If you record what you eat on myfitnesspal.com it will automatically calculate the amount of protein, carbs etc. Will also help you with how much you should be eating, adjusting for the amount of exercise you take. Well worth a look.

This sounds pretty helpful, will give it a go!

I've also been trying to lose some weight for the last months and just found out there are lots of apps for the mobile which can help. I installed one called "My diet diary", that controls the number of calories everyday (it also has a recommended figure depending on your gender, age, height and weight). I've been using it for a few days and it's quite helpful.

I've lost 4kg already and just have 1 more to go, so almost there now!! :)

Stop eating so much sugar and carbs! Chuck away those sugary, nasty, bran flakes! Eat proper meals of mostly protein & veg and knock the 'little & often' eating on the head.

In very simple terms, everytime you eat your body has to produce insulin to process the food. Insulin encourages your body to store fat. If you keep eating all day you never give your body a chance to get into fat burning mode because it's too busy working on the carbs!

It will change the way you think about food forever.

And @Closed - does your username refer to your state of mind? Eat less, move more is nonsense. 3500 calories = 1lb of fat? Rubbish. Calories in = energy out? Ridiculous theory. These so called 'facts' are the cruel lies that are keeping people fat. Read the about link.
You had me at your proper use of "you're".

you prefer to believe nonsense spouted on a website making money out of people, than accepted proven science, experience of billions of people, and advice from the nhs?

There is more nonsense in this thread than clarity, there is no magic cure, you have to eat less to lose weight - not drink more water (which if you go overboard can kill), not have a colonic, not eat more (the most bizarre advice), not look for starvation mode or hormonal excuses, not eat some faddy juice diet, or a different type of "healthier food", not eat more fruit, not try a different type of workout, not pay money to go to a club which says you can eat so many points, not eat carbs one day, and protein the next, not put a magnet on your head, not blame thyroids or drugs, not say but I'm eating all this healthy stuff and it's not working, not buy a wii fit and expect miracle weight loss, not eat little and more often, not eat more and less often, it's all faddy, misleading, and expensive nonsense.

Put too many calories in your mouth, you'll get fat, put fewer in than you use up, you lose weight, it couldn't be simpler. To attempt to lose weight and completely ignore the calorie content and volume of the food you are eating is doomed to failure. You can spend 16 hours in the gym every day, but if you go home and eat 20 pies to compensate, it's not going to do much good.

Exercise will accelerate the weight loss, but you can lose weight sat in front of the tv just the same, providing your mouth isn't full of cake.

Eat 1000 calories or less a day for a month, the weight will drop off. Eat 4000 calories or more a day for a month, the weight will pile on

Hey guys there is no need to fight! As for the "eat fewer than you need, you lose weight" it can't be wrong! If you need more energy than you consume the body has to burn energy stored by means of carbs/fat in order to provide the extra energy needed! But i wouldn't agree with "put too many calories in your mouth, you'll get fat" because "too many calories" is relative! If your body needs 1800 calories then consuming 2000 calories is MUCH! If your body needs 3500 calories then 2000 calories is far from "much"

We all have our own opinions and beliefs and the proof is in the pudding, if we are at our ideal weights and happy with our energy levels then we must be doing something right.

I have had colonics in the past which I believe has helped me with addictions and weight loss.

I personally can advocate the benefits through my own personal experience, but I respect those who think that it is a load of rubbish, that's their opinion. I'm not offended by that.

But I am glad that there are alternatives out there and not just medication, gastric bands, surgery.

Less time sat at a computer might help as well :)

I'm heavier than I would like to be as I have been comfort eating crisps and chocolate since a personal tragedy a few months ago but at 5 foot 2 and 9.5 stone I am not overweight by anyone's standards but my own.

Getting to my late 30's has slowed down the metabolism as well but going to the gym a few times a week is really helping with that, as my job is sedentary.
