quick update, new tyres on the car, went this afternoon though so didn't have to pay to park the car ;)

Ds1's eyes are perfectly fine!! No excuse for him to be a cm away from the page when writing.

Welcome goldblend, I am chuffed the debt is under £24k, not so impressive that it is still £3.5k over what it was 4 years ago and have been trying to bust the debt for 3 of them years!!! Lol!
    December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

  • The sun is shining here today, so washing machine on and boys playing out!! :D

Had a bit of a wobble this morning, but hubby has talked sense into me. Had a bit of a "i wish" moment. But it will be all the sweeter knowing we have worked hard to clear the debt and build up a nest egg.

Nothing extra going towards the debts or debt fund this month as money needed for hubby's car insurance. Gonna try my best to get it the cheapest possible. have £400 ear marked so any less and the extra will go to the debt fund. That is my main motivation!

Also been thinking about building up a bit of soiled area at the front of the house and having it as a mini veg plot. Have tried to grow stuff in the past in pots but i worked 12hr days then and couldnt keep up with it. Kids older now and i am supposed to work office hours so may work. Even if we grow salad stuff and easy veg: beetroot, carrots etc??? Just have to convince the hubby!

  • The hubby is now the proud owner of a 0% credit card with the balance of the mbna card winging its way to it. Means only the loan has interest on it now. Its only a small % i was paying on the mbna but interest all the same!!

  • On a roll today, got the car insurance £80 cheaper!!!!

Had £400 in the fund to pay for the insurance so the extra can now wing its way to the debt fund :D:D:D:D:D:D:D

    Hi Rags!!!

Well done - as you said... it does seem like it is all finally clicking into place!

As for the mini-wobble.... I have them quite often... especially when I have managed to set aside a tiny amount of spare money for a little treat and then something crops up and the money gets used for something mundane. Thats what annoys me the most!!

Oh well, we are all moving in the right direction!!!

Hello! I am being very naughty and writing this sat at my new desk with my new computer at work :D

All is still well in the rags household.
Managed to transfer the mbna card to a 0% one so total has gone up slightly with the transfer fee but we should start to see the total reduce a little quicker. Will post amounts next week as it will be may (where is this year going?!?!?!?!)

We have also booked another of the newspaper holidays. Going at the end of the summer hols, as i remember we always have nice weather as the kids go back to school so should be good. Figured that we might as well start giving the kids some good memories whilst they are still children (!!!) and they wont remember how much holidays cost, just the fun they had. I would much rather have 2 very cheap caravan holidays with lots of memories where we can still pay off the debt rather than a short, lavish, expensive holiday once in a blue moon. As they say, money doesnt make memories!!

Also going to start taking loads of photos on holidays and start keeping albums so they can look over them. I have loads of photos but due to the cost i just store them on my computer instead of printing them out. Shame it took the kids looking at my childhood pics to realise they wont have that with their kids, even more so if (touchwood) my computer and external hard drive die.

We are still managing to eat out the freezer after filling, and dont think i will have to top it up for a while. Have got out of meal planning which is naughty but have kept up with the shopping list. First week went a bit mad and got all the stuff i needed like washing powder and cleaning stuff i usually spread out so didnt really save, but last week we came in at £50ish so well under budget. The cook from frozen meat has been a little hit and miss, the chicken legs are fine, but was disappointed with the minted lamb chops. Will just make my own next time (note to self:research recipes for the minted marinade!)

Hope everyone is keeping well, a certain few seem to have disappeared?!?!?
