Have been reading from the beginning. You can do this. You come across so positive and determined.
Annoying re the boiler and flat but like you say at least you have the money and it hasnt gone on a CC.
Keep at it, hopefully the ebay cash will be yours

Not sure it will be a fortune as only CDs listed at 99p but every little helps and the eBay money will definitely go straight off the cards! Extra work next week and this coming Friday will hopefully help too! I'm tempted to keep the money separate and let it build up enough to clear the first card just in case ..... again! The lowest of the 26.4% one has to go first as its not that high a value (well when compared to the others) so will have a certain feel good factor about clearing one off the listMBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

Well it's Monday. Start of a new week and I really want to keep up the extra payment. Over the last week I had put 4 £2 coins in a jar with the plan to save them but due to the minor setback of the boiler I have decided to take them out and pay them off my card this week.
So £8 paid off my MBNA card this morning taking it down to £1,986 now. Obviously if the boiler turns out to be nothing awful I will use any extra money I have to pay off too.
I've just had a look at eBay too and one of my CDs is up over the £4 mark with 10 hours to go and 8 watchers. Quite a few more with bids on tooMBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

Not too sure about this idea. While money is building up, so will the interest on the cc. Every £ paid off will be less interest given to the bank. Also if it is sat somewhere 'building up' I know I would have the temptation to dip into it if I needed to. Obviously whatever works for you but I wopuld be tempted to pay it to the cc as and when you get it.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I know what you're saying about paying bits off as soon as I get the money. I am very good at not dipping into it as I tend to keep it hidden rather than in a bank account. I only used it last time as otherwise exs flat would have been repossessed and as my name was on it they would have chased me for the deficit anyway plus it would have meant having a repossession against my name and created problems if I try and move in the future. (Only for downsizing purposes if this plan doesn't work.). If I'd paid the money straight off the cards the I wouldn't have had anywhere to get the money from!
It's a tough call I know just don't want to get caught out. Maybe I'll save £300 then pay £200 off so I always have £100 just in case?
Anyway, the leak is apparently the hot water valve. It will need replacing so they are going to phone me with a price tomorrow. Just the £54 call out fee for today! Still at least that leaves me with £26 of the £80 from the weekend.
Another good bit of news. A PPI claim I made has just come back to say they are going to pay me £134. To be honest I really didn't think I would have any to claim back as it was a credit card on 0% interest from 6 years ago. Used it for a kitchen purchase and then paid off at the end of the 0% period so never paid a penny in interest so I was just trying my luck! That will definitely go on my card as soon as I get it, along with £50 I'm waiting for from MyGov surveys :jMBNA [STRIKE]£2,029[/STRIKE] £1,145 Virgin [STRIKE]£8,712[/STRIKE] £7,957 Sainsbury [STRIKE]£6,870[/STRIKE] £5,575 M&S [STRIKE]£10,016[/STRIKE] £9,690 Barclaycard [STRIKE]£11,951[/STRIKE] £11,628 CTC [STRIKE]£7,629[/STRIKE] £6,789 Mortgage £[STRIKE]182,828[/STRIKE] £171,670

Yes I have my 25% discount on my council tax.
I had no idea that you could possibly not repay the CTC if it was their fault. They just said I needed to repay it and after reading so many scary stories about courts and possible jail I was terrified and agreed! Maybe I need to go back to them, although do you think that now I've started paying them they will make me continue? Wish I'd never bothered claiming it at all now! Probably could have managed without it and now I've just ended up with more debt through no fault of my own!
Hi Julie, I haven't read all your diary so forgive me if you have covered this in the interim! Re tax credits claimiing back money due to errors made by them. I was in a similar situation a few years back. I was randomly reviewed and written to being told I owed them £6K. I'm self employed and after trying to sort the issue out myself I turned for help to my accountant who discovered that it wasn't I who owed them £6K but they owed me £1K!! Would it be worth speaking to someone who specialises in tax to help you argue your case. Also, it may just be they are trying to claim monies that are not actually due to them as was the case with me! Hope that helps and you get it sorted. Whatever, I would def stop paying them back. You've done everything properly, the tax crdit system is so complicated its no wonder anomies occur and thats not your fault. I also now make a note of every tel call, every bit of correspondence I have with them so I have the back up of evidence if anything like it should happen again. All the best with your debt repayments. My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)

If they tell you to get stuffed go to the Parliamentary Ombudsman and ask for their response to this. Your MP a well (waste of time but still worth a shot).
Don't take somebodys word on the phone, ever, Get it in writing and go as far as you can, its only a few stamps at the end of the day.

Hi Julie again, just read some more of your diary! Yes, do go to your MP as suggested here re the tax credit thing. I did that and its coming back to me now how one of the biggest areas of complaint MP's apparently deal with relates to tax credits!before my accountant became involved. Do not be intimidated by the tax credit advice from CTC. I can recall not being taken seriously with them until I said I had seen my MP, or that my accountant was getting involved. If I hadn't done either of those I think I would be like you at the mo repaying money that was not actually requiring repayment . Good luck.
Anyway, stay positive and as others have said you can do this and are doing fantastically to date. Give yourself a well done cuppa!!!!My debts at LBM (2009)Grand Total £161,983.77.(Incs everything, mtge, cr cards, loans)
