On a bit of a roll with ebay today. I'm now wishing that I'd started counting items going out for this month, as I'm sure it's really starting to add up. I will definitely do so starting in Feb as I'm sure I'd find the figures motivating.

-old mobile sold to fonebank (for more money than they seem to be selling on ebay at the moment). Will post this Tuesday.
-old packaging recycled to post mobile in
-accessories for said mobile listed on ebay
    -paperwork for this mobile shredded
    -
    camera lens listed on ebay
-two ties I convinced DH to part with (he has two full racks of them!)
    -recycling out
-lots of shredding done (I am doing 10 sheets every time I go in to the study)

I have found it very helpful to keep a list of things decluttered.

I was thinking of 365 things for the year, but so far I'm ahead of target. I do have a three week holiday later in the year, and I don't do much deluttering in december, so I need to be ahead at this point.

The haul for this week is

31 Old pair of Marigoldgloves – bin
32 Two polo neckjumpers – CS
    33 Two tops – CS
    34 Old jeans –clothes bank

    36 Three shirts – CS
37 Shirt andpyjamas – clothes bank
38 General rubbishfrom sewing box – bin
39 Paperwork from2009 relating to redundancy – recycling

It has just tried to snow and seems to have failed.

Found an old lottery ticket that I have won 2.60 on whilst tidying up. About to start again as I am determined house to be straight, some eBay on and my room done before bed. Will peel potatoes then blitz with girls whilst they boil before roasting for tea. I will continue for ten mins.. They do ten things then we have a break.

Reading everyone's efforts on here got my motivation levels back up and the fact that the bedroom is almost totally empty hasn't stopped me finding cupboards to declutter.

All for CS - assorted baking tins (small loaf/large loaf/medium loaf/12 bun/ 9 bun), a cast iron casserole pot and a cast iron cooking pot. Along with a bright orange  metal casserole pot and another under-used and very unwanted cooking pan. Oh, and the muffin holders/grabbers for my toaster - they came free and have never been used and are very awkward to store.

Ruthless hat on again! Next to have my attention will be the gadget cupboard but not today.

:T for the inspiration. I will be as close to a minimalist as is feasibly possible before I hit pension age. :rotfl:

Not doing too bad so far, had a day off in the week and blitzed a couple of areas, popped some music on and decluttered away until DH came back from work to a nice tidy house, it wont last lol

Cleared out cellar and reorganised storage shelves, been meaning to do it for ages but it's easy to put if off and not go down there! Feel better for having done it :j found a box of car cleaning bits and bobs, no idea when I even bought that, we take our car to a car wash and have never done it by hand so lord only knows how long that lot had been hiding down there!

Gone through the food cupboards and got rid of some impulse random bits I was clearly never going to use, most of which had long past their best. With all that gone I can see what food we have more clearly which means I can keep better track of the store and wont overshop. :T

Done under the sink today and got rid of some old clutter that was taking up room and collectively causing organisational chaos. All neat and clean under there now. Martha Stewart eat your heart out :rotfl:

Got a hat, 2 dresses and a brooch to list on ebay this week, another day off booked for the next blitz, bring it on!

    Happy decluttering to all

Also I've been through the kitchen cupboards and got rid of a plastic juicer and flour sifter thing, launched in the charity box ready for the next trip.

Have found it so much easier to organise with less stuff to contend with, good decluttering advice is to get rid of as much as possible before hitting the shops for new containers, baskets and boxes etc, otherwise it's not decluttering it's just reorganising the clutter into pretty boxes! :p

I'm going to join you all if I may. The whole house seems to be cluttered and just looking at it is energy zapping! So here's January's tasks:
    1. Christmas decs - there is still stuff up in the loft we didn't use. DH has bought some plastic boxes with lids so we are going to get all the stuff down and sort through it - throw out or give to CS what we don't need and pack and label what we want to keep.
    2. We have to have a new boiler which means there will be space for an airing cupboard (current boiler so big it takes up the whole cupboard). So new shelves to be fitted in boiler cupboard for towels/bedding. So will sort through all bedding/towels. Limiting bedding to three sets for each bed, anything else will go to CS.
    3. Wardrobe - love the idea of putting coat hangers wrong way round. I need to sort clothes out into winter/summer and store what's not in season to free up some space.
    4. DH and I need to sort out the magazines - his walking mags, my fashion/knitting/craft mags. We've bought some box files and plastic wallets so that we can sort out what we want to keep and file away.
    5. Need to sort out bills/statements/receipts/guarantees/etc. We have filing cabinets and folders but I've let things slip so need to get back on track.
I think that is enough to start with. Funny how writing it out makes it feel as if it is achievable.
Wow this thread has grown! We should call it clutterers of the world unite! i must keep up.
I've written this list but only completed the first thing on it - the Christmas Decs but I've cleared out every drawer in the living room and the dining room, cleared all my worktops in the kitchen of clutter and found 4 bags of clothes/shoes for the CS. Still sorting the mags and the bills. For No.2 above must ring little man to come and put shelves in airing cupboard.
I've decided that there are lots of opportunities for 'five minute jobs'. So I've listed on our kitchen board things that need decluttering/sorting that would only take 5 minutes, like a window sill, or the odd drawer or shelf in a cupboard. Amazing what you can do in so short a time.

Just put 3 bags of charity bits in the boot ready to drop off when I'm next passing. :j

Tidied the kitchen surfaces a bit.

Going to have one final push this evening sorting the bedroom floor. I did so well yesterday it'll be nice to finish it. Well at least the area in front of the wardrobes.

This is a nice blog post I found about the need to clear stuff gradually. This blogger gave herself the goal of getting rid of half of her clothes.

Traded in 16 DS games to Amazon. Matched up others with boxes and threw out empty boxes and extra papers.

    Think need a break now.
