Decluttering 2013, the saga continues ...

I have been doing a huge clearout over the last few days. Large garden pots gone to a friend, cracked pots in garage either given as crock or put in bin, huge clearout in loft and loads of ancient books taken by kerbside recycling. Five black bags to CS.
What are your thoughts on cuddly toys? I have two black bags full of them. Should they go to CS or just in the bin. I have a feeling they could be full of germs and the labels say don't wash.0 -

Have spent a lot of time clearing out junk these last few days - it's feeling rather liberating to get the stuff out of the house. Gone so far:
1 carrier bag of clothes to charity bin
2 hardly used food processor to Freecycle
3 set of coasters/ /placemats freecycled
4 set of candles freecycled
5-16 no longer read books to charity bin
17 carrier bag full of junk from under the sink to bin (I can find stuff under the sink now as it has been organised - hurrah!)
18 finished up conditioner found under kitchen sink (no idea what it was doing there)
19 finished one of the several tins of deoderant in the bathroom
20-22 three bin liners of rubbish from the kitchen cupboards
23-26 four ARGOS catalogues that have been sitting on the kitchen table for several weeks:o:o
DH fetched a couple of boxes down from the loft for me last night so I will be working on those this morning, very tempted to just take the whole lot down to the tip, but feel it would be wasteful if there was stuff that a charity could sell on (and not very green).Jan NSD 4/15

If they have their labels on and aren't grubby then I would give them to charity, our local shop will happily take them and sell them on so I imagine others do tooJan NSD 4/15

If you're worried about giving to a CS you could list the bags on freecycle or similar - I'm sure you'll find someone who wants them there.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

143 - old car interior light that I've tried to sell in several places & had no luck - bought it to work and put on our help yourselves shelves, went within a few hours!
144-145 two pots of 'interesting' looking jam & chutney my mum gave me from her holiday - also went on the shelves!
Had a few more potential interest from Gumtree listings.
My target for the weekend is my sewing room and also finding homes for our spare bedding, missing our house not having an airing cupboard like the last one did.Initial Mortgage January 2024 - £160,000

I've been brave and tacked the photo cupboard, which was full to bursting plus some extra albums that wouldn't fit in. Managed to declutter:
Photos (got rid of about 20% I think)
Negatives
New photo album (space left in others)
Big pile of videos
Photo frames
CD set
Old letters
Broken wall hanging
Now all the photo albums are on the table, fingers crossed they will all now fit into the cupboard. Might try and get my husband to thin down some of his old photo albums too.0 -
Had an email about a collection for homeless people at Christmas, will send my son to the scout hut with:
3 tins of fish
2 boxes of tea bags
2 jars of pasta sauce (OH bought them and got the wrong flavour)
Tin of tomatoes
Also chucked out a packet sauce that was past its sell by date.0
