  • Haven't updated on here for a little bit.
    So here is my update:

We went over the overdraft this month when the mortgage came out. really annoyed but we have had a lot to pay this last couple of months. Will get back on track.
Managed to get a new dining room table, and got £40 knocked off using a discount code. That arrives on wed, so excited! And we have enough money left over in the house fund to have my stairs re-plastered and painted.
We also have a new dryer. It's second hand but by the looks of it hasn't been used much. £25 and it's the exact dryer I wanted!! Bargain!!
And some payments to the debts have come out meaning.................

    I am under £22k!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D:D

  • My new dining table arrived and is lovely!! Ds1 can now sit on his chair safely without fear of the chair back breaking altogether and the chairs are now not resting against the wall. Its a smaller table than the last but makes tea feel a bit cosier.

The cheap face products didnt work out, came out in horrendous big, sore, red, angry spots that you couldnt pop. Am now back to original brand and my face starting to calm down. I tried.

The weather here has turned very wintery, icy cold chills in the air. Means lots of casseroles, stews and the like which are very cheap to make :D Having a big pot of stew tonight.

Need to do my meal plan for next week and do shopping list. I will stay in my food budget this month!!!!!!!

Hi Rags, well done on your debt busting so far. You can really see how your mind set has changed.

Ref the creams. Worth taking them back and asking for a refund? Or sending them back to the manufacturer and complaining. You never know you might get something out of it.....

I want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
  • Have updated my sig now all payments have come out for oct. The debt total is coming down nicely, and only 2 months away from heaping the debt fund at the hal!fax card. That will be a nice feeling. And still on target for being able to clear that card in dec. Then just 2 debts to go.

Am in the process of claiming some ppi back. One from a loan we had previous and also from our mortgage as was told we could only have our mortgage if we had the ppi. Naughty mortgage people! We paid it for just over 4 years so............ Any amount we may get back will be a bonus, and money towards the debts. Wish me luck.

Meal plan and shopping list done for next week. Weather still wintry so have meals such as beef and leek cobbler and toad in the hole with mash and gravy on there. Proper comfort food. Going to have look later for some more traybake ideas the kids could have in their boxes. The last lot havent gone so fast so think they are getting bored of the same things. May try some blondie brownies with rasberrys.....................will have to stop myself from eating them!!

  • Have got my bake on today. Have made a tea loaf, double choc chip muffins, custard and white choc biscuits, raspberry and white choc blondies and will be doing jam tarts after tea. Yum yum. I know the school says no chocolate but there is very little actual chocolate in the muffins. And surely homemade is better for them??! Hopefully that lot should last them all week.

Went over the budget for groceries this week, but needed washing powder and toilet roll.
Will need to stock up my baking cupboard next week!

Have started getting the Xmas lists together and need to start ordering it all. Trouble is the kids keep seeing stuff on tv that they suddenly want.

Both boys doing really well in their swimming lessons, ds1 swimming lengths of the big pool now and ds2 on the verge of being able to swim with no floats. And that's just in 6 weeks! Ds1 also doing really well with his rugby, can actually see him getting better each week.
Don't mind paying out for extra activities when you can see them improving and enjoying it.

Well one more week at work and all in the rags household is off for half term week. Can't wait!!!!

  • Have had a lovely half term, plenty of time spent together and not many pennies spent. :A

Ds2 is now swimming on his own and ds1 got player of the match in rugby last week!! Proud mummy :D

My wage has been paid so started transferring about. Food fund and debt fund up to date, will wait till the loan comes out end of this week to transfer the rest.

Work wise I am now a manager in training, no pay rise for it but I'm ok with that as feel like a new starter!! There is so much more to running a home than I thought!! Played about with budgets and spreadsheets yesterday, felt at home doing that.:rotfl:

Not much else to report, still baking goodies for the boys lunchboxes. Quite like spending a day in the kitchen baking with my radio on. It's the only time I get to myself!!!!!

  • Not much to report really.

The loan has come out, only £100 away from being under £21k (im not including the money i have in the debt fund yet) Feels like i should have got a lot further, and in reality have paid a lot more to the debts than has come off thanks to the loans interest. But less debt is less debt. And we are still making progress and living at the same time!

Need to be doing my meal plan for next week, loving a!di's chicken kievs, and they are under £2 for 4!!! very yummy. Freezer is at bare minimum now, so may have to get the hubby to agree to do a freezer shop at some point. May just get meat, veggies, fish and meal bits rather than processed stuff.

Also need to find more yummy recipes to bake for the kids boxes. Need to also get a fairy cake tin, tried to do jam tarts in the muffin tins i have, but they so didnt work. Kids liked the pastry discs covered in jam though!:rotfl: May do mini quiches in them if i get one..................

  • Well, I have broken my ultimate rule regarding xmas..............I have bought my first pressies before my birthday
But there is a valid reason, its photos of the grand kids for both sets of parents and sis in law has one of her kids, and I had a code for 50% off, but only for this weekend, so I got them. :D £60 worth of presents for £30 :D And thats 4 lots of presents sorted and ticked off!! The photos look ace, even if i do say so myself. We printed out on paper we love you and which ever grand parent/mummy the photo was for for the kids to hold up so they are personlised!

Will be sorting the kids's out this week, but not sure i will get much in the way of deals. Will look on the arg0s site later as they are having a 3 for 2 offer on. Might be good for stocking fillers.

Hubby has done an extra day today so thats an extra £80. Will have to think what we are gonna do with it, debt fund? house fund? our birthday/anniversary weekend away?? He is gonna see about maybe getting a few more extra days in, although really, legally he can only do an extra day every fortnight. But every little helps.
