I can remember buying a swiss roll on the way home from school and eating it all before I got home, or buying my mum a box of chocs and eating them all in my room then having to buy them again. How awful. I was bullied for my weight and my mum and dad didn't deal with my weight issues very well (for example my brother was allowed biscuits and I wasn't) although I do believe they were trying to do their best, they just didn't do it very well and actually made it worse.
I absolutely and utterly seek solace from food. I smoked too for 20 years and that helped because I just used to smoke rather than eat but I gave up 18 months ago :T:T:T
I just wish I could have a normal relationship with food!

you have done really well with the smoking though so you can do it
what about drinking a low calorie no added sugar drink when you get cravings for food , i think this helps me because i get the sweet taste but its free and i still can lose wieght
i hope i havent offended you in anyway but i just want to wish you the best

do you get any counselling? its just it seems to me and i dont want to seem funny that your issue with food stems from your youth and that without help even with slimming world its only going to be short term thing

Hi Rob - please don't feel you have offended me at all, in fact, I gain a lot from others insight and advice and I really really appreciate it. I have had counselling in the past for my food and bullying issues and thought I had 'cracked it' but it seems not so. I know I can do it when I put my mind to it, I lost 5 stones for my wedding in 2009 (took me 2 years) - and I've given up the most addictive drug in the world which is the hardest thing I've ever done (well apart from this!) so I know I can achieve things when I want to. I need to channel my need for comfort into something more constructive - any ideas???
Thanks for the encouragment though, means a lot and of course yes, the only way is down!!! LOLOLOL :rotfl:

Hi guys, I just started slimming world on Monday,
wondered if anyone can help with a query- I have at home some Warburtons spiced fruit bread- its gluten and wheat free only 70 cals per slice. I was wondering if i could count it as my HEB on Extraeasy or if i would have to syn it as its not on the list?
Also if i have to syn it- how many syns per slice?Paying it all off in 2017:

I know it's 4 syns a slice but I don't think its a HEB. The only Warburtons that's a HEB is the Seed Sensations Wholemeal.0 -
rainbowfairydust wrote: »Thanks MM..dont give up even though you had a blow out. The hardest thing when loosing weight is learning how to stop bingeing. I thought i had it under (some sort of loose) control but obviously not because i have had several months of just scoffing.
and it has landed me at being the heaviest i have ever been.
I often wonder to myself about how i managed to quit smoking with relative ease (smoker for 10 years + on 20 a day) and yet i still cant recognise what triggers the eating (or i can but i am so consumed i cant control it) ,BUT smoking is really not the same as eating because you HAVE TO eat to live. You can manage without cigarettes.
I wish i could do something to make things easier for you (and everyone else who has/is having the same problems). I dont know why i find comfort in food.. I had a good upbringing and my parents would do anything for their kids, and i was a normal weight until my early 20's and then i ballooned. Its been up & down since.
I find myself looking for some psychological trigger that may have been the cause of the comfort eating but there is nothing that shouts at me.
sorry if thats a bit deep ^^^:o
RFD - couldn't have said it better myself!Newyorkdreams wrote: »Hi MM - hope you are feeling better today? This thread is superfast so forgive me if you have already posted! Thanks for letting me know about the technica (sorry for spelling!) - it sounds nice. And you live in Israel? I have always wanted to visit Israel.

NYD - I see you're from Scotland - I'm originally from Scotland! Lived over here for coming up 25 years!!!
Well feeling a bit better today. Did zumba last night and really worked my !!! off! I still don't think the binge is "out" of me though and could easily have another one. I'm not sure if it's hormonal because I'm so menopausal that I have no idea when my hormones are up or running level. They're obviously up at the moment because this is so much like the way I used to be when I was premenstrual.
I still managed to down 2 litres of water yesterday so really hoping that the damage won't be too great.
I desperately need a break from everything at the moment so glad my trip to the UK is coming up. Not sure if it'll be much of a rest as I'll still have to work even from afar and visiting family is nice but a lot of hard work.
Looking forward to the weekend and I think part of my problem this week is that I haven't slept particularly well so hopefully get a chance to catch up on Saturday.Mediterranean Mum
hoping to lose 50lb by February 2013! 2st lost so far :j0
