I find this one really easy and it usually works perfectly. I've used it for loaves, buns and pizza bases. Hope you find your perfect recipe!

Evening everyone  how are you all? I just returned from NI today and managed the journey without spending anything so can clock up today as NSD number 5 :). Oh, and I found a shiny 1p so all is good!!

I have enough food to scramble something together for tomorrow (back at work) so hopefully can make it 6 in a row. I really will need a supermarket trip on Monday or Tuesday though.

I brought home a sneaky huge piece of soda bread so that'll do for breakfast in the morning then I'm knocking the carp eating (odd phrase for a vegetarian ;)) on the head.

Kat, tell Geordie Boy I've dumped him!! I think if you're looking for true love you'll not find it in him (well, maybe he'll get his act together at some stage, but I fear it'll not be within your timeframe). If that's what you're after, there are so many more people who would be more receptive to your feline charms and see you for the wonderful person you are (and be willing to walk over hot coals to see you). Whatever his reasons, GB's not fully recognising your fabulousness-have a bit of fun with him by all means, but make it on your terms too.

    So far...
    NSD: 5
    Spent: £0
    Earned: £15
    Found: 11p
Soda bread consumed: more than is good for my waistline!
  • Morning all,

I ended up getting so busy yesterday that I didn't get time to get on here and check in for the day. First grocery shop of the year, so not a nsd - but got everything we needed for £12.47, which I think is as low as I can remember for ages.
Hubby got a last minute offer of a free FA cup football ticket so was gone all day, so me and the kids did all the housework, I finally finished my book marking, then we made some carrot and coriander soup with some sad looking carrots in the fridge. Think I need to find something to do with them today that will get us all out of the house for an hour or two. Apparently we're going to have a bit of sun, and it's my last day off work so we really should make the most of it.
Went on a little mse rampage as well. As I was spending, I went ahead and spent £129 on a year's phone line rental from BT, saves about a fiver a month if paid up front. Also did a bit of utilities price fixing to save me another £65 for the year. The £129 up front makes it even tighter for January moneywise but it'll be worth it over the year as I'll be able to put the £ I'd normally pay for the phone/internet aside ready to pay in advance next year.
So a productive day (although I still haven't bothered myself with eBay - really must get on and do that, I have a few things sitting about the house).
Kat, don't waste any more of your time on Geordieboy - he isn't worth it. x

Have a good day all. As I've already had 2 spend days out of 5 I'd better start reining it in a little.

The good food bread is the one I tried. It came out veryyyy sticky so I think I added too much water. Also tasted a bit yeasty?

Will try again this afternoon x
  • Morning campers!
Heading for NSD 5 today. :j Going to family for lunch today and not planning to venture near any shops so my pennies shall remain mine!!! Find it so funny that after years and years of in my head believing that I was being careful with money, now realising how unaware i have been of the amount of money flying out our account. At the moment I am getting just as much of a buzz out of not spending money as I used to get from spending money. It was completely normal that on a Sunday morning I would tootle off to Tescos just for one or two things and come back easily with £20 worth of 'stuff'. That alone is £100 a month!!!
Back to work tomorrow after the xmas holidays and can't wait to get back in class and in a routine. 6 packed lunches to sort this afternoon but have plenty in to do them with. Soooooooo love hearing how everyone else is doing!!!!

    Morning everyone.

I have just spent a depressing hour or so creating an all singing, all dancing spreadsheet which, in effect, tells me what I already knew - I cannot go on the way I am going. Somehow seeing it in black and white (or red in my case) clarifies the thinking. The upshot is that I need to aim to have a month or two of NSDs just to start treading water!! However the heating is prepaid (oil!!!), the freezers are well stocked and the store cupboard has its own spare store in the wardrobe (think - being obsessed about being snowed in!!) so I wont starve or freeze. Ebay is an option - but I am not over hopeful at the moment.

How did I get in this position? Truthfully it was all my own fault - put it on the credit card was my mantra! However I have a loan which finishes this november and so will release nearly £300 into the pot and so will help with the repayments - I just need to hang on until then. I have also just redeemed my premium bonds - only £100 but it all helps.

Feeling dispirited but in control - off to load up the slow cooker with a sausage casserole for tonight. Sorry to be so down on such an uplifting thread. Hugs to everyone xx

Thanks L2B - normally I'm an upbeat person but that just suddenly hit me. On the upside tho I have plenty to be greatful for - not only food and heat - as you say - but two treats that have already been paid for to look forward to - the pictures this coming weekend (and my friends owe me for their tickets!) and strictly on tour in february. I think that i read somewhere else on this thread that we need treats to keep us going.

I have also just raided the veg box - discovered enough to keep me going this week - without breaking into the freezer or store cupboard. I also have a voucher for £10 at morrisons so my aim is to have NSD's until next weekend, take sandwiches instead of buying a meal before the pictures and then only buy essentials at morrisons and aim to keep as much of my small grocery allocation intact as possible.

Thanks again for you support xx

    Hi all, Just checking in!

Firstly want to say everyones doing so well and hope everyone with the flu is feeling better soon!
It was a big spend day for me yesterday.... we went out for a meal as DH is away today and we wont see him for 3 months. The meal was expensive (theres 5 of us) and I cant help feeling guilty, but on the upside I think it was justified and i'm especially proud of myself as I kept off the booze!
Soooo today is definately a no spend day, the kids, dogs and I are vegging and getting ready for school and work tomorrow. Will have a look for some more ebay items I think and get some listing done.
