Hi Everyone
Been thinking about doing something about my weight now for some time but with New Year looming and a new SW group starting in town, I think this is the push that I need.
Can I join the gang and pick your brains when needed and share my journey please.
Would you recommend that I join a group or go it alone with the magazine and this thread??? Keep thinking the money would be better spent on fruit and veg??First ever SW challenge 2015: 0/70Watch this space!0 -
I would love to join in. I have over three stones to lose and am going to a local SW group.
I usually start the day well and end up picking at anything I fancy in the evenings but I am going to try and find some extra willpower.0 -
Hello!
I would like to join this group too if I may? Quick history:
At my heaviest was 15 stone  and at 5'2.5" was waaaaaaaaay bad.
Now I weigh 12 stone 6.5, a large chunk I managed myself but then joined SW as I needed the structure and to be honest was sick to death of what I was eating!
I exercise a LOT - I go to the gym at least twice a week doing free weights (love it, never thought I would but I do), walk my dogs almost every day and do 1 looooong walk at the weekends. I live in SE Wales so do some mountain walking when there isn't horizontal rain and force 8 gales :rotfl:
I have had a look through some posts on your old thread and you all seem a friendly lot without the "look in the directory" answer for questions!
x x xIf you wait for perfect conditions, nothing would ever get done! :T
I'm not short - I'm condensed awesome!0 -

Portion control isn't unlimited with no measuring.
I started weighing stuff and found out that what I thought was a portion of pasta was actually supposed to feed a family.
Of four.
For two days.
So I went from 14 to 12 stone in 2 months on the "don't eat like a glutton" diet.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
If I'm eating spicy cheddar - such as cheddar with peppers/chilli and jalapenos in, do you think I can count this as a HEB or should I syn it?0
-
It won't let me quote
but for the person asking about joining a group or going it alone - join a group 100%, I actually asked the same question before I joined and everyone told me to go to group and I completely understand why now. I would never have stuck to it if I didn't go to group, getting weighed every week and having that support is what kept me motivated.
As for the cheddar, personally I would heb it because peppers, chillis and jalepenos are free!
I am back on the wagon today, pineapple for breakfast and home made leek and potato soup for lunch, I may even do some hula hooping tonight. I was hoping to go out for a lovely long walk but it is chucking down so I don't think that will be happening. I am really missing my 10 miles a day at the moment, it is supposed to be sunny tomorrow though so fingers crossed!
I bought myself a fitbit for Christmas, I got it yesterday, it is fab! It's like a glorified pedometer really, counts steps, tells me how many miles I have walked, how many flights of steps I have gone up, how active I have been and it monitors my sleep - last night I slept for 7 hours 49 minutes, took 11 minutes to go to sleep, woke up 5 times, I love it lol.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0 -
Can honestly say im enjoying being back on the wagon, no more uncomfortable bloatedness but happily satisfied.

Thanks for starting the new thread FE.
 newbies, this is a lovely friendly and supportive thread.
I'd agree with kjmtidea that it's a good plan to join a group. Even if you just go for one week and get the introductory talk and the books before going it alone it's worth it. The books are much more informative than the magazines which are more about recipe ideas plus the motiational weightloss stories. Anyone seen a voucher for free membership anywhere? They often appear in magazines at this time of the year.
Sharalee, if you like your meat and potatoes then I think that the Extra Easy plan is probably the best for you provided you don't have a problem with eating plenty of fruit/veg alongside.
frogga, you've been given loads of ideas for soups and other lunch ideas but to bang on about the HM soup.:o I don't know which recipes you tried but adding lentils is a great way of thickening soups. Lentil and veg is probably my favourite.0
