"I am not administering the estate, and do not know who is. Please do not contact me again."

shall I enclose the death certificate as they requested? They asked for it but I don't want to enclose it if it means I will have started administering the estate

    No .
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.

    No .

So just a letter saying I am not administering the estate and leave it at that?

The other companies I contacted when she died that requested a death certificate, shall I just not contact them again unless I hear from them and say the same to them then?

The letter from the CC company says statements will be sent until the balance is settled. I hope I don't keep getting letters! They said the monthly statement will be sent to be and will be addressed to the personal representative of the late xxx. Shall I say in my reply, "do not send the monthly statements to me as I am not the personal representative as I am not administering the estate?" Is it worth mentioning she doesn't have enough money in the estate to pay off the balance or not?

Also, some companies wanted me to write to them to inform them that she died. Shall I sent letters without my name or address on telling them this?

You could tell them where they could purchase a copy of the Death Certificate, you don't have to pay for anything.

I heard that sending off death certificates is technically dealing with the estate.

Anyone can buy someone else's death certificate. Sending a copy to someone else doesn't mean you've taken on responsibility for the estate.

As you don't want creditors chasing you, don't send out any death certificates. If the firms want certificates, they can buy them.

Use securityguy's sentence - "I am not administering the estate, and do not know who is. Please do not contact me again." - and just keep saying it again and again to anyone who contacts you.

    Yes.

It's their stamp, and their stationary. After all, you aren't the representative, and being a well brought up young lady you don't open other people's post. Either throw them away or return them "not known at this address".
Shall I say in my reply, "do not send the monthly statements to me as I am not the personal representative as I am not administering the estate?"

Yes, if you want. Alternatively, see above.
Is it worth mentioning she doesn't have enough money in the estate to pay off the balance or not?

No. There could be millions, for all you know. As you aren't administering the estate, it's none of your concern how much money there is. They should contact whoever is administering the estate or, if they are so minded, apply to administer it themselves. Their time, their money.
Also, some companies wanted me to write to them to inform them that she died. Shall I sent letters without my name or address on telling them this?

You're going to be spending a lot on stamps. You don't need to.

    Thanks :)

The letter from the CC company sent to me said they will be sending CC statements to me now but addressed to the personal representative.

the weird thing is the letter said, due to the credit act they cannot alter the name of the cardholder. why on earth would I want it altering? Who would want to put their name on a credit card in debt? lol

They want to force you into dealing with the estate because it makes their life easier.

Don't open the letters, just put "return to sender" on the envelope and send them back.
