    Evening all :)

The bag of CS items added up to 14 so will add that to my tally. And count the bag of paperwork burnt yesterday as one item.

Today I did lots of one item into the house so one item needs to go out. 3 cushions in, 3 cushions out. Trouser hangers in, bulky wooden trouser hangers out. So that felt good.

Going to take a look at toiletries now and see what dregs etc I can use up. Maybe have a bath too. Two birds one stone :)

I watch or rather listen to films in the kitchen too Dundee. It helps doesn't it. I love listening to comedians like Peter Kay, his new DVD can be found on YouTube :j

Keep up the good work everyone and if you're struggling or thinking I don't have time for this next time you're watching the tv ads you could be doing a quick bit of decluttering :)

It seems I decluttered a friend overnight! Facebook friend who has a lot of drama going on (much of it real but some of it self-inflicted because that is how she lives her life, lurching from one crisis to another) and I wasn't being supportive enough so I've been defriended. I think I can live with her decision...

It might be time to take positive declutter action on Facebook and remove any of those non-friends who were added out of politeness but shouldn't really be there, or who haven't contacted me at all since they were added or any time recently. I'm sure some of you have that type of "friend" too, right? :)

    Hi peeps,

Purchased 5 storage boxes from Arg*s today, which i used to store towels and bedding in the airing cupboard (as opposed to them being stuffed in there randomly!), so sorted out lots of old bedding to go to CS.

Stack of old magazines into recycling box.

Old/odd crockery and tiny teapot in bag for CS.

    4 items listed on eb*y.

Half way through airing cupboard. 50 tea towels down to 20, 30 flannels down to 10, 46 towels down to 20. Tomorrow it's the turn of table cloths and bedding. They are currently sitting in piles on the bedroom floor.

  • Hi all

    I would like to join!

Our house is in need of decluttering and I am going to make 2013 the year it happens.

    So far:
    1. 3 lampshades
    2. Cushion
    3. Haynes manual - Astra
    4. Haynes manual - Mondeo
    5. Handbag
    6. 5 summer tops
    7. Window voile
    8. Pair trousers
    9. Pair jeans
    10. Shirt
All going to the charity shop this weekend

    11. Loads of things got thrown out including an iPod docking station that stopped working 2 years ago and which we replaced about six months ago!
    12. Did a bunch of shredding that had been there for a few days as well.

    13. Unfortunately I have also had to throw out two black bags of accidentally defrosted food - I left the freezer door open yesterday and loads of things were. On the upside about a quarter of that was out of date so I didn't feel quite as bad as I would otherwise have done.

Overall I am pleased with the decluttering process. :T

    Good luck all

    OUCH!!!

Even my lovely hubby wants to get on with outing stuff this year and he so wants to tackle this garage of ours, he is finally up and about but has hospital scan next week so fretting a bit and fingers crossed, once thats out of the way can make more of a plan.
Best wishes to your hubby, don't let him do too much too soon though xx

I have had a morning dedicated to decluttering!
I now have a completely decluttered kitchen including a clean fridge freezer.

Not sure where to move on to next......
Wow, someone's been busy!!! Well done

Had a bit of a better day today: hubby wanted to go out to a shopping outlet near us, so that was this morning, but when we got back we took all the Christmas decs down, and have actually put them back in the loft! (which is a first - they usually get put in the boxes and left for another week clogging up a bedroom).

We've also decluttered the rest of the Christmas cake, and I've had a mini sort-out (i.e. 5 mins at a time) of various other areas. So...

    1. Christmas cake eaten up
    2. Board from Christmas cake - recycled
    3. Ribbon from Christmas cake - fabric recycling (was sticky, could have been washed but was one that frays badly so would end up looking like a limp rag anyway)
    4. Decoration from Christmas cake
    5. Remainder of a pack of photo cards
    6. Morrisons Christmas vouchers - not used and expired now
    7. Bag of stale biscuits grandson left here about 6 weeks ago!
    8. Old case for my mobile
    9. Cake box that Christmas cake came in (plastic plate with cover - I won it in a raffle)
    10. Christmas serviettes - recycling
    11. Details of houses we wanted to look at in the summer - recycling
    12. Packaging from 2 boxes from computer that have been in the loft for 4 years. Keeping the boxes for if/when we move
    13. Box and packaging from slimline computer screen
    14. All Christmas cards taken down and in recycling (another first!)
    15. Finished Santa sack for granddaughter - fabric used up
    16. Christmas decoration - gold sleigh thing that moults glitter
    everywhere

I'm on a roll now.... still not 100% into decluttering, but getting there. Lounge looks bare now all the Christmas lights and decs have been taken down, but shouldn't take long to get it back to its 'minimalist' look that I so loved back in the summer.

Going to watch Phil Spencer Secret Agent now, and declutter another few bits of the Christmas goodies....

I've been going through a couple of boxes that I got down from the loft today.

It was mostly papers relating to cruises we've been on since 2001.

It was interesting to see who the on board entertainers were and what the the menus were, but most of it has gone into the recycling box. The bin men collected the recycling this morning, and now the box is almost full again!

I've kept a few selected pieces, mostly things that might be ebayable in about 20 years time!

What I need to think about now is to buy decent storage boxes for the things I'm keeping. Part of being clutter free is actually be able to find things when you need then, so good storage would be a help.

De-cluttering will be carried on, but it will be at a slow pace. The other boxes brought down from the loft contain 7 inch singles, so I need to check their condition, make sure they aren't dusty, sort in lots of about 50 for eBay, and get them photographed and listed.

But I will also do a few quick hits, to keep the momentum going

Well done to you all for the decluttering you are doing.

I went back to work today.

So far this week I have:
    * Cleaned the oven and the trays
    * All Christmas cards and birthday cards received in 2012 have been put in our shopping bags to remind me to drop them off at the card recycling bin at the supermarket over the weekend
    * Wall calender for 2012 has been binned and replaced by one for 2013
    * A couple of tealights have been used up and then binned

    That's all for now.

    Good luck to you all.
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23
