Thanks Ali...........having a complete blonde moment - what's overnight cake??????
Well it is good news on the job front......it's now permanent!! Just have to get through my interview with the inspection bodies next. Doing my nvq 5 should help with this I hope as all the stuff is fresh in my head. I just hope I don't do what I normally do and lose my words then ramble nervously!!
Will find out new wage etc on Monday.
Been thinking about putting the boys on school dinners too. It's very disheartening putting the boxes together (with the boys I might add) and they come home with a half eaten box and food just gets wasted. They have them on a fri and seem to eat well, but boxes are just rushed to go and play outside. I see it as money thrown in the bin, and it may bring our shopping money down as shouldn't need to buy as much bumf for lunches.December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

Sorry Rags, I think it was MiT who wanted the recipe and I'm still waiting for my friend to email it to me! It's a fruit cake but you leave the mixture overnight before baking it. Lasts a good week too. Note to self to chase up friend
Congratulations on the job going permanent for you, that is super news and really pleased for you :T:T:T Hope the salary news was good today as well.
I've found as DS has got older that he eats less at lunchtimes as he's too busy getting involved in activities and library duty, so I naughtily just carry some things over to the next day! Including his bread roll :rotfl: Seems to be quite common amongst his friends too talking to some of the mums - so I've taken the stance of making sure he has a good breakfast and dinner at night and not worrying too much. He's not stacking up on sweets/choc or energy drinks as they're banned at his school and confiscated on sight, but he always drinks at least one bottle of water during the day which the school encourages (they're allowed it in lessons). His grades and progress isn't suffering so I think he just eats when he's hungry - and that's usually as soon as he gets in the front door after school!:rotfl:Back on the DFW Wagon:

well, I'm not sure I have much in the way of news.
This month we seem to have made head way with the bank accounts. Nice not to panic that I won't have enough to cover stuff after the mortgage goes out.
Have got ds1 some lovely jumpers off the bay of e. He looks proper smart now and all were under a fiver each including postage! Bargain. We also got ds2 a lovely winter coat in the next size up for less than a tenner including postage! All wiped out my clothes fund but least the boys look owned now :rotfl:
My new wage will start in April so no difference till my May wage. Thinking of putting an extra £100 into the debt fund and then split the rest into the car fund, Xmas fund and house fund. That could change as it does on a daily basis. Have also got a bonus scheme that could mean an extra £3k every quarter, but it's performance based so not including that in any plans. However much bonus I get ( it's tiered so max performance = £3k, less performance = £250) will go straight to the debts.
Kids going onto school meals after April half term. This will reduce our food spends over the weeks. I'm looking forward to not having to think about lunches any more! There is only so many ways to make a packed lunch exciting, not mushed up by the time they get to school with named brand stuff as kids tease if it's a cheap version. This really annoys me as it's good stuff, and the kids prefer ald!'s stuff to named stuff, but peer pressure gets in the way.
Happy Friday everyone!December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

Hello, have been AWOL for a while but still on the wagon.
Had a lovely holiday in the end, worried for nothing, although think others were not so lucky as the que for the complaints desk was always there and I'm sure people left early.
Kids have gone onto school lunches which is so much easier. Food shop reduced too, bonus.
Debt wise am on track. Will have enough in the debt fund in May to pay off the balance on the cc. Have taken a 0% money transfer on the cc so £2k off the loan will be winging its way over. Hopefully this will help with how much we pay over all. The plan is to get the loan down so we can transfer it all to a 0% deal. This will save us loads over all.
Should find out what my new wage will be with my pay rise and new tax code. Can then budget where the extra will go.
Not much else to report.......... Oh got half a pig this week from my friends farm, so many cuts of pork in my freezer, need to look up pork recipes!! Good job we like pork. :rotfl:

I have officially paid half my debt off!!!!!!!!!!!
Not much else to report. I have paid the old balance on the cc off, so now the only debt I have is the loan with some of it now nicely at 0%. It's a day I never thought I would see but has been a long time coming!
It's a happy day in the rags household!December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22

:T:T Brilliant news, well done - a fantastic milestone :T:T
Good plan on the loan and using 0% CC.
Glad the holiday was good too.
Enjoy the pork! We got porked out at one point, finally none left and whilst I had no desire to eat anymore, I picked up a YS joint recently :rotfl: Shall force myself to eat it if needs be!
Happy days with the pay increase too. :TBack on the DFW Wagon:

Hadnt realised I had been awol since may..........tut tut!
But I have still been plugging away slowly at the debt even though not posting. Have enough in the debt fund to pay off the cc too, an will take me into the single figures with this months payments too.
I have been doing money transfers and paying that off the loan to bring it down, I like the idea of having little amounts on the cc to target and yet the loan amount comes down too, meaning less interest over all.
Have also started on the home improvements too. Managed to finally save up and have all my gutters replaced. Now I have to look out of the window to see if is raining instead of listening for the large drips as it came over the sides of the gutters. Makes sleeping through this wild weather we have up here at the moment al lot easier.
Now to start saving for new windows as the ones we have are carp and are so drafty. The people who made over the house property developing styley, did so very cheap and have bodged a lot of it. Will have been in the house for 8 years this year, and only just able to sort these issues out.
Settled in to my new role at work. Its more problem solving than anything else, but no day is the same! Sill waiting to hear about a date for my interview, but that's the part im dreading so.......................................
Still meal planning and taking the shopping list with us. Reduced stuff does have a habit of sneaking into the trolley, but only if enough has ben knocked off.
That's about it from me, back to work tomorrow after two weeks off, trying to mentally prepare myself.December 2018: £20,850.24. Now: £18,333.02 Total paid in 2019: £2517.22
