Stop the ride, i want to get off AGAIN!!

I have been on this site, on and off for the last 4 years, and still my total debt remains about the same despite efforts to pay it off.:(

This year was written off as got married :Dand have been saving up to decorate the downstairs of the house as was in dire need.

So, here i am, back for the final time as I will get rid of this debt, start to see some of mine and the hubbies hard earned cash and make sure that the kids can have some dreams come true!

My debt looks like this:
  • MBNA: £1421.13 5.9% life of balance.
  • TESCO: £592.00 0% till june 2013.
  • BARCLAYCARD: £5685.99 0% till aug 2014
  • STUDIO: £126.25
  • HALIFAX: £18,551.06
TOTAL: £26,336.43 :o:o:o

So my plan: to repay the minimums and concentrate on one debt at a time but will put the money away into a debt free fund so can pay big chunks off, but have it available should i need to use it preventing me from hitting the overdraft wall or using more credit as i have done before. This way seemed to work when i saved for the wedding. The first to go will be studio, then the tesco card as runs out in june. The halifax will be last as will need a good run up to that beast.

I will also be doing a budget every month so i know how much i can put away each month. This will be easier as i am now going to be salaried so will know my wage each month. :) Me and the hubby have been doing the shopping list and trying to stick to it (seem to get derailed by the yellow sticker section though :o) and to try and use up food in the house/freezer etc.
I will try and do baking for the boys godies and will be checking out approved f00d for other bits and bobs.

Right, lets get to it!!!!!

  • Not slept well last night, had figures and debts running through my head.
Have done my budget for jan, hoping to be able to put £250 to the debt fund and £100 to the house fund.
Need to ring sky today as my direct debit seems to be going up every month for no reason......... Gonna see how much others charge and see if requesting to leave will bring it down a bit.
Need to brave the shops today for the weekly shop. This time of year amazes me, the amount of food that people shoehorn into their trolleys coz it's Xmas/new year is unreal!!!! Wonder how much gets thrown away.................

Forecast up here is rain, rain and more rain. :( Cant wait for spring, can start to get some nice days to get the washing out on the line. Nothing beats that smell!

Right, time for a cuppa whilst the kids are quiet.

  • Hello. Thanks for posting!

Well, i think i have finally (after 4 years) turned a corner. My dryer has decided to pack up and not work without tripping my electric off. Me and the hubbys first thought was check online, find a decent one that isnt too expensive and bung it on the credit card. Found one, really wanted it, but didnt get it. Instead we sat there and cut up said credit card!!!!!:D:T 2013 is the year where we make do and SAVE for stuff we want/need!
(We have been very mse and taken the washing up to my mums to use her dryer lol!)

Went to the shops for our weekly food shop. Place was almost empty...........everyone must still be living off the hoards they bought last week. We did a shopping list, an stuck to it!!!!! bought only sausage rolls from the yellow sticker bit and had them for tea with chips, peas and gravy for a nice, simple yummy meal. Only spent £54ish so under my budget i have set. Gonna work through the freezer this week to empty it a bit so will be having some odd meals this week.

Have put 16 things up for sale i have lying around. So far made £20 if people come and pick them up.

    Every little helps!!

  • Happy new year everyone!!!!!!!!!!

I have put in all my debts and stuff into a free debt management app that has a snowball thing included. It says I should be debt free by 2016. 3 years of hard slog ahead but at least there may be an end to it.
For once I am really excited by getting these debts busted, and determined!!

We are having a lazy day today. Quilts are down on the sofas and have a run of movies to watch... Lovely family day:D

I put all my spending money into a different account. I dont know if that will work for you....so when its gone its gone!!! and eveything else goes to paying bills and debt busting. It seems a very simole method that works. No more juggling money just take out at the beginning of month all you want to spend for that month and dont go over!
  • We used to do the same with spends, up until something happened with the hubbies pin and his card didn't work. It's been something we have talked about this week so gonna ring the bank on Monday and get new pins for us both.

Have walked into town this morning, fruit, veg and salad got off the market, been to a few cheap shops for my shampoo and juice and lunch box bits. Don't know about anyone else but cheapy cordial gives me a sore throat and I can't get used to the double strength ones! Just the rest to get now from ald! but need to do a meal plan for the week.

Mortgage has gone out now and the loan will come out on Monday. Both me and the hubby has a payday next week so can pay off a bit more debt.

It was my works Xmas ( in jan?!) do last night, free food, booze and taxi home! Had a really good night and have to say I am lucky to have such a great bunch of work mates! Made the most of my last night out for a while :rotfl:
