Gosh Blodwen have we got the same consultant?! I hate that sort of patronising attitude. Sometimes you stick to plan and it doesn't work, they should understand this and be supportive without being unbelieving. Go with your own intuition, you know what you have to do and it sounds like you are doing fantastic anyway. Good luck!
Huge sympathy and empathy Blodwen. I think too many consultants have a 'one track mind' and just don't think!! I believe it's quite common for exercise to have that sort of effect plus I've found from experience that weightloss isn't always a weekly, linear thing. I got to target in a lot of fortnightly drops. I'm a great believer in that if you stick to plan then it'll show eventually (similarly it works the other way:(). There are people who seem to have specific problems like with certain medication but, in the main, if you stay on plan you'll lose....eventually!
Welcome maddywaddy. We do a lot of analysing on here so you'll feel at home. SW doesn't have to expensive. It's a good time to buy f&v at this time of year and Aldi is my friend!0 -
Well done beanielou on the weight loss and for being on target.
I am still plodding along with my SW diet. Not a member anymore but I still have some magazines and books. I was an online member as my nearest group is around 20 miles away but I didn't feel I was getting the support I needed. It is much better on here,
No WI for me for 2 weeks now as my scales have decided to play games and change weight randomly. I lost 7 lbs in one dayI put a new battery in and that was when it all went wrong.
So, I am going to find my tape measure and measure myself and try to guage my weight loss that way.
I also have a wierd virus ATM which is making me not want to eat. In two days I have had porridge twice (made with water) and nothing elseWe went out for lunch and I made a healthy choice but had to leave it

Yay! First weigh in & 6 lbs gone forever!!! Only 1 off a stone I never want to see again & 1lb off my 1/2 stone award. Really chuffed - and my lo was as good as gold at class too
MaddyWaddy - I have a 20month old & I know what you mean but getting organised & having a few emergency tins in the cupboard are a godsend - Asda do 'Great Stuff' canned meals suitable for toddlers & they are very useful though home made stuff is better! It's definately harder doing it with lo round my ankles but no choice in the matter these days.

I used to be really organised with meal planning and money before lo came along and as things are a bit easier with money we are having more luxury things and the not so good things - take outs, greggs, chocolate etc etc.
I am currently sat down trying to meal planning sw style but within a budget ... I have already spent over my budget this month (this doesn't include the take aways / meals out) and I still have 2 weeks to go
I am definately going to throw a few non meat meals in there - egg, chips and beans sounds yummy to me and completely syn freeSW member: 09/01/2014

Thanks both - I'm determined to keep going as it's worked for me so far. I feel great for exercising too so if it shows a gain but my clothes get looser then that's the important thing. I'm doing her stupid SAS log even though I doubt they'll show anything (I'm struggling to find anything in it that might suggest I'm sabotaging) but if I'm doing what is asked she can't complain :rotfl:poohbear59 wrote: »So, I am going to find my tape measure and measure myself and try to guage my weight loss that way.

I do think measurements are the way to go sometimes, especially if the scales aren't moving or you can't WI for any reason. Hope you feel better soon (and importantly, can eat!)2011: [STRIKE]Houses[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]weddings[/STRIKE], [STRIKE]cats[/STRIKE]

Wow, well done Skint_Catt that's a fantastic result! I bet you have a real sense of achievement
.
MaddyWaddy I've found with SW I pretty much cook from scratch. It doesn't have to be time consuming. Stir Fries with the free straight to wok noodles take minutes. You are right, Egg, Chips and Beans is syn free but just remember to eat your 1/3rd superfree with every meal so have some veg or salad too or some fruit. You should actually find your food bill would be less than if you were buying takeouts and convenience foods. Most of us at our meeting shop at Aldi as fruit and veg are cheap - as is poultry, meat, fish etc.
One lady who is a chef prefers to buy big bags of frozen veg like mushrooms and chopped onions, frozen berry mix etc from Iceland and Farmfoods, for convenience and also so nothing gets wasted. I don"t always have time to cook but I make sure I make extra when I'm cooking a meal and freeze a portion. Or I'll make a huge soup which will last a few days. The OldStyle board is invaluable for advice as to how to make a budget last and how to batch cook/use up leftovers.
And you can still have the occasional takeaway! Plain boiled rice is free and some dishes are lower syn than you might think. Just stay away from the Naan bread lol.0 -
Haha Blodwen you hate the SAS Log as much as me!
I loved smugly handing mine over last week though. It will feel great when you get it back and there is nothing she could fault.

I found the first month or so that I was doing SW I was spending a clean fortune every week - but its totally calmed down now that I have all my storecupboard basics stocked up upon. I still do have to call into Tesco or Asda at least twice a week but its down to a manageable amount for me now. I probably spend the most money on salad veg & yogurts!0
