  • Well shopping came in just under £80 so slightly over budget but never mind. Looking at the spends account i will hopefully have some money left over to use towards filling the freezer again.

Meal plan going well, the cowboy casserole for tonight looks interesting, will see how it goes down.

Need to do some more goodies for the boys boxes. Will have a scan about for some ideas. Twinks hobnobs always goes down well and have been adding things like raisins and choc chips to add variety.

Whats cowboy casserole??? I think I can manage to get Pip to eat anything if its got "cowboy" in front of it! He refused to eat mild chilli because of "the big red bug things" until I started calling it cowboy chilli ;)

  • The cowboy casserole is like a shepards pie almost.....you put cooked sausages in the bottom of the dish, cover with a bean sauce made from beef stock, tomato puree, curry powder, grated carrot, onion, baked beans and mixed beans (i used butter and bortolli beans as my 2 dont like kidney beans) and top with mash and bake for 30 mins.
Me and the hubby really enjoyed it but ds2 wasnt impressed at all and ds1 wasnt keen but ate most of it (more than likely out of hunger than anything else:rotfl:)
Oh well, chicken and chorizo stew tonight. I made it last night so just need to reheat and it smells yummy. Hoping the kids and the hubby like this one as i love chorizo!

Watched a programme last night called extreme money saving and all i can say is :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: Some of the things they were doing to save money!!! one fella went round tables when they ate out asking if he could have peoples left overs off their plate (they had only just finished eating mind!!) and carried round a box to collect it all
Each to their own i guess.

  • Not much to report today.

Moneywise, the hubby got his weekly pay so bank account back in the black, on my calculations (and if nothing else is needed/happens/crops up) then we should be back on track with the amount left in the account before the mortgage comes out. Having all the spends in the one account seems to have worked this month.

Really needing to fill the freezer and i keep seeing things i could stock up on on appr0ved f00ds. But am being very good and not spending. Its getting hard though.................bad temptation, bad!!

Have the nice weather back again, makes it easy to do free things as a family like walking! We live in such a nice area to walk in but just dont do it. The kids really enjoyed it last weekend so hoping to do some more this weekend.

Have got my baking worked out for the weekend too, although may start tonight so im not in the kitchen all day when the weather is nice. Kids have really got into malt loaf recently so gonna try and find a recipe for that.

Have also started back on a diet/healthy eating plan. On day four and suprisingly I have stuck to it and havent found myself starving by day 3 i normally do. Also upped the amount of water i am drinking, and its only today that i dont feel water logged (IYKWIM)
    :rotfl:

Time for lunch, prawn pasta salad for me! whats everyone else having??

  • Still not much to report really, my payday next week so all the fun can start again.

Had some lovely weather recently meaning lots of nice smelling, dry laundry and our veggie plants have grown nicely. Should hopefully start to see some produce. Has poured down today but at least I don't need to water the garden.

Have got my £5 off ald! Shop from the paper today, and it also had some money off vouchers. Don't need or use a lot of the products but some of the baking bits will come in handy.

Diet going ok. Lost 1lb last week. Not much but still a loss. Wanting to lose a stone before my next week away at the start of sept.

  • I made use of the fact the hubby is often going into the garage. And the fact that i get the mse email at work now too as i dont always have time to read it properly at home.

Got my phone bill through today to be paid in july. Not sure how but its £8 cheaper than it was at the start of the year. Not complaining. Maybe its due to not being able to send picture messages for some reason and that i have now got wireless connection at home and at work?! Its not what you know, but who! :rotfl:

The mortgage come out on monday and am happy to report that i am back on track with having money left in my account before hand. Now the challenge is to increase that amount so will finally be in the black permanantly. Thats the dream anyway. Has shown that seperating the spends totally works.

Cant believe the kids finish school in 3 weeks. Makes for an expensive time of the year for me with childcare though. Gonna have to knuckle down this next two months i think. Or pray for a lottery win, which ever comes first :rotfl:

This weeks shopping came in at £62!!:D:D Will have to use the bills account for fuel this week but it will only be £20. Not bad at all for this month!!

Off to the park on our estate today as having a summer fair thing. Tea will consist of burgers from their bbq, 50p each and kids think its a right treat! bargain.
