I rarely go to these places but we was in a new town shopping and the pubs wouldnt allow children in. So we decided too go to McDonald's as we walked past it.
you say your child escaped with minor cuts and bruises?? , did you take pictures of the caved in celieng , how bad was it , was it one tile that fell or worse, how many other people were hit etc..
i think your best bit is to work out exactly what it is you want for this situation to be resolved .,

No, the manager was too busy. Never done nothing filled in accident form and wrote down the franchise owner name and the store telephone number and just said "hope she's alright"
as i say you need to work out what it is you want to resolve the situation .. a refund and a free mcflurry are pretty good start, but is it that your after an apology ? what would you like the manager to have done?
did you feel you wanted compensation .. don't worry if thats what you want?

The child is fine, and the OP stressing out will not help the child in any way.
The child was not "fine". The child suffered from shock and cuts in an accident that could and should have been avoided. In my book that does not equal fine. I wonder how you would deal with your child being hurt in those circumstances and whether you would be so quick to brush it off as little or nothing. Although I suspect you are not a parent yourself (if you are then your attitude surprises me) as most parents would be traumatised by witnessing something like happening to their child, even if the child suffers minor injuries.
OP, take absolutely no notice of the posters insinuating you are over reacting or after compensation. I think any caring parent would react the same as you. But please do contact your local council health and safety as I said earlier. I think they will take it very seriously, unlike some on here!0 -

Any photos?0 -
op - what kind of shock were you treated for at the hospital? anaphylactic shock? septic? cardiogenic?
there is a lot of dramatic imagery being banded about in here. i know it's not nice having something hit your chillen on their bill & ted, but unless you needed the help of cuban search & rescue teams, especially flown in from havana to help your daughter escape the rubble and the chaos, cheeseburger in hand, i don't think i'm wrong in saying that the roof 'caving in' is a bit over the top.
never the less, why won't somebody think of the children?helpful tips
it's spelt d-e-f-i-n-i-t-e-l-y
there - 'in or at that place'
their - 'owned by them'
they're - 'they are'
it's bought not brought (i just bought my chicken a suit from that new shop for £6.34)0 -
The OP says that the doctor said the child was lucky to escape from cuts and shock, so no injuries then ?0

Well yes, exactly. A few of these lightweight ceiling tiles falling down would be nothing tbh, just a bit of a surprise. If it had been a thick structural ceiling on the other hand it's unlikely the McDonalds would have been able to remain open after the event, let alone hand out free McFlurries.Val.0 -

I did not read it like that, I read the child had cuts and shock.
But either way, the OP is distressed and so was her child. A little compassion and sympathy from you would not be a lot to ask surely?0 -

I imagine the kind of shock any normal loving parent would have if their child was involved in an incident such as this. Obviously when sympathy was being handed out they gave you an extra dose of sarcasm instead!0 -
With the knowledge that the cealing had been deemed unsafe earlier that day, this accident should have been prevented.
Even if it was only lightweight materials falling on the toddler, it was enough to warrent a trip to the doctor.0
