If the goods are not unsolicited goods then be careful when following this advice.. there is a specific procedure to follow when disposing of uncollected goods. Not following it could see you liable.

    You are right

CAB gives this letter as the one to write

    Dear Sir or Madam,
Consumer Protection (Distance Selling) Regulations 2000
On 03/02/2011 I received from you: A large ceramic plant pot 24" diameter.
I would like to make it clear to you that I did not order these goods and they are therefore unsolicited.
I will make the goods available for you to collect at your expense in the next 14 days, but after this time I will treat the goods as my own.
Please contact me to arrange collection.
    Yours faithfully
If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.
  • Thanks for your input arcon - Sunday is the ONLY day someone can be available to allow collection - it is not just couriers that work monday to saturday! I am not trying to be awkward - I am just not prepared to take a day off to wait in for a courier.

They were addressed to me personally. I have ordered children's shoes from them in the past but certainly never knee high boots.

As I said in my previous post - I am happy for them to collect them when I am on Mat leave - they will just have to wait a few weeks.
  • You've been more than fair at the end of the day there is nothing they can really do except huff and puff.

Just out of interest - how do you normally get deliveries since 99% of companies do not deliver on Sundays?
    Thinking critically since 1996....
  • Hi - my partner works from home for most of the time - he just happens to be in Africa for the next 4 - 6 weeks working.

They have given very reasonable options, The OP is being unreasonable to say collect on a sunday. Arcon5 has given reasonable suggestions.

Why don't you leave them at your reception at work and have them collected from there? Or go to a local post office on a saturday?

I'm all for having things put right, but there has to be some give and take
  • Fair play - then I'd just give them a set of times they can pick it up and a date you will dispose of it.

I think you've been reasonable enough.

I disagree, "Collect on a sunday" is unreasonable. Arcon5 has suggest collect from work

Was it delivered via courier? if it was Hermes there may be a courier mobile on there and then the actual courier may collect on a sunday.

Could the OPs partner have ordered them for the OP? Check your barratts account?

The OP has already explained why having the boots collected from work isn't an option.
Because I am seven months pregnant, have to take a toddler to nursery on the way to work and have a two hour rush hour commute on public transport. It is all I can do to get myself there in one piece! (They are knee high boots in a big box)

Do you have a barrats near you? Can you not just drop them into the shop? If not, asking for a prepaid postage label sounds like a good idea x
  • Firstly Hazel - please read post 5.

And secondly - my partner would not order a pair of knee high boots with 'embellishments' for me ( I think he knows my taste well enough not to do this) and certainly not from Barratts!

Anyway - thank you all again for your input - it is appreciated.

As I previously stated I will let them know they can collect them in a few weeks when I am on Mat leave.
