Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

Well done everyone, it's such a good feeling getting rid of all the clutter. Think I need to start on kitchen cupboards today. One in particular is mainly full of 'useful' padded envelopes, I will try to just keep 2 of each size and chuck the rest.
Who knows what else I will find though....0 -
Checking in again - I've sorted out a small amount of old gold jewellery that I'm going to sell - it's just been sitting in boxes for years and years ...
Other than that I've 'decluttered' the muck out of the bottom of the now empty food waste recycling bin  - horrible job!Enjoying the power and freedom of letting things go.

I think that is very true actually. I find when my house is cluttered I find it much harder to deal with everything else, but it is purely a psychological thing.0 -
Right, 1 scary kitchen cupboard later, I've decluttered:
3 bags of packaging
Half a dozen baby bottles and teats (my youngest is 6)
Microwave bottle sterilizer
Carving set
Sticky back plastic
Gift bags (retained some and put them with the rest of wrapping)
Plastic boxes
Old manuals0 -
This thread is great! Helped me a lot already, joined Freecycle last night and already got rid of loads of large items that have been blocking up the garage for months (years?!).
Even got someone to collect all our old decking which we thought we might have to get a skip for so saved lots of £'s there!
Listed a lot on eBay too that was worth getting some money back on but for large stuff you just want rid of Freecycle has been so easy and we've had 10's of replies for every item.
Can't wait to get rid of more now I'm going, going to have a good rummage in the garage when my little one goes for a nap!
Done out some cupboards that were driving me mad as everything collapsed when you opened them and moved loads from kitchen to utility. I can't believe how much better it has made me feel getting everywhere decluttered. Definitely makes me think more about what I buy too when I don't want to clog up space I've just cleared!0 -
This thread is fab. I find it such a motivation. So far this morning I have for rid of 2 1/2 bin bags of old clothes that were no good for charity. 1 carrier bag of magazines. Bag of coat hangers. One bag of cardboard. 1 bag of photo frames. 1 bin bag full of old handbags and shoes. Phew :T. I am getting there. I really need to sit down tonight and start the shredding as I have carrier bags full:eek:£370/£300 April challenge :T:T0

Happy New year all, I haven't been on here for absolutely ages. I can't believe it's 11 pages already for 2013, I need to read and catch up on what everyone has been doing. Not much decluttering has take place the last couple of weeks. When I was at my mum's over Christmas she gave me all and I do mean all of her OPI nail polishes as now she has the foil things she doesn't use them any more. So I have over 20. I need to sort through them and work out which ones I can bring in for the girls at work.
I think instead of waiting for free listing weekends I will try and make more use of Preloved and gumtree to shift the contents of my ebay box.
off to catch up with the year's posts so far...
Edit: oops, just realised it is in fact 17 pages! :shocked:0 -
I made a bit of a start on the boys bedrooms yesterday, but they have so much stuff.
I've taken the 2 bags of clothes to the new recyling place today near us, and got £8.00 for the lot, so that is 16kgs of clothes out of my house. The clothes/shoes/bags that are collected are sent to Africa, so I feel by decluttering I am helping others less fortunate.
I am planning on trying to get together a bag full every week (10kg), and the money will be put towards our summer holiday this week, and will also start doing car boots when we get some better weather.
I'm going out in a bit with the kids, but intend to sort some more clothes later, and one of the kitchen cupboards.
Our bin men came today so I have 2 bins ready to be filled again.2016 is the year I am going to find time for me, and cherish the time I spend with my friends and family. It is also time to save - Aim £4,000 - So far this year - £230/£4,0000 -
Who's up for an intense burst of decluttering for 15 minutes? :j
