    Hi Rags,

Best of luck tomorrow starting the new role and hope you feel better too. Well done on getting the trial and having the back up of your old role if needs be. A win-win.

Ooh all that scrummy food, love a good roast, it's a given in this house on a Sunday :D

Glad you sorted the holiday too, sounds like the road trip will be great fun. Give the kids their own little suitcase/holdall to live out of though - I found it a nightmare mixing stuff when we did a similar thing. Don't mind DS having his own messy bag, just not mine as well :rotfl:

I love a good plan - it may not work.... but I love a good plan!
  • Good morning.

Thank you for all the good luck wishes, survived my first day although need to get my mind set sorted. Feeling as if it's all new when it's not, I have done the job in sorts in my last role. I just have the final say now, that's all that's changed.

The only downside to my new role is no uniform! I live in jeans and jumpers out of work, not appropriate for work really. And as it's the end of the month I have no money to buy some new ones. Was very tempted to order from n3xt on my account, but didn't. Just couldn't press the check out button!:rotfl: how times have changed.

Will be a quiet day for everyone as currently have no voice. It's very hoarse and disappears if I so much as try to raise my voice. Will make my job interesting today on the phone. ;)

Money wise I think I will have to transfer the tyre money across. But will wait till fri.

Morning Rags - just a couple of thoughts....

Do you have enough clothes to get you through your trial week and then get some if you decide to take the position? Also, if you need some bits for this week, Mr T's have some bits on sale.

    Laters! x

  • I have just 3 tops I could wear for work, and my trial is 4 weeks long!! Argh! Bumming nightmare, I remember now why I loved my uniform.

Ah!! 4 week trial - missed that!

    Primani it is then!!! :O)

Or charity shops - they are always full of smarter womens shirts etc. Chiffon scarves are a good way of changing the look of the same top too!

  • Not done too bad with money, spent a little more than i had wanted us to though. Only had £21 for the weeks shopping and fuel left in the spending account  so have transferred the £100 for the tyres into there. The bills account is coming along though. Bonus that I had budgeted for the council tax but it's a free month this month and next. Next months gets swallowed up by my nursing fee though :( leasts I don't have to find another £100 though, really praying that the NMC don't get their way and increase it again.

Have paid for my tax disc this morning, is it me or does the price keep going up each time you buy one?!?! But that's come out of the car fund so all good.

I can't cancel my holiday without losing my money :( so the road trip is on hold for later in the year, possibly school hols. I will just turn into one of those who turn up at reception complaining if it's filthy. DS1 asthma can't handle mould spores and thick dust. Will have to pay more though to upgrade otherwise me and the hubby are spending the week on a sofa bed in the living space as only one room. Will just use it to rest our heads and do as much as we can outside the park I think.

Meal plan to do tonight, Tuesdays tea is sorted.......PANCAKES!!!! Yum yum. Not diet friendly but it's a must!

Always seems to be the way - money comes in as spare and we go 'Yay' and then something else eats it up! A constant juggle.

You're spot on with the car tax - usually a £5 or £10 increase per year on alot of the bands. Annoying when it's announced in the March budget and I receive the tax form (for car number 2) in April - with the old amount on it. I think the zero and very low tax bands got away without an increase last year.

Don't blame you for keeping the holiday and upgrading to get a proper bed. Definitely complain and ask for it to be thoroughly cleaned or to be moved if it's as bad as the reviews. We had a hols like that many years ago and I was dreading it, but found it was actually ok, so here's hoping yours will be.

He he...pancakes for us too next Tuesday. I am now glad I didn't get to decorate the kitchen, as DS is insistent he wants to flip them so let's see what state my ceiling gets in :rotfl:

How's the job going? First week nearly done. :)

  • Job going well thanks Ali, have survived so far, went on a training day today and came away so motivated and inspired with changes to enhance the residents lives. Just need to maintain the enthusiasm and make the changes, otherwise nothing will improve, just stay stable. Just need to run things past the powers that be, then to get the staff as excited as me about changes.
Mumbles from the staff about my new role seem positive, onwards and upwards. My aim is to be the best in the area and make sure the residents still have a life no matter what their disability. Going to work on a plan tomorrow to make sure we achieve that.

What would you all look for in a care home if you were to put a loved on in one????
