  • I'm back!!!!

Had a lovely time away and we did really well money wise. We took all the food with us and drinks. When we went to the club in the evening we were naughty and took the kids drinks bottles, small bottle of vodka and a tinny in with us. Saved us loads as a round of drinks costs £4 instead of £12.
The cattery was also £7 cheaper than I had added up so money saved there too! Ds1 is in need of some new clothes so using the money left in the holiday fund to kit him out. Sick of seeing him in clothes that are too small and jeans full of holes.

Shopping wise we were under our £60 budget this week. Thinking of just using cash for shopping and leaving the cards at home. That way we can't go over budget. Might be the only way to reign in the grocery spends.

Weather has turned wet up here this weekend, so using my mums dryer to get my mountains of washing dried. Load 3 in the washing machine as I type. Luckily my mums dryer has the ready to wear option on her dryer so I don't need to iron it all. Phew!

Need to do all my transferring in the accounts.

What have you all been up to???

  • Sounds as though you had a great time rags and well done on sneaking in the drinks very :money:.
  • Hello!!

Well the loan and hal1fax cc have been paid so far, b4claycard comes out in the next day or so and that's them all paid for this month.

Had a few spends I hadn't accounted for, school dinners was one (only have them one day a week as a treat) ds1 then brought a letter home for school trip, £19!, and ds2 needed a new book bag and bits and pieces like waterproof pants for when they do nature work once a week in the woods. Oh well, keep on keeping on.

Had some free food this week, someone at work gave me some potatoes and onions from their friends allotment, then another has various fruits growing in their garden so got loads of apples, plums and blackberries!! Have made some berry muffins for kids lunch boxes, need to find something to do with the apples other than apple sauce. I have two carry bags full of apples!!

Not sleeping very well at the min, spending at least 2-3 hours awake in the middle of the night. Am shattered. No problems going to sleep, just keeping asleep. Prob just have too much going on with boys school stuff, money etc.
fingers crossed for tonight or I think my brain will stop functioning!! Will make for an interesting day at work tomorrow!!!!

  • The weather has turned up here, wet and windy all day everyday. This has resulted in me getting a stinking cold!! Not impressed.

All payments to the debts have now gone out for the month. Still adding the pennies to the debt fund to round the current account down to just pounds. I'm still surprised how quickly this adds up.

Have done a meal plan this week and came in just over budget with the food shop. We did get quite a few yellow sticker stuff for the freezer though.
Had toad in the hole for tea last night and the hubby made too much mixture. Normally it would have got thrown away but I put my frugal head on and made yorkie puds which are now sitting nicely in my freezer ready for when I feel like an impromptu roast (happens a lot in this weather, it's my ultimate comfort food). How times have changed! :rotfl::A
(Also doing baking same time as making tea so oven on for less time and kids have yummy bits for their lunch boxes!)

On the whole, we are feeling positive at the moment, things are moving slowly but definitely in the right direction!
Next month I will be under £22k too!

  • 80p to the debt fund today.

Still full of cold, but last night whilst I made tea I also made a shepherds pie for tonight and fish cakes for tomorrow's tea. That should give me some breathing space at least.

Ds1 has asked for some raisin muffins for his box so will put a tray in tonight with the shepherds pie.

Today for me will consist of drinking plenty of water and resting to get rid of this horrid horrid bug.
