    But :naughty:

I need to set some targets. I am halfway through my 12 week countdown. I have lost 12lbs. I need to lose a further 12lbs to achieve Club 10 target. I was born on the 12th. We have just booked DDs Birthday party for the 12th of a month. There are 12 months in a year and there are 12 signs of the Zodiac. We have 12 legs in our family ( 4 pairs of human legs and 4 for the dog). Our cars have 12 wheels between them (hmm, not counting spares though). I am having 12 king prawns tonight.

    Hmmmmmm
I know how you feel. For an hour hubby and i said shall we go out for lunch as i had not planned anything today, during that hour we weighed up all the pro's and con's for places we would normally go - not based around SW though. In the end i said ill just have an omlette :( But tonight we are going to the local Hungry Horse and i will not choose wisely. I will be back on plan tomorrow as i have just drawn up EE meals for sat-monday then will be on SE till weigh in and if that fails i will chop my legs off for next weigh in just to show a loss :rotfl:

  • good afternoon losers!!!!

well weigh in went rather nicely last night... 3.5lbs off :j now i just need to keep burning - i reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally want my 1/2 stone award next thursday.. and i think that if im sensible, it will be possible.

buffet lunch tomorrow, so i think i might just have to be careful... none of the desserts are even remotely within syns haha! pear and butterscotch gateau, tiramisu, apple tarts, etc lol i think even thinking about them puts weight on!:rotfl:

on the upside... im off today so some time to get serious body magic in. on that note... my first consultant said there was no point in going to the gym whilst on plan other than for toning up, as you would only lose an extra 1/2lb a month. this consultant says go to the gym because it MASSIVELY boosts weight loss.... does anyone here know whats more accurate? if its going to work, then yes ill join a gym, but if its not going to help much, then theres no point (in my opinion) spending X amount a month to not see much results
I'd rather try and fail, than not try and never know

On the wagon again I go.... royally fell off.... 4.5st (63lb) by June 2016.... LET'S DO THIS!!!!!!!:grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin::grin:

The exercise side of it is not pushed in my group but speaking with my gp last week he tried explaining it like this -
If you have a sedentary lifestyle and reduce calorie intake then you will see a weight loss, after a while your body will adapt so you will either have to reduce cals down again or increase your output.
I googled a calorie thing the other day where it works out how many calories you need as an individual per day to sustain weight, it is based on height, weight, age and lifestyle. So for me it said 1780cals per day. I suppose i could look into how many calories are in each meal i eat then work out calories burnt through exercise to see what the deficit is but i cant be faffed as i dont want to get obsessive about it all and end up scrutinizing everything i eat or do.

  • The first time I mentioned a concern about my weight to a GP, he said "it was simple to lose weight." He said " just stop putting so much in here" and pointed to his mouth.

The second time was after moving, and with a new GP. He looked me up and down and said " but you haven't got a problem, or are you hiding it all under there" pointing to my baggy jumper!

So I've never bothered to raise the subject with a GP since.

I think the response you get from a GP depends on how well you know them. My doctor has been the same one since birth and he will talk to me like a family member rather than a member of the public. Previously when needing medication he has said he wouldnt be comfortable prescribing something to me that he wouldnt give his own son and daughter. Yet if someone was to over hear the conversations we have had in the past im sure it would be misconstrued and he would have been out of a job, that said he also has his off days where he will tell it to you straight but its never been in an uncaring malicious way. It is all too easy for drs to put a blanket effect over weight loss and say it is as simple as cutting back on what you eat without investigating the mental attachments of comfort eating etc. I have had boughts of depression but these have been times when i have shunned food rather than turned to it.

I also know my weight gain came from what i were eating - celebrity chefs telling you everything must be cooked with butter or olive oil, James Martin the worst one on saturday morning kitchen unless is slathered in butter it wont get a look in on his show. So i were home cooking from scratch just not in an overly healthy way.

When i mentioned to my sons head of house that he were on slimming world and would need some support where school meals came into it she said but he isnt fat he is big boned - this was my son who at 15 was nearing 18 stone and wearing a 52"blazer with 42" trousers, think she needs glasses lol but even now he has lost some weight she is either blinkered or in denial as she still insists he doesnt need to lose it as theres nothing wrong with him.

    Well done, that's fab!

Re. exercise - I don't do much and the weeks that I did walk in during the summer I definitely saw bigger losses, so I think that (depending on what you do) it does boost weight loss. If I walked to and from work 3x a week it'd burn approx. 4000 cals, which should be >1lb fat, so it must do something. I have been reading a cycling forum for a while as well in preparation for commuting by bike and some people on there comment on how they have to eat more to maintain their weight, and they are doing maybe 100 miles a week, which isn't tons in the grand scheme of things. Anyway, enough rambling - personally I'm not keen on the gym but it does make a difference, maybe not as much alone but combined with dieting, definitely.

Re. doctors - I do find most 'experts' are very simplistic in their view of weight loss- even OH's PhD supervisor, who is a (naturally skinny) world renowned expert in obesity biochemistry, says it's calories in vs. calories out, and this is despite all the work their group does on leptin, ghrelin etc, and OH agreed with him because he'd never been on a diet to see otherwise. It drives me potty because, as I said to OH, it makes sense until you actually do it- I've spent many a year eating way fewer calories than I needed with little weight loss to show for it, so I think that unless someone has seen it for themselves they take that simple calculation as gospel. If anyone ever says 'it's easy, just eat less and move more, it's not rocket science' to me I'll show them an imaginative place where a scientist can put a rocket!

And on that note I'm getting wrapped up and starting off home- have a great weekend y'all! :)

.....Now dinner has had to be amended. Note to self, check syns value BEFORE shopping!

I WAS going to prepare one of my favourite salads: A big bowl of fusilli pasta mixed with king prawns, avocado, tomatoes, fresh coriander, and drizzled with olive oil.

BUT an avocado is 9.5 syns

A tablespoon of olive oil 6 syns

There will be no syns left for my chilled chardonnay :(

So, I'm going to cut out the avocado and olive oil, and use a tablespoon of extra light mayo at 1 syn. I'll add some lambs lettuce to keep up the superfree.

My wife can have the 2 avocado I've bought in hers :D

Here we go again. I explained to my wife that an avocado is 9.5 syns, so I'm going to have just a tiny bit in my salad. Her response "Well that's no good then, it's not worth having without avocado. Better have fish n chips instead".

Bangs head on wall and wails :(

I've tried explaining I don't mind it with little/no avocado. And it doesn't effect her at all.

    Now she's in a mood. I can't understand it.

Hope everyone has a better time than me tonight :(

Oh no! We are having the same tonight for dinner.

So it's a case of the
