OK you lot - you let me down badly yesterday ................. I succumbed to temptation :(.

Came home with a square, gold-framed mirror (for my porch), a large, deep, spring-form cake tin, ankle-length denim skirt and two books (Maeve Binchy Christmas Treasury and Grumpy Old Christmas). I aim to read both books and take them back next week, try the skirt on with a couple of tops to see if I really like it, stash the cake tin 'with other baking stuff' and get the mirror on the wall asap. Porch is painted 'basic magnolia' so the mirror will brighten it considerably PLUS make it look illusionary bigger - besides being extremely useful.

Even so, I now need to do some extra decluttering this morning, as penance to compensate for my 'lapse of motivation' yesterday ......... :o

Was out all day yesterday from 8.30am to 9.30pm - though OH met me at the bus station at 5.30pm to take my CS stuff from me - AND to give me my bus pass which I couldn't find when I left in the morning. I hate when that happens cos, of course, I now begrudge having to 'pay my fare'. Consequence of being out all day meant that I came home to find OH's 'daily debris' lying around the place - gonna get that all cleared up in a couple of mins. He HAD washed his dishes apart from a saucepan and a colander that he'd used for pasta - those both had that 'sticky pasta feeling' to them and needed a proper scrub this morning while I made my coffee. WHY do men do that :wall:?

I reckon I've got around 8hrs to 'make some more progress' in here before I've got to go for 'child-sitting' for DD. She's going to a funeral with her OH and dgk's need picking up from school, plus feeding/getting changed/supervising, before their Dad picks them up for his weekend visit.

I think I can 'tackle a bookcase' and maybe get rid of some of its contents to DD's local CS to 'kill 2 birds with 1 stone' this afternoon :A.
  • I've done NOTHING !!! All last week work was manic, then I fell ill last Friday & spent the weekend in bed- back to manic work Monday, course Tues-Thurs then orthodontist with DS today. House is a TIP - so any spare time this weekend will be spent cleaning rather than decluttering I imagine.. and I got off to such a good start this month .... at least I haven't brought too much in - just some tights & gloves...
Shifting my energy for 2020 :heart::heart:
  • Not much done in the way of decluttering today but have done a lot of housework including tackling my mountain of ironing, washing the car and several washing loads. Only thing to leave the house was an eb*y parcel. Got given first xmas present at work today, actually got a choice so chose make up bag (needed a new one) with an impulse body spray and lip gloss in, both things i use regularly so a good present all round! x

Sorry for not posting for an age. I have been decluttering a little and have had a couple of trips down to the charity shop... and not returning with more! We have a charity bag through the door, so clothes will be placed in there for pick up next Friday.

Right, suppose this house won't declutter itself. ;)

Today we are wrapping all Christmas presents so some wrapping material will be used up. Some of the presents are leaving our house tomorrow and the rest is going in our suitcases when we go away over Christmas. A box of Christmas cards have been used up as well. Apart from that not doing much decluttering except for filling up the recycling bin.

Good luck to all with your decluttering
No toiletries challenge, started 18/1/2010 - Putting £1 in my savings jar for every item that I use up. Pot 1 to 4 = £261. Pot 5=£23

Decluttered 1dgs to his parents this morning ;).

Earlier this morning, OH did an expedition up into the loft to retrieve the Christmas Tree with a view to putting it up today ....................

After getting the base, lower and middle sections in place it became blatantly obvious that it just 'aint't gonna fit' where I wanted it to :(. In the previous house, we had a bay window that it filled beautifully - now it just takes up an entire corner of the Living Room - jutting out so far that we can't negotiate the corner of the sofa to get into the room .

In a 'fit of pique' OH is now not speaking to me .................. he's accused me of 'just wanting an excuse to buy a new tree' which is not 100% true. I had a feeling that it wouldn't work out and mentioned a couple of times that maybe it was time for a new one ........................ - this one is around 7yrs old, 7ft tall, originally bought for £20 from Wilko's and has been much admired once it's been 'tittivated' with all my beautiful gold 'n' cream ornaments. DD will be arriving shortly to give it a new home; she lives in an Edwardian Terrace with parlour/living room knocked through into one large room - so has lots of space for it!

Now I need a trip to Asda for a new (smaller) tree, then this room will FINALLY look as though Christmas is around the corner.
  • 1 old sweetie tin... recycle bin
    school trousers...charity bag
    ds's old onesie..charity bag

  • I'm afraid decluttering has very much been put on the back-burner in our house :( Christmas has taken over!

I have managed a few areas of concern and we've also shifted a lot of boxes up into the loft (not exactly decluttered but it's out of view for now!!)

    Some items I did clear:
    Cakepops book - eBay
    Craft Embellishments - eBay
    2 cardboard boxes - recycling
Boyfriends shrunken jumper - bin - no comment!!!
Old broken Xmas decs - bin
A whole heap of Christmas gift bags/ribbons etc reused on gifts

Here's to a good week ladies - good luck!
2015 - I am determined to lose at least 3 stone in weight and I must pay off at least one of my credit cards...If I keep telling myself, I might start believing it!!! :D
    Save £2 a day for Xmas 2015 Challenge: £56/£730
 HAPPY NEW YEAR - HERE'S TO A GREAT 2015 FOR US ALL!

    OK then
One new tree IN - one old tree OUT to DD's along with 2sets of lights:j.
New tree is a full foot shorter - therefore narrower at the base than the old one :T. It was 'a bit of a beggar' to put up as it's 'pre-lit' - didn't think about having to 'connect up the electrics' as I was assembling along. Found myself tunnelling into the branches to find the connectors etc.

It's also one of those with 'pretend snow' and must have been freshly sprayed with the stuff JUST before being packaged as all the branches, lighting cables etc were practically 'welded together' with the damn 'white stuff'. However, it is now IN the corner of the room and in full working order. After all the shenanigans with the tree PLUS the visit from DD and 2dgk's, I was cream-crackered last night, so just left everything scattered around the Living Room. Looks like something from The Blitz at the moment, but that's the 'job for today' ................

At least the empty storage boxes (from the deccies) can be used to store the remaining Living Room clutter until after Christmas :D.

Kitchen is still looking presentable and Porch Entrance is looking 'quite inviting' at the moment with its 'rustic decorations' :j.

Routine Recycling all went out yesterday cos today is Recycling Day - next Rubbish Collection will be on Saturday, so that's one that I daren't forget about - we've got a 'Christmas Collection List' stuck on the fridge door with a magnet :D.

Main kitchen bin, plus small bins, were all emptied yesterday as well - no 'nasty niffs' hanging around the place now :o.
