Well I had given myself a list of things to do today and have failed pretty miserably to be honest. :o

The list and achievements as follows:

Do expenses for work and submit Done - apart from submitting as computer won't let me in to do it so need to wait for IT Dept to sort it out! Now Completed
Check on a couple of sales Done
Arrange to meet an ex colleague to look at sharing meetings
    Print target list
    Place a literature order

Pay credit card bills and other bills Done
    Reconcile bank account Done
Work out debts and overpayments Done but need to update/post on here!:oNow done

Arrange school pickup and drop off for Monday as I have an early start and late finish Done

Buy bread Done and I didn't buy anything else :D

Book a Drs appointment for me

Check details of possible work for Friday night and book childminder Done

Get a list of parents and their email address from DS1's class (I'm class rep for the year!) Requested and awaiting Still waiting
Send all parents a welcome email and reminder of upcoming meetings and events

10 minutes on the cross trainer Took boys to the BMX track and had an hours walk as my bike has a puncture :(

    Put 3 items on ebay

Ok so I've cleared a few more items off the list. Getting there!

Bess1234 I've been rounding up payments on all my cards and making extra weekly payments on the lowest one with a joint highest interest rate. I am going to clear that this weekend and I was going to close it but they have now sent me a letter offering me 0%. I had too much debt before for anyone to help me :(

So I've gone through the cards I have and looked at the interest rates. Sainsburys is good at 2.92% no time limit, Barclaycard (the highest balance) is at 21.9%, M&S card is 18.9% and Virgin is 26.48%. The credit limit on the card I'm clearing isn't high enough to transfer a whole balance and I can't see them increasing it so I'm planning to move as much as I can from the Virgin card, probably about £2,200 then when I start getting my CSA money next month I will pay that off the Virgin card too so get that one cleared ASAP. Just looking at the amount of interest I'm paying each month is enough to make me determined that I have to do this, no matter how long it takes! :o

Is it the MBNA card that you're going to be paying off? I don't think you'll be able to balance transfer between those two as they are in effect the same company.

  • Hi, yes Virgin is MBNA under the covers so they won't let you transfer a cc from another 'partner' MBNA card - but if they've offered the 0% on a cash transfer then you could bounce it through your bank account. Downside is the fee is usually a higher percentage, and if you've got overdrafts it can get confusing. Depends on the amount your paying in interest - last time I had to do that, I worked out the fee was equivalent to less than 3 months interest payments, for a 12 month interest free period, so figured it was worth it. Hope that makes sense!

p.s. am still in awe of your energy - I get tired just looking at your to do lists!!:rotfl:

Ok so a quick update before I drag myself out of bed! Got lots done yesterday but still haven't booked my Drs appointment or done any ebaying :o

I've worked out the fee if I do my balance transfer via my bank account will be £80. The monthly interest via my Virgin card on that amount is £48.55, so a saving of £502.60 over the 12 month interest free period :D

I worked last night, childminder cost me £25 but was worth the whopping £300 I will get, plus someone gave me a box of chocolates. Not helpful for my diet but lovely all the same. I'm using this extra money to cover the school fees arrears so I only need another £110 pounds and I have the money for the end of September's payment and can get a head start on Octobers :D

Right the plan today is to get the housework done, then go blackberry picking. Need some to go with all the lovely apples on my tree! This afternoon DS1 has a party. Had to buy a present but managed to get 3 fab books in The Works for £10. I know I only needed 1 but they were £5 each so made sense to get the two extras which will go away for other presents. Tonight, weather dependant we might go down the seafront.

Ok time to get out of bed before I'm getting nagged! :o

I've just nipped on to update and with a bit of hope try and get myself back on line.

I seem to have lost momentum a bit! :( I'm feeling really disappointed with myself as just don't seem to be on top of anything at the moment. DS2 came down with a cold over last weekend and the. I got it so I've spent the last three days with a splitting headache and feeling shattered!

I was going to work tonight but I think I just need to stop and have an early night! I also need to start getting some things sorted so I'm planning to do a "to do" list tonight. Hopefully that won't be too taxing and should make me feel better :o

Ok so it's Monday morning, the start of a new week and time to get back on track and get things done again. The cold has gone so renewed energy and time to crack on.

Admin day today so at least it gives me chance to get some bits done in between. Yesterday was a tough day. I picked the boys up from their dads first thing. DS1 had an audition for a pantomime, the first big dance audition he's been too and what an eye opener! There were more than 300 kids there. The parents of some are so pushy I just couldn't believe it. He was one of the youngest there and definitely the smallest boy by a long way. He did great with his dancing but to be honest I think he was probably too small as all the kids that got through were a fair bit taller than him. Bless him, he was so disappointed. He had a few tears outside which broke my heart :( It's so hard as I know I'm going to find this tough. We've had a chat and he wants to keep pursuing the auditions, I know he'll get more knock backs but it just seems hard at such a young age.

I had a bit of a result with Tesco. I was kicking myself a little bit at first as I went and did my shopping at the weekend and spotted a jumper which would be perfect for my mum for Christmas, so I bought it. When I got home I noticed they had charged me twice, so I phoned them and they said no problem, go back and I would not only be refunded but would get double the difference! Result! Free jumper :o Anyway, when I went in they said that was discretionary to the store! I argued that the person on the phone had said it was company policy so ended up phoning the number again on my mobile phone whilst I was at the customer service desk! I then put it on speaker phone and gave it to the woman at the desk! Final result £36 refunded :D

Right I am getting on track today so here is my list (makes grim reading) :-

    Work
    Print off expenses and post
Enter all new meeting booked on system and complete forms
    Finalise last weeks calls
Pre plan entries to month end

    Misc/Home
    Sort out Tesco refund
Pick up swim shorts from John Lewis via Waitrose
    Clean kitchen floor
    One load of washing
    Hoover through
    Clean bathroom
Pick apples off the lawn and make an apple pie/chop up and remainder
Pick up prescriptions from the chemist
    Complete DS1s Theatre forms
    Complete DS1s football forms
    Post council tax forms

Awesome!!! Well done, Tesco are a rip off so I love that you managed to get a free jumper out of them!!! Well done :)
Bless your DS. It's hard getting knock backs but it will make him stronger & develop a thick skin which will be beneficial to him when he's an adult :) he as you to lean on right now & that's what counts.

Well I've sort of done most of what I had to do along side all the usual day to day stuff. You know work, sorting out the boys, eating:o

DS1 has also got himself a part in Aida too so I've filled in licence forms, medical forms and got written permission for his time off school!

The diet hasn't started very well and I'm feeling so tired I just need to get in the right frame of mind. I was so tired last night I was asleep at 8:30 last night  I must be getting old.

Still feeling a bit overwhelmed with everything at the minute and need to start doing a few things that will give me that feel good factor again. Not sure where to start with that :o

Right, hold that thought, better get my backside into gear as have to get to a meeting for 12:30!!!!
