  • I've just bought some self-setting rubber from Am@zon, called Sugru, 8 5g packs for £12, sounds expensive but it is incredible stuff. It's like blu-tack, can be moulded to however you want it, but it cures and sets within 24 hours to a permanent, waterproof, shockproof substance.
I sent two packs in the post to a friend to repair her leaky winter boots as it is brilliant for that.
It then struck me that some of you on here might benefit from repairing boots /shoes rather than splashing out on new pairs. I wish it had been invented years ago!

You can get Sugru from the Last Harvest section of Amazon Vine. :) I got some but am yet to use it.

That's where I got my first lot of Sugru from! It had gone out of stock too, then come back in, which was really weird.

I used the black Sugru I bought this evening to fix a broken cord switch casing on my bedside lamp. No need to buy a new lamp now, as the switch is now safe to use. :j
The white Sugru fixed a flex on my mixer, again, something saved from the bin.

  • I had to give in and buy a bag when mine decided to break walking through town. I guess the only bonus is so far this year everything I have bought I have sort of been forced into buying rather than going on my usual £100 a time shopping sprees. So I'm rather proud of myself.

So far this year I have bought
Snow boots - £14.99 marked down from £49.99
    Wellies £12.99

and then by bag was £4.00 bringing my total spend so far this year to

£31.98/£500 - think I'm doing ok so far :) This thread is really motivating me.

    Confession/Update time for me:

I bought some skinny jeans, a peplum top and some hair accessories yesterday. Its not all bad though as the accessories were bogof and i had a £10 off voucher so total spend was £9.47 :)

That brings my current total to £24.47/£120.

RE the mulberry bag - i LOVE them, just cant justify it :(

  • Hello lovely thread. I have millions to catch up on, just popping on to note down a £10 spend. However, it was using a catalogue 'rewards' bonus I had, so actually cost me nothing!

My running total is still £6.50/£200

(and it's almost March!) Knowing I have set myself a budget and have this thread has really helped so far. Also found a £5 refund note in my purse, so I'll be keeping hold of that for my next clothes purchase :)
    I'll get there!

:( Emergency purchase to confess. We went away Saturday and mid-afternoon after a sogy round of mini-golf I realised my boots were no longer fully waterproof. Couldn't spend all weekend in damp boots so ended up buying a new pair for £24. Also cost me 3 pints of beer and 2 glasses of wine as I dumped Hubby in a pub whilst I went shopping and when I got back he was nicely settled in front of Sky Sports News with a pint so I joined him:rotfl:

They're bloomin' comfy boots for an emergency purchase though :D

Been a busy month for me, doing a bit of overtime at work and on a whim stared to decorate the kitchen, so have been doing all the preparation for a few hours on a Saturday, so all my old work t-shirts and old joggers have come in very handy for that! :)

Haven't really done any up-cycling on my clothes this month as I have been busy but have been wearing things I haven't worn for ages on a weekend, so as its pay day Monday am logging to report

    N017 Zero spend

so am still on target for Zero for the year :T

  • My mum has graciously offered to make me some new dresses out of some material we have. I love the wrap dress style so i'm going to have one red, one teal and one purple and blue floral. I think that'll sort out my spending habits for a little while! Plus it's my birthday tomorrow and i know she has bought me a peplum top, my younger brother has bought me a pair of shoes and my older brother is buying me a dress.

Sounds fab, and they will be made to measure, even better!

hope you have a lovely birthday

Me too - hope you have a lovely birthday. :T

The wrap dresses sound brilliant, 4 new dresses would certainly keep me going. Feel like a right frump at the minute wrapped up in hoodies and jeans trying to keep warm.

Also, well done to you for the zero spend Going4TheDream :T
