From what other users of this thread have said whom are online members that SW do send out all the books you need within a few days of registration.
If theres anything you need to know before they arrive ask away.

I haven't actually joined online but from reading the membership plans, it sounds like you only get books sent out if you join the Gold level. If so, they probably ask about delivery regardless of what option you join on, just in case it's ever required.

    And welcome!

  • I'm back from holiday and today was supposed to be the first day back on SW. However, having not been food shopping yet I've been eating carp so far today. Will pop to shop on way home from friends tonight to at least get some bits for work tomorrow, then do a proper shop tomorrow straight after work so I don't get home and flop on the sofa!

    Hello Shazz,

Welcome to our merry band :hello:

Can't help you with your question about the books I'm afraid as I didn't join a SW group or online - I just followed the plan using the SW magazine and the free booklets that were given away in the Daily Mirror.

I am sure you will get on fine but please ask away if you have any questions - there is nearly always someone on here that can help ;).

Welcome back psycho - hope you had a good time - where did you go?

sharm el sheikh for some sunshine and not much else... haven't done anything today though, my good intentions of food shopping and getting sorted have gone straight out the window :o

    Hi all!

Been reading this thread all week and joined on Monday, started on Wednesday. Day 3 today, so far my issues are:

I'm constantly cooking and washing up!! any ideas for meals that are one pot or super quick/microwaveable! Its good because I'm cooking everything from scratch but evenings are spent just cooking and cleaning now!!

I need some crunch!! like biscuity crunch! and tips for low syn biscuits?!

Best discovery so far...skinny cow extra light in an omlette is yummy!!

I went o a funeral yesterday and from the buffet i pick rice and had the beef stew type thing which had veg in, wasn't sure of the fat content of the meat or what was in the gravy so marked it down as 10 syns but no idea!!!

Hope I'm doing everthing right so far?!

Thanks all, think this thread will be great support!

    xx
  • I'm not feeling bad about the brownie as I don't eat biscuits, chocolate or crisps or anything. I can't really say that I eat anything as a treat or snack that isn't fruit on a day to day basis so if you can't have a brownie in a coffee shop once every two weeks then its not a livable plan! Being a Coeliac, I'm very limited as to what I can have in coffee shops (believe me, a brownie wouldn't have been my choice) so, as long as its not a regular thing, I'm not beating myself up about it. I'm only having five syns today so that should even it out anyway.

What I'm really pleased by is the fact that usually that would have led to a binge as I would have thought I'd blown things anyway but last night, as much as I wanted to break open a massive bag of crisps and eat them all I didn't. I had some chicken and then a mango instead. And the mango tasted better than that ruddy brownie!

I was wondering if anyone has a decent SW friendly Swiss Bircher recipe? I've got a busy week coming up so it would be good to prepare breakfast the night before and I have lots of fresh berries and apples to use up.

SW swiss bircher is 1 or 2 muller lights poured onto 35g of porridge oats and left in the fridge in a bowl large enough to swell up. Ready next morning.

Moomin there are plenty of stews and casseroles that are either slow cooker recipes or timings changed to be baked in the oven. Is there anything you wont eat so people can throw back some recipes at you? Have you been to the first comment on this thread and clicked on the recipe index.

  • Snipped the rest of your post, but I'm sure someone else has tips on faster food. I came here from the OS board originally, so am very used to cooking everything from scratch.

The new Nutrigrain breakfast biscuits are 2 for a HEB choice, or 2.5 syns each. Have a box to try this weekend (use HEB for porridge through the week) but reports here are that they're yummy.

Having a very quick look around the plainer (rich tea, etc) biscuits, they all seem to be around 2 syns per biscuit which isn't too bad. Just check the labels, it's 1 syn for every 20 calories. :)

Here are some two lower syn ones that I love though...
Party Rings - 1.5 syns each
    Mikado - 0.5 per stick
