Yesterday my sons helped me sort out the garage and the shed.

The removal men had just dumped everything in the garage and I couldn't get to my tumble dryer. All sorted now and nice and neat.

There's a small pile ready for the recycling when the weather improves.

    So this weekend's haul is

    1. Bag of clothing put out for charity collection.

For my sister some unwanted furniture

    2. Chest of drawers
    3. Mirror
    3. Single duvet
    4. 4 old towels for the dog

Sat in the car waiting for next charity shop run

    5. 3 old vases
    6. Selection of old crockery
    7. Some unwanted cutlery

Snow has hit here, housebound today, so going to take the opportunity to re-organise my bedroom. Bin liners at the ready...
  • I'm in for the declutter 500! I I have spent the last week doing the kitchen, who knew 13 cabinets could hold soooo much :)

Went into THAT cupboard, yes, you all know, the one where you open very carefully and shut very quickly!

Pleased to say kitchen is done apart from one cupboard :j

I'm a huge fan of fly lady, it really does do what it says on the tin!

Bought baskets to keep the veg in, instead of them festering away in the back of the cupboard. Is also easy to see what I need when I go shopping. My weakness for Tupperware means I have lots and lots, so trying to give everything a place in a cupboard out the way.

So, today's to do list goes like this:

    1. Clear the last cupboard in kitchen.
    2. Clean the fridge out, ready for bin day tomorrow.
    3. Empty all other bins in house.
    4. Clear hotspot that is my dining room table, always stick stuff on it but am trying to keep it clear.

Well, best get on with it :)
  • Just had a thought. Someone asked about how long utility bills should be kept.

I know for business you should keep everything for six years but home is a bit different.

I am going to scan my utility bills onto the laptop and burn them onto a disc. To be on the safe side, I shall have a file copy on the laptop too.

After just having had the unenviable task of disposing of - by shredding - 23yrs of bills (utilities / cable / phone / tv licence / council tax etc) I have now signed up for paperless billing on everything :j. I'll keep track of them via their online sites!

It was me who asked, thank you, both! I have decided, on reading No More Clutter by Sue Kay, that those that I have hard copies of (as opposed to those that arrive online) I will keep two years worth. So some shredding to do this afternoon.

Lilyplonk - what does your curtain end stop look like? I have a few bits and bobs like that squirrelled away.

I've been at school all morning (volunteering - I'm far too old for school!!), and have just got back and eaten lunch. No decluttering today apart from descaling the kettle and the iron!

Just out of curiosity I searched eBays closed listings for Smash Hits badges. Somebody sold a job lot of 20 badges for £4.99, but apart from that there weren't many takers.

It you want them out of the door fairly quickly, the CS may be the best bet

Thanks goldiegirl, CS it is :T
  • i can hardly keep up with everyone!

    quite productive weekend:-

Wheelie bin and recycling day today, DD brought down a black bag of rubbish but on closer inspection half of it could be recycled, so sorted that. DS forgot to put his rubbish out grrrrr

Also threw a broken mug out, sadly this was a nice one, it slipped out of my hand this morning.
