I will declutter, I will declutter............meaning less to clear away and more time to spend with my lovely family
  • Not much decluttering done over the last 2 days as we went out for the day yesterday and family came round for a meal today (which was lovely). But to keep my momentum going I've cleaned out a cupboard of VHS tapes this evening, resulting in 1 large bin liner for CS (ours still take VHS tapes) and another for recycle centre. I plan to put our small collection of DVDs in this cupboard which will get them out-of-sight and make the shelf in the sitting room less cluttered.

    Ironing time

2 weeks of ironing done - hooray!
  • Busy decluttering weekend here! Tackled the clothes drawers of both my boys and filled up four bags for the CS - they now have hardly any clothes (!) but plenty space for more when they get them!

Nothing planned for the next 3 days so planning on more tidying! Still trying to find homes for all the Christmas toys and youngest son has his birthday at the end of this month so I need to find a lot more space! x

Just had a thought. Someone asked about how long utility bills should be kept.

I know for business you should keep everything for six years but home is a bit different.

I am going to scan my utility bills onto the laptop and burn them onto a disc. To be on the safe side, I shall have a file copy on the laptop too.

I can do this when I next sort through my filing. So, sort, scan, shred all in one go! I would advise you retain important docs like mortgage/insurance etc but for normal bills think this might work.

Opinion please - am I missing something important cos this seems too easy and I dont, as a rule, have smart ideas :)

  • "A closed mouth gathers no foot" - love it!!

Just got an email from Amazon. One of my stupidly expensive textbooks just sold, so that's item 6 leaving the house and £17.17 entering my bank account. A good start for a Sunday evening resolution! I've ordered the Toothbrush Principle book I've seen a few people recommending, to help me continue the process.
