Well, I have to say it does actually work, it straightens the hair and gives it a "flick" curl at the end.
I'm surprised. Sectioning is a must, so is following instructions and doing it from mildly damp hair. Not wet.0 -
I have recently had my hair cut short......anyone using this styler with short hair?0

I tried it on my mum's hair which is short and very fine, and although it did boof it up, the brush is very wide, so if your hair is very short it won't stretch around the barrel properly.0

I have seen a styler with a smaller barrel of 42mm for shorter hair but it is more expensive than the one on amazon. Here is a link

Does anyone know how this compares with the sainsburys version ? The sainsburys one doesnt rotate but is same idea and gets very good reviews, I just wanted something cheap and cheerful to do something for a change with since I am always blow drying my layered hair upside down. The sainsburys one is less than half the price of the babyliss which may or may not be the deal clincher if there is not much in it. Thanks to anyone who can advise.A happy wife, and mum to 2 lovely little boys :j0

I can't see really how it would work as well if the brush doesn't rotate, the hair winds around it, then you hold it for three seconds, then you release it by rotating it the other way. Otherwise you'd have to wind it yourself? What does everyone else think?0

I qualified as a hairdresser (for my sins), and have previously had two of the fixed barrel ones myself, (made by Morphy Richards I think), but I've just ordered the Babyliss for my own use. I did toy with going for the cheaper one, but decided against it.
My hair is bleach hilighted and as such it's fragile. There will be less stress and pulling on the hair with the Babyliss, and therefore less likely to cause breakage. If your hair isn't treated in any way (perms, tints, bleach etc), go for the cheaper version by all means.I :heartpuls M.S.E.Mortgage Free 18/01/10 13 years and 8 months early on a 20 year mortgage!

Thanks for your advice, I have never had any treatments to my hair and considering I blow dry and straighten occasionally my hairdresser says I have wonderfully strong hair so I'll maybe go for the cheaper one and save on the guilt of spending too much money on myself. I only want it for a bit of extra oomph and a change time to time. Thanks again.A happy wife, and mum to 2 lovely little boys :j0
