suziq hi! In terms of flabby tummy, it's actually not bad, I'm pleasantly surprised, I don't have that section overhang that some people end up with, the only 'mum tum' bit that I have it a little pouch of loose skin either side of my belly button, but it's not something that bothers me - my tummy is mostly because I'm overweight, not because I had a baby iyswim. I have a LOT of stretchmarks, spread from hip to hip all across my belly - I have more stretchmarks than I have normal skin unfortunately. I think I'm just one of those people though, as I got bad stretchmarks during puberty, despite being VERY slim back then! The stretchmarks have faded with time (and control pants - pressure is great for fading them), they don't massively bother me either as they have faded to white and I'm pasty pale so they just blend in.

What bothers me is my anger about what happened. As far as I'm concerned, my c section and the following health consequences for both me and my baby were unnecessary and were caused by lazy, incompentent midwives who didn't give a !!!!!! about doing their jobs properly. We had to stay in hospital 10 days after the birth as baby had meningitis, the standard of care we received was shocking, and I made a formal complaint after our discharge.

I am furious about my birth experience. I feel cheated about what happened. I suffered unecessary pain and complications and prolonged ill health due to the negligence of the hospital staff. I am unable to touch my scar and will not allow my partner to touch it either, even typing that sentence has made me feel physically sick.

It is, and always will be, a permanent reminder of something that they stole from me - a positive labour experience, a vag!nal birth, immediate skin to skin, the first breastfeed, the early bonding moments with my son. I can never have those back.

Sorry this has turned in to a long post that has nothing to do with SW!

As for the first 12.5lb, I do a mixture of EE and Green which seems to work for me (probably 4 EE 3 Green a week).

I have tried to walk more - park in the space *furthest* from the supermarket door, not the closest...that sort of thing.

But generally...I've stuck to plan, I stay to group, I have my 3rd superfree...and I have 14-15 syns every day.

    Turtlemoose - I know your problem is about the c-section & violation part of the birth but this is a photographer friend of mine who does amazing things & is also a trained Samaritan. SuziQ - you might also relate to some of this re your Mummy war wounds! Her website makes for interesting reading even if you don't go on to do the body beautiful course;

What do you do when you're not hungry?

Take today, I've had a rough couple of nights, very little sleep, generally feeling like poo. I had my 2 benefit bars (heb) at around 9am. Have eaten nothing else all day, have had 2 coffees though. It is now 1:30pm and I just am not hungry at all. I know from experience that if I don't eat anything now, I am unlikely to feel hungry later either. I feel like I should eat something because sw isn't about skipping meals/counting calories etc and I want my body to be used to regular, balanced food. However it seems wrong to me to eat for the sake of it iyswim.

    Thoughts?

I would just cut up an apple or other fruit & try & pick at it, or even a piece of toast - not going to be disasterous if that's all you eat but as you say, you won't be hungry later if you don't try now.

WI for me this morning - a gain of 1lb - quite happy with that as have been on holiday for 10 days.

Need to lose 4lb to get back to top end of target.

Turtlemoose, I am sosorry that what should have been such a special experience was spoiled for you. My third birth was a nightmare. I swear the Midwife was a nutcase - she was telling us all about her own births and kids, but when one of the other midwives came to check on me whilst the other was on break, she told me the woman had no kids, had never even had a boyfriend! She wouldn't listen to me when I said I thought the head wasn't descending and was stuck, even though she knew I was an experienced midwife myself.

To cut an extremely long story short, I ended up with a traumatic high forceps delivery, a huge episiotomy why has left me with pelvic floor issues plus my baby had awful huge capput succedaneum, black eyes and looked like he had gone ten rounds with Mike Tyson!

He now has special needs and I have no idea whether the birth was a complicating factor, because although he has been diagnosed with Autism they weren't really sure of a diagnosis and gave him that one to get him the help he needed. If my third birth had been my first, he would have been an only child!

Luckily for me, although both my first two children were premature, the care was amazing . I really hope that you have the opportunity one day to experience how it SHOULD be done! I was a midwife back in the 80's and it was a very different situation back then- I believe we really took pride in our work and tried to ensure that every family had the very best experience they could under whatever circumstances occurred ( birth is a tricky business and many things can and do go wrong despite sometimes the best of care.)
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

WI today and 2lb loss. Haven't read back but feel like a bit of a blow out on a Thursday after WI helps keep me on track! I have what I want on a Thurs so can avoid rubbish in the week by knowing this. Then stick to plan with up to 70syns the rest of the week.
