had an exercise failure today because of my IBS playing up :( still sore :(

was suggested I looked into fibromyalgia. I really wish I hadn't :( Will just revert to most Dr's view instead that losing weight WILL help instead.

    menu:
    B - yog
L - salad (lettuce, cue, toms, peppers, celery & ff dressing), 2 x fried egg (used 1 cal spray thing) & 2 slices of beef. Bowl fruit salad (pineapple, apple, pear, grapes, plums) & ff nat yog
T - smoked haddock & veggies (carrots, leeks, peppers, mushrooms) in nat ff yog with sw wedges.
    S - hot choc (2)

hubby has agreed (at least for now) that we don't buy bread anymore. We both love it, but usually waste half the loaf & it often leaves me REALLY bloated after :(

How did you cook the veg? It looks interesting. I'm getting bored with stir fry or plain.

I started off sorta frying it with that 1 cal stuff but then I decided that it would be too chrunchy so added in a little water to soften the veggies. When they were cooked I just stirred in some nat ff yog then added in the (cooked) fish & gave a good stir. I liked it. My friend said it needed more seasoning, but he tends to use a lot of garlic when he cooks (I think) & salt. I don't tend to cook with salt - prefer using herbs and spices. Because I had done the wedges and they had herbs and spices on them I didn't want to have the fish & veggies fighting the wedges ref seasoning (if you follow ... as I am waffling). If I'd done plain rice I would have seasoned the fish & veggies :) but then again I didn't want to drown out the flavour of the smoked haddock either :rotfl:

    Sweet potato.
    Never cooked it before.

I chop mine into small cubes together with a cubed aubergine, quartered mushrooms and quartered red onions - mix them all together and season then put on a baking sheet and spray with frylight and roast for about 40 mins - delicious cold on a salad

MM about 8 years ago one of my close friends had weight loss surgery. I am not sure how many different types there are; my friend had a gastric band fitted. She paid for it privately and went down to London for the operation. She stayed overnight and then I met her at the airport the next evening. She was very wobbly and I was really concerned about her. It was about an hour and a half drive to her house and we had to stop at the services as she needed the toilet urgently and I think that persisted for sometime for her. She had to carefully follow a plan, but like your friend steadily lost weight. Eventually she looked fabulous. She kept it off for 3/4 years then for some reason it all began to pile on again and she was back to the dieting cycle. I don't know how typical this experience is though.

Sounds like a lot of the experiences I personally know about but again these are all people who, in my opinion, haven't made serious dieting attempts. They are usually on serious medication and doing it for health reasons to get them off the meds but they don't exercise or learn how to eat in the correct way. It's really quite tragic how it's not monitored better.

Wasnt there a documentary on channel 4 or one of the 'freeview' channels a couple of months ago similar which concentrated on various methods used to lose weight. One bloke was hospitalised for his own well being and to be put on a strict 3 meal a day diet where the main meals were chicken, rice/pots and veg but he were buying things on the snack trolley that came round and he couldnt see why he werent losing weight. Another lady would eat brilliantly all week but when it came to friday night she would pop into the supermarket buy loads of prepacked sandwiches, cream cakes, crisps and chocolate etc and lock her self in her bedroom for the weekend where she had her pc and mini fridge so became a recluse bar talking/playing on internet games. She was told that she needed to lose xxx lbs on her own before they would look at her again for weight loss help and looking at food diaries could see during the week she had no issues but the loneliness of being on her own was destroying her progresses.
The third lady was young woman around late teens early 20's who had gastric surgery was seriously ill afterwards to the point she was violently sick and had diarohea in the first couple of weeks with the hospital being concerned she was going to dehydrate because her reaction was so severe and her weight fell off. After monitoring her progress over a few months it showed how she had learnt to cheat the surgery and was binging on cheeseburgers etc and telling the hospital the band/surgery had failed.

Its all quite disheartening and i believe more should be done to deal with the emotional and mental side of weight loss as this programme shows it is ok to walk in to a GP surgery and say i want to lose weight and have the options shown to you but unless there is there is genuine support behind the offerings it will fail. Sometimes it needs more than just will power.

I remember seeing a similar document over here - and that appears to be what my friend is doing which is one of the reasons I feel so sick - she's losing weight whilst eating rubbish and here I am eating lots of healthy protein and veg and nothing moving. I know she will probably put it all back on again.

One thing to be said for the system over here is that there is a lot of psychological counselling before any surgery takes place but obviously a lot of people know how to cheat the system and give the answers that they know the psychologists are looking for.

I have another friend who's been waiting to have it done and I was totally horrified when she told me that it had been postponed because someone died on the table. So I suggested that she try SW with me (she's never dieted so it should fall off her) and she said "why should I - I'll have the op and it'll drop off me and I won't have to do anything" - unfortunately this seems to be the attitude of so many.

Frogga, I would suggest having a look at the site https://www.myfitnesspal.com and just log in your calories for a couple of days.

I agree that having lost a lot of weight your calorie intake now needs to be a lot less.

It's really made me look at my food in a different way - just because it's "free" doesn't mean that it's not going to have an effect on your body.

It's made me think a bit more about the choices I'm making for my meals every day. I'm still following the principles of SW but the quantities are different. It's WI for me tomorrow but I had a quick peep this morning and I'm down almost 3lb. Hopefully by tomorrow morning it will be the full 3lb!!!
