestly know! I will check now and if I have I will do this today. Thank you!
  • If you do drop then off at a store, make sure that you get a written receipt, or at the very least, the name of the staff member that you give them to.

If you take them back today ask for a goodwill payment to cover your costs for getting to the store. You shouldn't be out of pocket in any way for their mistake.

Perhaps you can ask for a collect+ label and drop it off at a participating store within the next few weeks (if you do ten to pass one that is)?

    Leave with a neighbough?

Email them and say you will leave parcel in a 'safe place' but cannot be held responsible if anything happens?
  • Thank you again for all your responses. Unfortunately (sods law) there is no store near me and they are not in the collect + scheme (that was a great suggestion).

I have decided if I leave it on my bin the courier should be able to reach over the gate and just about grab the box (it is a big box) - I will do as you suggest Arcon re the email about not being held responsible if anything happens.
  • I suggest you ask them to wait until you are on leave or your partner is back if they are unwilling to collect on a Sunday or take the risk of it being left outside.

    Both are reasonable requests imo.

Personally I'd embellish the CAB's unsolicited goods letter a little giving them ample options to get it sorted at their expense and with minimal hassle on my part. After the date specified on the letter, put them on eBay as brand new. Would it not be possible, OP, to allow collection in the evening after you're home? Some couriers work right up until 9 sometimes...

Arguing with idiots is like playing chess with a pigeon: no matter how good you are at chess, its just going to knock over the pieces and strut around like its victorious.
  • Thanks Naf - have emailed them offering somethingcorporate/arcon's suggestions.

I don't want to profit from their mistake, I don't want to keep the boots - I just want to get rid of them with minimal fuss and no consequences to me.

I just meant that if they don't get it sorted, eBay is better than the trash :p

They have given very reasonable options, The OP is being unreasonable to say collect on a sunday. Arcon5 has given reasonable suggestions.

Why don't you leave them at your reception at work and have them collected from there? Or go to a local post office on a saturday?

I'm all for having things put right, but there has to be some give and take

The OP is not being unreasonable at all. She did not order them and is not obliged to put herself out to ensure their return. Why should she lug them into her workplace? Or go to a post office?

Give and take does not come into it. The company are solely responsible for getting the item back.
