Please can anyone tell me how to declutter photographs. We have about 6 double drawers worth in our bedroom. I look through and can't bear to throw them away. The more recent ones are stored digitally but it would take me week/months to scan in the rest.
I am terrible with paper as well and have bank/credit card/mortgage statements/ bills digitally stored going bank to 1990. I still have paper copies for the last few years. Help

Photo books are always on offer online, look for best codes / offers. That will help with the ones you have stored digitally - then you can delete.

I am the same with old photos, have sooooo many. I recently went through mine and binned all that were boring landscapes or ones I didn't recall the people in! And any Ex's!! What about storing in a nice box/ vintage suitcase with other memories?

Made a very small start -

    1 - 12 - Books sent to CS
13 -15 - 3 bags of rubbish paper / card taken into work (school)

Planning on a day in the loft next week when I am off - Eek!!

Then we had one of those light bulb moments.

I know what you mean - nothing ever gets brought down again. Also I keep having visions of my poor children having to deal with it after I am gone.

    .

Don't think I could ever bring myself to throw away photo's  Nothing better than getting all the old photo's out every now and again and having a good old reminisce (sp?) Photobooks are a great idea, I am in the middle of scanning all of my late mum's old photo's to make a book for the family. Will still keep the originals though, they are a little piece of history, all faded and stored in an old fashioned biscuit tin.

19-21 3 folders put on the 'free stuff for other people' shelves at work
22 - folder that was broken in bin.

Been a really busy week and hardly been in the house however I've hopefully got some Gumtree sales lined up and we're going to spend Sunday doing some much needed housework and getting some other bits listed for sale so hopefully I'll feel better then.

I'm rejoining this thread as after a successful de-clutter earlier in the year, my house is starting get cluttered again. I think I'll aim for 10 items a day for a week and see how I get on. Also hoping that this positive step will help to lift my depression.

    Decluttered yesterday:

Left over bits of embroidery thread (all rest now nearly put onto bobbins and colour coded in a box)
    Lid from memory stick
Plastic ice cream possibly belonging to my Little Pony
Blue holder for wool (don't like the colour will take to the raffle at knitting group)
3 revision books (too out of date to be any use)
    Magazine
    Folder for magazines

Not quite ten, will try to do 11 today.

    Decluttered today:

10 mugs (5 stained ones chucked out, 5 decent ones to go to CS)
    Brochures
    Anniversary cards
    Strange painted pot
  • 93 items gone from 300 target. Finally emptied a large cupboard so now hoover, toolbox and garden tools all have a new home out of sight instead of blocking my hallway. MMMM what can I do to treat myself for my progress?
