    Genuinely glad she's ok.

But look on the bright side - she might be too afraid to ever set foot in another McDonalds, and this would be no bad thing! ;-)

Chill out, something bad could have happened but it did not. If you are stressing out about this your daughter will pick up on it, and she will become anxious too - that does not help anyone.[/

What? You don't think a ceiling falling in on a child to be "something bad". I can totally understand, as a parent myself, how something like that happening to your child would shake you up. The OP's child WAS hurt. OK it could have been worse but it is completely unacceptable that it happened at all or that her child was cut or bruised/shocked.

I would be contacting your local Council health and safety department and getting them to pay a visit, at the very least to make sure it is made safe so that no one else is injured.

The child is fine, and the OP stressing out will not help the child in any way.
  • To be totally honest, if that was me and one of my children and the manager had been as dismissive of it as that one was, and had slipped up that the ceiling was dangerous and they still saw fit to see pound signs over safety I would be after every penny I could get. Thats the only thing that ever changes attitudes in that sort of environment, not letters asking where the signs were, they need to learn that it will cost them if they are negligent and have such obvious disregard for their customers. Thats when they will change things.

Sue 'em. you have lots of x-rays of the child's head and the full medical notes written up in A&E. Don't you?
.................:)....I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)
  • I think you should contact local Health & Safety, assuming your original description of what happened is accurate. Busy or not, that should certainly not have happened.

Should be easy enough to locate the number/email - your Local Authority I think (well, it is where I live). The store manager can explain to them about workmen, no sign etc.

Excuse me? Do you know my child? No. It's quite horrific having a ceiling cave in in you let alone for a 17 month old child. How terrifying it was for her!

Yes post is 100% accurate and genuine.

  • I would be raging if I was you!! Accidents happen, and if it was just a case of the ceiling coming down without warning then I'd be upset but probably move on. But if I found out that they knew that the roof was unstable and hadn't closed off that area I would be furious.

As another poster said, you should contact the councils h&s dept and see what they have to say about it.

I hope your wee ones ok soon!

    Xx

Where did she say her child was fine- unless I miss read it, the wee girl had cuts and a trip to the hospital. That's bad enough for any age, but for a little child that's hellish!!
