I feel like I had a really good day today - something shifted in me & I felt like it was easier to get rid of stuff I'd been keeping hold of - for example I decided that instead of holding onto some clothes to sell or "just in case" I'd just give them to charity shop & although the notebooks don't sound like much - psychologically they were quite a shift as I didn't know why I was holding onto them but couldn't quite part with them until today. I could also start to see the difference mainly in terms of there being room to put things away in the cupboards under the stairs.
Thanks all for the motivation - I feel like I've been to a decluttering bootcampShifting my energy for 20200 -

Hi there, do you mind if I join you please? I'm resuming my decluttering mission (did go a bit AWOL but need to get sorted!) so think it'd be good to jump in here.
I'm not going to list items bit by bit as anything is progress but have managed to:
* get bag of stuff ready to go to CS (old toys/outgrown clothes)
* found socks/cropped tops not suitable for CS which can go into clothes recycling
* gathering stuff to list on fleabay over the course of time
OK, doesn't seem much does it but we all have to start somewhere!Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
Since my last post about a month ago, I have sold 3 more DVDs, a CD single and my DS's guitar, amp and accessories on ebay. I was especially pleased to see the guitar go, as it has been taking up so much room in the airing cupboard, he bought it when he first left school and never got around to learning to play it, and then didn't take it with him when he moved out.
I think I'd better join the challenge for November to get me motivated, as I've not got rid of much lately and the 'cupboard of doom' is getting full again, lol! Today I've gone through all my old proof of postage receipts for ebay parcels (dating back to 2010?), and have kept the ones from the last 18 months and put the rest through the shredder. I've also gone through the 2 pots of pens and binned 3 that weren't working.
So for the challenge:-
1. CD single
2. jiffy bag from stash used for sending CD
3. 3 x pens binned
4. pile of receipts shredded
5. used envelopes taken into work
6. pile of paperwork shreddedWeight loss challenge 2/10lbs

I'm so impressed with everyone here! We've just finished building work, so have a few lovely clear rooms, but the rest of the house is a mess! One particular room is the dumping ground for everything, we also have a lock-up that we're renting and I have no idea where we're going to put all that stuff...
So my challenge for Christmas is to declutter room by room - maybe a room every 10 days. So first I'm going to clear our front room and make it a nice place to be again - this will include relocating a fridge freezer, so might be a tall order0 -

I found 40 items of food (oops) and paper recycling when I got home on Thursday so just made 500 items for October.
Then I had a couple of days in London for my birthday so no decluttering there and only came home with a couple of cosmetics, a new wallet for OH and 2 new pairs of boots and some show programmes so that's pretty good, and only a few 'non consumable/money' gifts that need homes.
Back on the decluttering yesterday
1-18 set of old crockery in laws bought for OH whilst at Uni but that we don't use anymore sold on gumtree, 18 things out, £7 in, all good.
Not decluttering as it's not left the house but finally finished all the ironing and now OH's office isn't full of clothes (we were drying stuff in there whilst we decorating dining room) so house is starting to look better.
