"Emptied all my spare £1 coins into my Money Tin... has anyone else got one on the go yet? I have a loose change jar too (for 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p coins) and my 20p coins go in my TARDIS money box! £2 coins go in my Gargoyle Money Box. Gawd - it's no wonder I never have any money ha ha! (I only fill them with what's in my wallet at the end of each week mind)."
Yes! I have a collection too, I have a pot cow with a lid for shrapnel, a 'I love being pampered' pot for silver and a terramunda for £1 and £2 coins, all a bit sadly lacking in contents at the moment.

Can I ask how do you change it? I am loathe to take it to one of the change machines as they charge interest but have heard people saying lots of places don't accept them? Currently have my £25 in a shoe box!

  • Morning one and all

Have just been catching up on recent posts and Fairy3, I hope this tip might help.....
Read this on Mr B's diary, when you go to supermarket go to self serve checkout and put your excessive shrapnel into pay and the change comes out as £1 coins. Not tried it myself yet but will be doing, and failing that bag it up and take it to the bank. Im with San***De* and have never had a problem.
My Fleaby bits are up shortly but looking at them now, I know Ive not made much money, but as we all say every penny counts....
Tomorrow, Im on an induction all day, 1 of 3..... so that I can do bank shifts for extra money at where I used to work. Don't really want to have to do it as it my day off from my permanent job and I don't get paid for going.
I also phoned my mortgage lender earlier on in the week and as im on a variable rate, Ive asked them to increase my monthly payments by £30, I know its not a lot but every little helps to pay it off quicker.
Off to work very shortly, hope everyone has a good day xxx

Hello all, just checking in. A NSD for me today, battled my way through the snow out for a walk with 5 dogs all completely nuts bacause it had snowed and dogs seem to love snow :D I ended up knee deep in mud as it was covered in snow and looked solid :rotfl:
Then me and the kids went to my mums and we all had a free lunch as my dad had made soup and dumplings and boiled ham Yum! At home now with heating on :( but its really cold and the kids are complaning of this big old draughty house (that has its own weather system). We are having a quiet afternoon and i'm thinking what to do for tea that can go with spuds that need eating cos they are going green and sprouting. :p
Hope you all have a happy restful Sunday before Monday morning onslaught!
  • Hi everyone sorry haven't been on in a while been working til midnight all week so no time to pop in.

Currently up to 11 NSDs as I had a spend day yesterday for a little shop, £10.63 in total.

I'm off to Scotland for the week tomorrow so that should be a week of NSDs as we are taking pre made frozen meals & wine with us so no need to spend a penny!

Everyone is doing so well, I know we all go off the rails a little sometimes but as long as we end up back on track in the end it's all good :)

    Keep up the good motivation!!

  • Hi everyone,

I've been like a girl on fire today! I have no idea what vile spirit has overtaken me but I've made full roast chicken dinner, followed by chocolate sponge and cream (for hubby and kids), plus I've done all of my schoolwork for the week ahead (as much as I can at the moment), changed towels and bedding and been out and put my £50 petrol in the car. I have also gritted our path and driveway in expectation of the snow (due to arrive this evening), and because I'm worrying about getting into work tomorrow.
Anyway, I'm done for the day - going to put my feet up, slob, read my kindle, bath the kids and have an early night.
So I will declare nsd 10 as I don't plan to be anywhere or doing anything for the rest of the day. Cannot believe I have spent more on fuel than food so far this month.
Hope everyone is having a good day.

NSD 9 Have been away for a couple of days I have had a lovely time and have had 2 spend days that were budgeted for. Hope you are all well and warm on this snowy and cold afternoon. For those that save pennies you can use them to pay for things in the post office (Ebay postage ). My bank does change them happily tho. I like to spend half and save half. In fact I may count my pennies this afternnon I am staying home now. I have a very exciting life I can hear you say :DStay warm all p0lly x

    Planned spend day today.

Finally got round to listing some items on fleabay - although I don't think I can say 'fleabay is my friend' I don't get on with it really but as I had a few bits to get rid of, and its part of the challeng,e I thought I had better get my @rse in gear!

Baked rolls and hobnobs for packed lunches this week and DH is cooking dinner (another 30min meal!! chicken pie nom nom nom)

Doing 9am - 9pm tomorrow so need to take loads of food with me to keep me out of the canteen/shop :o

    Have a good evening everyone

    Heya!

Fairy3 - I keep a stash of coin bags (from the bank) at home... and when the pots are looking full - I bag up whatever it asks for on the bag. Bit laborious - but I agree - the change sorters charge you and you may as well be getting that money.

Have a good time in Scotland Candy!

Keep up the good work everyone... Am off to eat the stew I made yesterday!!!

    Hi everyone,

I've been ever so good and done my tax return (finally!) and have done some work I've been putting off for a while so a weight of my mind that is!! Gonna try for a few ebay items this afternoon as well.

I have to declare yesterday as one of my cheat NSD spend day thingys. I was out and about (spending nothing) and on my way back, mommy asked me to pick up some bread and milk, so I spent £3something in the supermarket (only buying what she asked for). Now I do not want to declare a spend day for this as it wasnt really my spend, but theres no way im asking my mom for the money back when theres so much she does for me. So I'm just going to take this from my budget for entertainment and declare a NSD, thats ok isn't it???
