    Hi all!
Joined SW last week, first weigh in this morning, 4.5lb loss so really pleased. Will try to keep up with you all and read your useful posts.

Do they just read out everyone's weight losses/gains at everyone else's class? That's all they did last week and this week with a quick 'have you done how you expected and what do you want to lose next week'. No tips or recipes etc which is what I expected.

    TIA
Hi and welcome. I joined SW last week too, although I've done it in the past. My group is the same, she goes around everyone saying how each person has done and they say a bit about it. The group is very big, so it can be quite boring. I'd like the leader to speak more with hints, tips and recipes. I find this thread really helpful - you'll get loads of support on here.

MedMum - I dont' have that book, if you could post, that would be fab :D

    Minestrone Soup
    free on green
    serves 4

    low cal cooking spray
    1 onion, finely chopped
    1 garlic clove, crushed
    2 carrots, chopped
    2 celery sticks, chopped
    400g can chopped tomatoes
    2pt vegetable stock
2oz dried spaghetti, broken into short lengths
    4oz frozen peas
    6oz green cabbage, chopped
    1 leek, chopped
    1 tsp dried basil
salt and freshly ground black pepper

    1. Spray a non-stick saucepan with low cal spray and cook the onion for about 5 mins until soft. Add the garlic, carrots and celery and continue cooking for 2-3 mins.

    2. Add the tomatoes, stock and spaghetti and bring to the boil. Reduce the heat and simmer for 20 mins.

    3. Stir in the frozen peas, cabbage, leek and basil and simmer for a further 20 mins, adding a little water if necessary. Season to taste before serving.

Macpep I didn't use the spaghetti but made some WM pasta and added it at the table to each bowl. I have to be careful of the carbs.

It's dead simple and certainly my family all love it.

Today hasn't gone as well as I hoped.

I started well but got rather side tracked.
Breakfast was porridge and banana and a touch of milk from my HEA
    Snacks: banana, apple, satsuma
Lunch was broccoli and stilton soup!! E slices wholemeal bread and a slice of lemon cake!!!
Dinner is pasta and bolognaise sauce with loads of veggies in it.
I have really overdone the syns.

I was out at a meeting today and I went for the soup instead of the pastries and butter loaded sandwiches. Then they had made me some wheat free lemon drizzle cake so I had to eat it..

    Tomorrow I will do better.

It would have been rude not to!;) Never mind poohbear, have a low syn day tomorrow and you'll feel better. I've got Bolognese filled with veg for supper too.

DH just gave me two biscuits with a cup of tea and I put them back!!:D I'm trying really hard to be low/free syn today. I've had two bowls of berries and I've defrosted a pack of tikka slices to snack on.

    Sadly gained a pound.:(

I have cycled about 25 miles the last few days so it is very unfair. I also get anoyed when people say "ah but it's muscle." How the heck can muscle develop in 3 days.

I was a bit disappointed too. it was more of a sales pitch for scran bran. As I find it hard enough to pay for the meetings and to restock with different kinds of ingredients without buying extra products there too. I think this forum is invaluable and people are so generous with sharing recipes and experience. I even find it helps to hear about people having weeks where they gain as I then enjoy hearing how they manage to bounce back.

Oh what a shame. That is a bit rubbish. I was speaking to a colleague who cycle to work this morning. He keeps very fit and healthy by doing it. I have been thinking about getting a bike for a while, but haven't been able to afford one yet. I did look at the cycle to work scheme when it was open last month. I couldn't actually cycle to work though as it is too far and wasn't sure if I could just use the bike for general use. I work in a special needs school and we have a workshop that repairs bikes. I know they also recycle (excuse the pun!) children's bikes, so I am thinking of asking them to look out for a bike for me.

Blodwin thanks for the help and advice. The portions probably simply were too small as I have eaten a bit more (but still on plan today) and feel much better. I hadn't noticed about the extra hebs on green. I am doing extra easy. OH is vegetarian, but has just started eating fish. I do quite a lot of vegetarian or fish dishes to fit in with him. I will need to read up on green more carefully as that might make life easier on some days.
