Someone made a mistake, a decent human being would recognise that and give a little to help out. I find it bizarre that the only time a collection could be arranged is a Sunday - that neither the neighbours, a family member or the OP could be available on (for instance) a Saturday morning.
To me, knowing that couriers do not work on a Sunday, the OP's insistence that the collection can only happen then implies she is being difficult for the sake of it.
I think given SOME of the posts on this forum recently about keeping items which have been sent in error - your comments about the OP are rather offensive.
She has had the courtesy to NOTIFY barratts about THEIR MISTAKE and has given them ample opportunity to collect the items - given that she is 7 months pregnant, has a toddler, is currently caring for said toddler on her own and works full time, I am amazed that she has ANY time available -
you say why couldn't she ask for a saturday collection - well perhaps she is out buying groceries for her family on a saturday - or visiting relatives or even just busy - time is limited when you work full time and why she should arrange her life to suit their company is beyond my comprehension
I can't believe the comments she has been subjected to for NOT GOING OUT OF HER WAY to rectify THEIR MISTAKE
OP sit back and wait until your on Mat leave and well done for your honesty0 -
Barratts could send a prepaid label, either for the postal service or collect+. If they choose not to do this, they are the ones causing difficulties, not the OP.0
-
As one of those that said it was unreasonable to only allow Sundays, having now read many of ops responses as to why I do have to retract that comment.
The best way would be for them to just provide a pre-paid postage label for RM so op or anybody she knows can nip in the PO in passing over the next few weeks OR to tell the shop they can be collected when ops partner returns.0 -
Tell them to call up the manager of the Barratt store nearest to the OP and get them to pick it up on Sunday. The man without a signature.0

Or... leave them in the box, have the baby (good luck with that), hope it's a girl, in about 17 years they may fit her and knowing how fashion is, the "embellishments" will probably be in fashion.....
So consider it a present from Barratts - you may even make the local paper in the future : )0 -

Devil's advocate.
So she works 6 days a week ? That is well passed full time.....
Not got any time off over christmas/new year?
How does she manage to go shopping etc?
Who looks after the child while at work?
Childminder? Could item be left there for pick up.
Leave it with a neighbour for pick up....Never ASSUME anything its makes a>>> A55 of U & ME <<<0 -

Why should she use her time off over Christmas to hang around waiting for a courier?
She's already said why she can't carry a big box to work - the same applies to the childminders.
It's Barratts mistake. It's their job to accept the resolution that causes the minimum possible inconvenience to the OP.0 -
I'm not sure when OP received the boots, but if it was prior to Christmas, lot's of courier services were working Sundays in order to meet demand, so Sunday would not have been an unreasonable request.
And to all those that are saying the OP is being unreasonable, who are you to sit and judge people? The OP has informed Barretts of their mistake and giving them a solution to the problem when it is convenient to the OP. It is not her fault that it is not convenient to Barretts. Why should she have to go out her way and potentially lose money, by taking a day off work? Unless of course, Barretts are willing to compensate her a days pay...0 -
I have to say I also think it is unreasonable to demand a Sunday. Why can't your partner take the boots to his work to be collected? You don't have a neighbour whom you could ask? Also you don't have a bag that you could put the box in so you could carry it? Why are you carrying your toddler across the roads? That is unsafe, what if you fall, after all you're pregnant. You keep making that point. It seems to me that you've made no reasonable attempt at all except to demand a pick up when you know couriers don't work.0

The fact that couriers don't work on a day that's convenient to the OP is not her problem.I think the surest sign that intelligent life exists elsewhere in the universe is that none of it has tried to contact us.0
