I have been following this site for several months and feel you are the right people to help me, I am fine with sw meals but really struggle with snacks. I find I eat tons of fruit which I know is free but I am looking at what may be slowing my weight loss and can only put it down to this. Any suggestions for alternatives

I have had my first 'negative issue' with the SW diet today. After the discusssion about the Turkish delight Mullerlight, I duly bought 10 mullerlights on the £3 offer. Although I liked them, I have to admit to much preferring Greek yoghurt, especially the Total fat free one. I have had the last muller tonight and had a wee read of the pot and was not pleased to find it contains aspartame this can cause a lot of unpleasant effects (see: http://www.relfe.com/aspartame_92.html) one of which is weight gain! Mullers now off my shopping list!

You're right prudent, people have different views about aspartame but if you don't want it then steer clear of Mullers. I agree that Total 0% is ace although expensive. I'm not even a yogurt lover but I enjoy that as a cream substitute. I suppose on the sweetener debate it depends on both your view of them in general and how much of a sweet tooth you have. I bought a tub of Canderel (not sure of its ingredients) and it's still going strong a year or more later as I rarely sweeten anything.

Super ideas beanie. I eat fruit as a snack sometimes but mixed with other things so perhaps frozen berries with Total or an apple chopped into a bowl of FF cottage cheese. As we've discussed recently all cold meats but the chicken tikka bits are a favourite of mine. Then there's beetroot or cornichons straight from the jar:o....

Welcome smilersgran, you're in the right place.

I am sure this question has been asked before but ........ what do people thinkof Scanbran? Our group only had Oatbrans left so I tried them and they are most peculiar. I tried 2 with Quark and chives on and didn't enjoy them. I tried 2 with sliced banana and cinnamon and they were a bit more palatable.

I've never had Scanbran myself. I've been put off by those who likened them to chewing on cardboard;). People I know who buy them tend to crumble them into recipes or, like you, have something really strong tasting on them. I've heard LoLo cheese is quite good, maybe quark was a bit too bland. Apparently they're really good for fibre intake but I'll stick with the baked beans!

From time to time these old reports surface and cause people to worry. Why don't you read this (European Food Safety Authority and it IS very recent).

I am not a fan of Mullers - I probably have 2 a week and I do use them to make a mousse. There are certain flavours which I wouldn't eat at all.

Thanks for posting your menus monkee. They look ok but my first impression would be to say that what you're eating looks very repetitive. My consultant always advocates variety so maybe think about this when you're planning forward. Obviously no breakfast isn't a good idea. You have SFs in there but without knowing the salad quantities seems a lot of fruit over veg. I say this because we have been discussing recently how too much (sweet) fruit is a problem for some people.

That being said, if it's working for you then go for it!!!

    Keep posting.:)

The thing about the no breakfast is I do shift work, which often finishes at midnight & by the time I am home it is 00.30-01.00hrs & then I'm often not asleep until 2 or 3 am (sometimes even later if I'm having an insomanic night). So, anyway, you will often see supper on my menus rather than breakfast - cos I'm actually asleep at breakfast time :)

The menus are kinda repetative but at moment it is working & I'm sticking to it so that's a good thing I guess :)

Yeah I eat LOADS of fruit & veg. Tho strangely a DR recently told me to eat more to alleviate (possible) IBS pain, even tho he didn't bother to ask how much I ate in the first place ... just eat MORE.

I haven't really planned today because I'm trying to work with myfitnesspal as was suggested to me yesterday so still playing around with it to see what I can have that keeps me within my daily limits. I guess I'll get the hang of it but is a bit of a pfaff when I'm used to eating unlimited amounts of certain foods.
