Some great numbers! Particular congrats to those who have had a no spend January!

And there has been some fantastic bargain-hunting too, which is a lot of what this challenge is all about!

  • :j:j:j:jWell done everyone. :j:j:j:j

I've had a no spend January - am so happy. Every time I so much as look at clothing I think of this challenge and think "do I really need it?". I think I will have to buy myself some tights though soon. I've got two pairs on today to hide the holes in one pair which doesn't correspond with the holes in the pair on top. They're under my dress so can't be seen but thought a ladder might 'travel' down my leg, plus it's freezing here today. Do tights count do you think? I think I will include them so trying desperately to find some more lying around the house somewhere! Also need to mend the boots that I bought on boxing day which have split. I could return them but really can't be bothered and I really like them so am thinking I will glue them somehow. I have quite wide feet so this happens to me a lot as I don't buy wide shoes to accommodate them! Here's to a spend free January.

sorry my proper update is late £0/£250 for me. :j

Went in Primarni on Sat to buy gifts to send to Estonia for my cousin's children. I bought a " feet warming foot cushion" with an integral hot water bottle for myself, but that isn't exactly clothing so it's not counting.

You are supposed to put your feet inside the cushion but the holes are tiny. It worked well with my feet resting on top anyway. It was half-price and at £4 I'm happy.

I have visions of me getting my feet in it, the doorbell going and me splatting myself across the lounge as I try to walk, so perhaps it's best as a footrest!

Thanks for the number Lotti - I've updated my signature :)

I'm not doing very well at all though. I've ALREADY got more spends to 'fess up:

£3 - Marks and Spencer top from charity shop (lovely and perfect for work)
£3.50 - Checked shirt from charity shop (hmm, I probably shouldn't bought this - not sure how much I'll wear it)
£21.99 - Barefoot running shoes (including postage - RRP £75). I tried to do the NHS couch 2 5k challenge last year and got shin splints in week two - hopefully these will avoid that (online order not arrived yet).
£13 - Walking trousers. I'm going to the Lake District for a week in March and my walking trousers no longer fit (online order not arrived yet).
    So I'm already up to £175.24 / £500 :(

On the other hand, there is some good(ish) news:

The boots don't fit :( My legs are too stumpy so I can't bend the knees properly, I've got them ready to get posted back tomorrow so that'll be £90 back (I'm not deducting that from my total until I've been refunded though) but the search for the perfect boots continues.

I spent Friday evening sewing. I made a skirt out of a pair of emerald jeans that were really too over the top but I love the skirt (trouble is I really want some navy tights to wear with it - ho hum). I took up a pair of work trousers I bought months ago but haven't worn because they were too long. I sewed up the pockets of two other pairs of work trousers so I can wear them again (for some reason the pocket lining in both pairs had disintegrated so when I sat down you could see my thigh - not appropriate!)

So, that's it for now - shamefacedly scooting off ....

Seriously what is it with this group and boots??? :p I'm going to try to glue the tear back down on my pair later. Fingers crossed :)

Just updating my sig to £49.10 for no 41 after a couple of tiny spends at the end of January.

I was going away with a tiny suitcase so emergency buys of a £3 nightie, £2 slippers and 2 pairs of knickers from primarni. The nightie is really pretty and will get loads of wear ..

Planning on a no spend February as saving money for holidays and really do have sooo many clothes. Bought a fashion mag to read on the plane and looking through the 'new' must-haves for spring I can adapt lots of my clothes to make outfits bang up to date. I may need a pair of court shoes and a pair of ballet pumps but I will leave that till later in the year to 'treat' myself.
Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)
    Grocery challenge November : £291.65/300.00 NSD 10
Grocery challenge December : £0/240.00 NSD

Right, less of this "not doing very well" chitter chatter! :D

You are already doing a fantastic job by tackling this area of spending, it does start out as bl**dy difficult, but it will get easier! :T

Also, all the spends you've listed sound very sensible to me, it doesn't sound like you're frittering! :money:

Afraid I am not doing very well :(

Went into Primark today and spent £22 on a pair of jeans and a denim shirt. I really love the jeans but they are a bit tight. They didn't have the next size up in the ones I wanted. Tried the next size up in another colour and they were slightly too big. Bought them on the premise that I am trying to lose a bit of weight anyway so hopeful that they will fit better in the next few weeks. If not then I will return.

    Sooo...... No46 £41/£120
