  • Lol, age is only a number! If he would make a nice friend then don't give him total brush-off. You can explain you are not looking for a full-blown romantic relationship but nowt wrong with having some company and someone on your side. Could be helpful too if boiler or similar breaks, and will build up your network of friends through his?
Another thought, are you using credit card for work fuel?? You get cards that give you rewards too (eg Tesco points which can be doubled up). I believe there are also cards specificially for fuel (google it) least that way you could pay card off when work coughs up.
Keep smiling, obviously works wonder with the men!

Well today has been ok. Got a letter from Santander to say they have acknowledged I've paid PPI I didn't want so I may get some money back? Fingers crossed!

I need to phone up the CSA tomorrow as I was supposed to start getting paid through them from the 10th of this month. Only £5 per week as he's (the ex!) ison benefits but he took the mickey so I thought I'd take even that! I sat down and worked out how much he actually owes me in unpaid maintenance (which was ordered through the courts), money I paid out to sell his flat and train fares I paid for him so he could see his sons when he said he couldn't afford it! £5,961.82 in total  That would come in handy but I've got more chance of winning the lottery :(

Gailscotland, the guy I was fending off I really do need to keep at arms length! Not just the age gap but also I am friends with his mum and also his sister is my childminder! It would so not go down well if it got out that I had been seeing him even as a friend! Where i live everyone knows everyone so you certainly cant jave secrets! I also know he has had a lot of problems with drugs (cannabis) in the past! He smashed his mums house up once and she came round to me in tears as she didn't know where to go! I think he's over that now but even so I have enough to sort out! He is a nice guy and quite cute too but not what I need for sure!:o

Thanks for the advice re the CSA. I had it all confirmed in writing that the payments should have started now!

I was going to pay the £10 each fortnight off a card as I've been used to not having it!

Three more CDs sold on eBay tonight and bids on three more! It's only a few quid but will all help. Bit annoyed as been contacted by a buyer of a CD I sold last week. Was a double CD and sold for 99p plus £2 postage! To be fair postage was about right maybe a few pence more than my cost but not huge difference. I checked all the CDS before I listed them to make sure they were ok. The buyer has asked for compensation as says one of the discs is cracked! I know it wasn't but don't want bad feedback so have offered 50p. Half the price of the CD. I have stated i believed the CD was fine but i would make an offer as a goodwill gesture. Postage wouldn't have been any cheaper. Do you think this is reasonable? Hear do many horror stories of nightmare buyers! I'd almost be too embarrassed to ask for something against an item of that value:o

Oh well. I'll see what they say! Relisted the unsold ones as well.

Off to bed now, busy day again tomorrow.

Ugh, there are always some buyer who will try it on. You have to accept a % of returns/"no shows" even if you don't believe them. You can either refuse to deal with them and get negative feedback, or reimburse and take a small hit on profits.

I chose to reimburse for a quiet life. If the item is cheap, I think it's worth keeping your feedback intact. A pain tho :(

Well I haven't heard anything from the buyer claiming their disc was damaged! So I'm assuming they are just putting up with it:o

One buyer is driving me nuts! Bought two CDs for 99p I was charging £2 postage and they asked for a discount  I know times are hard but seriously! Anyway gave them 50p off, then when they eventually paid I emailed them to say thanks I've posted them. That was Friday and it was the day after the had paid. Then yesterday the emailed me to say could I confirm I sent them! When I said I already had confirmed that and that they had been posted 2nd class Royal Mail as per the item description and if they hadn't received them y Thursday they should contact me they said that I was being curt  Good grief! What is the matter with people! I was merely pointing out that they probably were being a bit quick of the mark chasing delivery considering we have had a weekend! Oh well!

I've just spoken to the CSA too. Ex was supposed to be paying £5 per week through them from 1 Jan and I haven't had anything yet! Apparently the benefit office have rejected their claim, twice:eek: So either they have stopped paying him benefit for some reason or there is some other problem. They are going to chase it up though but looks like it might be a while before I get anything! Nothing new there!

Did an economy shop yesterday. I've been reading the cheap meals thread and realising how little imagination I have! So Toad in the Holes, sausage pasta and sausage casserole for us this week! Hoping there's no horse meat in the sausages as got them from Tesco :o

Feeling very guilty for not being on here but last week was so busy with work that I just don't know where the time went. I was away for two nights and thankfully my parents had my boys for me.

Anyway I returned Friday morning and disaster struck! The whole weekend has been a bit of a blur really. When I got home I had a call (well several messages) from the dog sitter. It turns out that our little dog had been unwell and she had taken him to the local vet where he still was. When I got to the vet he was lifeless and on a drip and they had no idea what was wrong with him. I transferred him that lunch time to another vet so they could do some X-rays and scans. He was critical by then and they still had no idea why. That evening I had to move him to another vet so that he got overnight care! After a 40 minute journey they made us wait in the waiting room for over 20 minutes! When we eventually went in he was laid dying on the table while the vet just kept asking questions. When he eventually started going stiff she panicked, grabbed him and ran off to resuscitate him. I had to drive to get blood for a transfusion and eventually got home at 1:30am to no hot water and heating:eek: So Saturday, had to get the boiler fixed. Luckily only £30! Then back to the vets! Basically very little change in the dog. He was slightly brighter. Started home about 10pm and halfway home got a call to say he'd gone downhill slightly and they wanted to transfer him but needed to find a specialist centre to take him. I pulled over and waited. Just over an hour and a half later they phoned to say I should head home. Then 1am I get a call to say I could transfer him to London! I'm 35 mins from the practice and they are 1hr and a half from London! So it's decided to leave him where he is as he's probably not stable enough for the journey! Then 7am and another call! Can I get over to transfer him to a specialist centre. A good 40 minutes the other side of them! So at 7:30 I'm out of the house and on my way! After another blood transfusion and some investigations it's found he has been attacked by a bigger dog, probably a labrador! He's a toy poodle. He has one punctured lung, damaged liver and pancreas, tooth indents on his rib bones but no breaks! They put in a chest drain and drew off 240ml of blood from his chest cavity! Considering his total blood volume is probably only about 280ml it's no wonder he was so poorly! It looks like he is going to pull through now but still not totally clear yet!

Well I do have pet insurance. Thank god! BUT what I didn't know was that vets want paying up front and the insurers pay you! I need to work out how the hell I am going to find the money upfront! I'm thinking I might have to sell some jewellery. I have a really lovely necklace and bracelet that I really wanted to keep but I guess it's just stuck in a drawer and this is our dog! I suppose then when I do get the money back from the insurance I can pay off a debt with it. :o

Sorry this is such a long post. Think I needed to get it all down to make some sense of it as well! Roll on February! The first is going to be the start of my new year as January really has been awful :(:(

I promise to keep on top of this diary now too! :o

You poor thing :( My sister is a vet, and I know that some practices are willing to work with owners when it comes to paying bills. Worth having a chat and seeing if you could pay in installments? Or you might be able to postpone paying the bill by a month or so to give you time to find the money.
