Hope you had a lovely birthday:)
and well done on the no spends at all going4thedream:T
I have still not spent this month and only a few days of february left.. so happy. Took lots of my old too big clothes to the charity shop yesterday as part of our big declutter before decorating but kept back a paisley dress that I think will make a good work outfit that I'd completely forgot about and a wee cardigan that I bought for 50p ages ago from a CB brand new that will go with jeans so I feel like I have new clothes anyway:T
I am really looking forward to getting new fitted wardrobes to display all my clothes properly.
Started sewing my dress and got the bodice joined so far,, hoping to get more done today as I'm off work:)Grocery challenge October: £228.28/£250.00 NSD 4 ( not completed)

What pattern is your mum using to make the dresses? Or is she freestyling it?0 -

Happy Birthday emslovenickey:bdaycake:Sounds like you are going to a fab day and pressies - They sound great!
A good friend of mine dropped off a bag of clothes that she was going to drop off at a CS shop in town but said I could look through first and either take the lot or if not would I take rest to CS shop for her. OMG it was like a aladdins cave! It was a good job I had done a reshuffle and decutter in my own wardrobes as I now have
2 M & 5 v neck jumpers
1 per nuna greeen and pearl button detailed jumper
1 W£lli$ bright red skirt with heavy cream floral embroidery
1 W£lli$ blue and white batik print skirt
1 pair R1pcurl cargo 3/4 length trousers
1 black & white summer dress
1 F3tF3c£ Olive & fushia wrap over dress
1 boutique vintage style heavy lace pencil dress with satin sash(needs a stitch in sash to hold it back up at waist)
1 red & white summer top from Deb5
1 M & 5 black zip up hoodie
plus 3 woolly hats!( I love hats!)
:T:T:T
They were no kidding in like brand new condition so I should be able to get plenty of wear out of them - I duly took the rest to CS shop with my own stuff.
But I will have to make sure I do wear them this year as if not I am going to be strict with myself and send them to the CS shop if I don't wear them this year otherwise there is no point keeping them in the first place.:o
But already have worn zip top ,summer top and one of jumpers this week! These will really help me and I am so grateful to my friend:)Crazy Clothes Challenge 2012 £57.20/£100,CCC 2013 £68.67/£100 ,CCC 2014 £94.32/£100

Had a bit of a spending "spree" yesterday, I went to the charity shops to see if I could get a blue and white striped top but there were a few other items I couldn't pass up
£10 - NEXT cream wool and cashmere knee length coat (it's a smart style, I think I'll wear it to the christening I'm going to today).
£4 - Light grey Italian 100% wool skirt suit (it's a unusual cut, I rarely wear suits for work but I only got one other - which is Zara Basic, I've had it for 8 years, it's pretty much skin tight now and generally looking a bit dated)
£4 - Stripy top x 2 - I found the blue and white striped top but it was part of a set so I got a red and white one too (I already have a red and white stripy top but it now got an annoying habit of rising up and displaying my belly to all the world - so I don't feel guilty about doubling up).
£4 - Singapore Airlines uniform (I'm pretty sure it's a replica. My mother was from Singapore so when I was a kid we used to travel on Singapore Airlines a lot, so it will give my Dad a laugh to see it, I actually wore the top as a jacket to pub to watch the rugby for for a curry last night to the amusement of my friends).
So despite having spent £20 on stuff I didn't intend to buy I'm pretty pleased with yesterday's charity shop "loot".
So I'm up to £107.24 / £500
In other clothes related news:
I went rummaging threw my summer clothes and found two "baby doll" style summer dresses which were a bit indecent for my age / my size / this country / the British summer, so I "restyled" them and now have a new skirt and a new top
The boots finally arrived but didn't fit so I'll be adding £3.99 on to my budget for "misadventure" when I get refunded for rest0 -
Everyone is doing so well! I have been following the thread but have been avoiding posting as that might force me to add up where I am........
I bought a skirt in the B0den sale, but that was still £48
I bought two As0s dresses which together cost £53.
So in my dizzy little head that's only three items which is probably fewer items than I would ordinarily have bought. but then I read this thread and can see how much people can stretch their money, and I spent £101 on three measly things.
And now I've remembered I bought another dress for £16!!!
I think I need to reassess my strategy. I'm struggling to buy fewer things. Maybe I need to try buying CHEAPER things from eBay or charity shops.
Or maybe this could be about the fact that I fell off the diet wagon a month ago.....if I could lose some weight I would have masses of stuff....
I have started making a dress, which is good, as I do feel pretty good when I have created something myself.
So tomorrow - I'm going to try and get back on the diet! I might go and unearth a dress that I love but can't get in, and hang it up as motivation
Must try harder......:(

haha - that's a great plan! I may have to copy that idea0 -
Hi All, have been reading through a bit of how you're all doing on this challenge this year - well done everyone so far :T I took part last year after lurking in 2011 but found that overall clothing isn't really a spend problem I have (honest
) kinda did ok until july when I was in the US and had a bit of a blow out, and then did fall off the wagon a little towards the end of the year. BUT the challenge did make me try to make concerted efforts to wear what I do have and consider what's already in my wardrobe when I'm out shopping.

I read your post with interest. What I found this challenge really helped me with (as I mentioned above) is trying to wear what I do already have. I look at it that if I buy one jumper for £30 but wear it say 30 times to equal £1 a wear, it's better value that a cheapy jumper for £10 that I wear once before it goes out of fashion / falls apart.
I don't think there's anything wrong in spending on a few good quality, slightly more costly items that you will get lots of wear out of so long as you can afford to. I'm all for a bargain garment too (my fav maxi dress is from primarni and everyone loves it), but they can also be a false economy - a) if you don't wear it, b) if it falls apart after one wear like the £1 knickers I also purchased in primarni.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

I think you may be right. I was thinking about how to scratch the shopping itch, but I know that I would probably end up with loads of rubbish items that I wear either once or not at all!
I have to face into the problem for me which is - I need to lose weight.
I always shop more when I am heavier - in the vain hope that something will make me look ok and then I can pretend I don't need to lose any weight.
If only I wasn't so greedy!
Thanks everybody for being so niceFashion on the Ration 2020 - 5/66 spent0 -
I am declaring my Feb spends as £35.28 on 4 tops in the sales which would have cost £127 rrp. Total spent to date for the challenge is £67.28
Leaves £132.72/£200 left and a £30 giftcard for the rest of the year - trying hard to be strong and not cave in to things I don't need - hard work but managing it - just!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550
