I decided to reorganise and sort out my wardrobe. I can confirm that unless I have an incident like my wellies (and essential for my job) getting a hole in, I need to buy absolutely nothing all year, and probably next year too. Everything seems to be in good condition and even then I still have far too much in there. A learning curve I guess :)

Have a lovely birthday tomorrow, debbiedeejay, I hope you feel well enough to enjoy it properly.
Coldish weather here, so the winter warmers are still out in force, a lovely thick button-to-neck Debenhams cardigan that was a Christmas present from my brother a year or two ago.
Also thick but still stylish winter weight trousers from the X-Catalogue shop. This shop often has super bargains in trousers in heavier fabrics- I have at least 3 pairs from there.

  • Am not 100% sure but I think tights in the original CCCC were a safe item that could be bought and not counted. They are essentials to any girls wardrobe really - I think if you need them because the ones you have are now unwearable then it justifies to replace them -so I wouldn't personally count them in my budget . HTH

Well its my birthday tomorrow and I am hoping that the b'day bunny brings a gift card or two my way or maybe something wearable at least - we shall see:)

Not been well this week either so have been slouching around in leggings and sloppy jumpers - did go into town today and mooched about but at the moment I don't need anything so I was a good girls and didn't bother looking either!:)

Keep up the good work everyone - just putting a figure to the amount we spend is half the battle and keeping that figure in mind when out shopping just helps - if it helps, cut out a piece of card to the same shape and size of your bank card and write in big figures your budget amount for the year and lower it each time you buy a item, put it front of your bank card in your purse and it could help to remind you how much you have left.Just a thought.

Firstly (and most importantly) :bdaycake:HaPpY bIrThDaY:beer:

Secondly, Thanks for the advice on the tights :T

Thirdly, hope you are feeling better, especially with it being your birthday. Hope you're having a good day.

And lastly, thanks for the great idea about the note in the purse. I will definitely be using that idea.

I almost crumbled yesterday. I found a really nice pinstriped tailored suit jacket in the charity shop for just £1 on the "sale rail". It was really nice, but this challenge came into my head and I wondered if I would actually wear it. Maybe for work but even then I probably wouldn't so I left it for someone else. Felt good.

Also I went to the library and got some sewing books and a couple of frugal type books so I will let you know if there's anything interesting in there!

Have a great day everyone. :j
  • I'm going to the library today to try and get out some kind of "How to Sew/Dressmake/Quilt" book today to further the plan for upcycling.

Hope you all have a lovely day:j

I've been doing that. I'm awfully good at reading about and planning doing any sewing but BAD BAD BAD at actually doing it.!!!

I went into town today, tried dresses on in Monsoon and bought nothing:T I can't believe I resisted. Apart from there absolutely nothing else tempted me... It feels goood:D

Oh me too, I have loads of ideas but only sometimes get anything done, and I am so impressed that you resisted. Well done you.

I think I am going to try this cutting up a plain t-shirt project: http://www.supernaturale.com/articles.html?id=263

Happy birthday debbiedeejay, hope you are feeling better today and that you received some giftcards to help with the Crazy Clothes Challenge!

I totally agree with you that having a budget for the year helps to focus when you're out and about. I was out yesterday and looking at a nice jumper but when I worked it out as a quarter of my annual total it looked a lot less appealing :rotfl:

I did buy some basic vests and tops in M&S but these were covered with some of my xmas money so I haven't spent any of my actual budget for the year yet :j. Long may it continue!

Loved the look of that t-shirt makeover btw, if only I was a bit more crafty and patient to give it a go :D

    Er... working with denim. Advice:
    • Sort your denim by thickness before you start and use the same thickness for each project.
    • You should be able to get special needles for using with denim
    • If you're using the seamed bits from the original garment, sew slowly and carefully. Go on, ask me how I know:eek: :rotfl:

    Hello all!

No spends to declare - yippee! :D

Have started trying to teach myself to knit, it could be a while before I can make anything wearable, still just knitting squares whilst I get used to the stitches. Been at it a month and only on sqaure 3!
